Dear Parents,
It has been a very busy work week, with a continued focus on grammar, punctuation, spelling and creative
writing.
Next week the full board of Governors meet, it is an open meeting starting at 6.30pm on Monday. The
meetings this term are at Burlescombe School, they alternate each term.
We see the return of our sporting events next week, with the football squad in action on Monday
afternoon and the CVLC swimming gala on Tuesday. We wish all the children good luck, just do your best
and enjoy the competition. Thank you to parents who have offered to help with transport to these events.
Multiskillls for Year 1 has now been moved to a new date of 23 rd February due to mock exams at Uffculme
School.
On Friday, Webber’s PTFA are holding a children’s disco in Holcombe Rogus Village Hall from 6pm-7.30pm.
This event is open to all primary school aged children across the partnership and local friends too.
Children need to be accompanied by an adult. Adults your entry is free and there will be tea and coffee
available . The next PTFA meeting is at 6.30pm on Friday during the school disco in the little room in
the village hall.
Collective worship this half term is on the theme of love and it’s relation to Christian values for example
courage.
Sainsbury’s Active kids vouchers will be issued from 28th January 2015 until the 5th May 2015 – there will
be a collection box outside the school office, please ask any friends, neighbours or relatives who shop at
Sainsbury’s to save their vouchers for us as well. Thank you.
Please remember you can always arrange to see me if you have any worries or concerns or indeed
suggestions that will support the children’s learning.

Arsenal Soccer Schools- February Half Term
Arsenal Soccer Schools courses are aimed at 4-14 year olds of all abilities who wish to receive a unique, fun
and safe coaching experience of Arsenal Football Club in a suitable environment based on their age, ability
and experience. Each day will be unique, as it will be dedicated to one of Arsenals star players, including
England international Jack Wilshere and World Cup winner Santi Cazorla. Children aged 4-6 years old will
take part in a shorter ‘Mini Gunners’ course, while 7-12 year olds will complete the full 10.00 – 3.00pm
Soccer School. All participants also have the chance to win a signed Arsenal shirt, signed Football and
Premier League match day tickets.

Rent-a-Zoo is coming to Puddleduck Pre School, Clyst Hydon
If you would like to see and learn about animals such as snakes, lizards and creepy crawlies, come along to
our Rent-A-Zoo event on Thursday 19th February. Doors open at 10.30am and finishes at 12.30pm. There will
be a half hour interval where you can purchase refreshments. Tickets are available from Andrea at the Pre
School or on the door at £2 per person.
Half term activities at Haven Banks
Haven Banks Outdoor Education Centre at Exeter Quay are offering a full range of outdoor activities over
the February half term.
Courses start from just £44. Ages 8 – 16 year olds.

Culm Valley Sports Centre is 30 years old in February and a week of celebrations begin on Saturday 7th
February with the official opening of the newly refurbished fitness studio.
Staff at Culm Valley Sports Centre are planning a whole week of fun from 7 th to 13th February. They’re
looking forward to showcasing their new gym equipment, refurbished Centre and range of activities and
classes on offer to customers old and new. Come along and join in the celebrations! The week starts on
Saturday 7th February with the official opening of the refurbished fitness studio with invited guests,
followed by gym tours, inductions and Family Fun Afternoon from 1-4pm with a bouncy castle, trampolining,
soft play and a penalty shoot-out.
There will be three Zest Membership deals available from 7th to 13th February, and existing inclusive Zest
Members can earn a month free by referring a friend who takes up one of the deals (terms and conditions
apply). One lucky person will win an Annual Lifestyle Plus Zest Membership in a draw that closes on 13 Feb,

Sustainable Villages News
On Tuesday 10th February at 7.30pm, we shall be showing the award-winning documentary film 'Trashed'.
'If you think waste is someone else's problem, think again' is the message passed on by Jeremy Irons. We
will be showing the film at Uffculme Village Hall, and entry is free. This will be preceded by Sustainable
Villages AGM, which will start at 7pm (doors open at 6.45pm). You are invited to come along to this as
well to hear what the group has been up to, and its plans for the coming year.

On Thursday 5th February 2015 at Wellington Rugby Club there are blood donation sessions from 12:45 to
