Communications and Team Resourcing Contract
An opportunity to support the communications
and networking of a growing voluntary movement
of Christians using their faith to change the
economic environment.
The Industrial Mission Association is looking for a Self Employed individual to work on the
basis of a Service Level Agreement to provide 16hrs/month of Web Communications and
Team Resourcing. The person will creatively produce stories /images to share the work of
Industrial Mission with people engaged with the economy, church members and wider
society. This contract is for a 12 month period.
The person will also have relationship and training skills to encouraging local Industrial
Missioners in their communications. IM teams are dispersed around the UK and Industrial
Chaplaincy, whilst being rewarding and a visionary mission of the church, can be lonely
and unacknowledged work.
The Industrial Mission Association (www.industrialmission.org.uk) has a particular desire to
share communications with a wider and younger audience than its current membership,
with a view to growing their engagement with IMA.
The Industrial Mission Association (a registered charity) is a growing mixed network of
about 250 voluntary, paid, f/t & p/t practitioners who engage the Christian faith with the
economy through workplace chaplaincy, public campaigns and church relationships.
Therefore the IMA are looking for a person with some flair for modern communications,
understanding of church / theology / economic issues, and excellent networking and
interpersonal skills. Some travel will be required as IM teams work throughout the UK.
The person will need to be self-employed, flexible and self-motivated: accountability will
be to a working group of IMA representatives, who are currently based around the West
Midlands. A fee of up to £1500 pa (+ £500 travel exps) is available.

KEY PIECES OF WORK
Website / Social Media / Digital Communications




Generate and curate content ideas for website, social media etc based on activities
of IMA and relevant economic/faith issues, for external audiences.
Attract relevant information from local IM practitioners for sharing around the
network to provide support and encouragement.
Update the structures of IMA website etc as costs allow.
Source and originate relevant images/media of Industrial Mission to be shared and
used across the IM network for communications.
Team Resourcing
 Befriending local IM practitioners to help them with their communications –
suggesting good content, providing feedback on their communication outputs.
 Supply generic content that can be used by local IM teams in their communications
– stories and images.
Strategy and Evaluation
 Report back to Communications Strategy Group on outcomes from communications
and team resourcing.
 Contribute to discussion about success / failures of communications and future
directions.
WHAT MIGHT ‘SUCCESS’ LOOK LIKE?
An IMA website that looks better, good information and links better with local IM teams: eg
uptodate database about types of chaplaincy across the UK, a weekly blog-style issue with
an audience ….an online forum of people discussing faith and economy..
