www.jamk.fi INTERNATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING AND RENEWABLE ENERGY PRODUCTION (3/5 ECTS CR) JOINT COURSE BETWEEN CHINA AND FINLAND Objective of the course The objective of the course is to give participants information about the selected areas of renewable energy production processes and environmental engineering technologies. After the course the participants understand basics of municipal waste water treatment and lake/river management systems, energy production processes from organic wastes and biofuels as well as biofuel production technologies and air pollution control technologies in energy production. Target group The course is aimed at Bachelor/Master level students of JAMK’s School of Technology and Institute of Bioeconomy as a part of the JAMK Summer School. Group size is 10-15 students. Schedule and content The course is arranged between 1.-12.6.2015 (intensive course of two weeks) and includes lectures, laboratory works, company visits, assignments and presentations. The content is as follows: • • • • • Municipal waste water treatment and lake/river management systems. Energy production processes from organic wastes and biofuels. Biofuel production technologies. Fuels and boilers. Air pollution control technologies in energy production. The course is worth 3 ECTS, but there is a possibility to expand the course to 5 ECTS with a more advanced written assignment. A strong international point of view is included in the content, as some of the lecturing professors come from China. The course is mainly carried out in the premises of JAMK´s Institute of Bioeconomy at Saarijärvi, but also includes company visits and two practical exercise days at Savonia University of Applied Sciences in Kuopio. The course is organized in English.
