In seeking to achieve its objectives, the Pan African Parliament intends to strengthen its capacity to deliver by, among others, filling of the position of Assistant Clerk. The Pan African Parliament is therefore inviting applications from citizens of the African Union member states with exceptional skills, competences and track records of capacity to deliver excellent services in an international organizational setting. POST DETAILS JOB TITLE GRADE DUTY STATION IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR Assistant Clerk P1 Midrand, Johannesburg, Republic of South Africa Senior Assistant Clerk 1. Under the Supervision of the Senior Assistant Clerk. The main duties and responsibilities of the Assistant Clerk are: Keep up-to-date PAP membership list and ensure circulation of Attendance List of Members in the Chamber/Conferences with the view to capturing factual attendance; Daily production and keeping of list of speakers for submission for debates; Support the Senior Assistant Clerk in drafting Order of Business for the Plenary; Draft Votes and Proceedings; Draft Notices of Meetings; Prepare the orientation and swearing of new Members of Parliament; Draft minutes of meetings arranged by the Unit; Draft reports of meetings under the guidance of Senior Assistant Clerk; Follow up confirmation of the Invited Guests for Plenary and Conferences; Prepare and submit periodic reports on activities of the Unit or specific missions; One Africa, One Voice! 1 of 3 Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. 2. Qualification and Experience Candidates must have Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, related Social Science discipline or equivalent relevant professional qualification from a recognized institution with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in a similar position in a National or Regional Parliament. An advanced University Degree or a relevant professional postgraduate diploma in the field (Masters Degree or equivalent) would be an added advantage; 3. Required Skills and Competencies: Excellent drafting skills. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Teamwork orientation and ability to interact harmoniously and effectively in a multi-cultural environment with colleagues from diverse disciplines, backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrate ability to make objective decisions and resolve problems, exercising the highest sense of responsibility in the handling of confidential and sensitive issues in a reasonable and mature manner. Diplomatic skills and the ability to generate innovative, practical solutions to challenging situations, with tact and emotional maturity. High ethical standards, professionalism and integrity. 4. Tenure of Appointment: The appointment will be made on an AU three-year (3) Regular Contract, of which the first year will be considered a probationary period. 5. Language Requirement: Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages is required. Knowledge of other working languages would be an added advantage. 6.
