Whilst Tarek has worked hard to develop his law career he is an example of how important a well-balanced life is. Joshua Roperto Yr 9 H12 We were very grateful to Tarek for taking time out of his busy schedule to share his stories with us Ms Anne-Marie Morello Community Action Convenor With exams just finished and the beginning of Year 12 looming ahead, a three day getaway to Phillip Island promised to be the ideal end to a long and demanding Year 11. Although the weather on the first day did not mirror this, our spirits were not dampened and it was an air of anticipation which filled the two hour bus ride enroute to Cowes, Phillip Island. Our hopes were realised upon our arrival, when we were able to participate in a variety of relaxing, challenging, and most of all, enjoyable activities such as the giant swing, meditation, high ropes course, crate climbing, and raft making. Students were split into different groups allowing us to spend time with close friends as well as peers with whom we were not so familiar. Tuesday morning brought with it a welcomed change in weather and a break in routine as our usual activities were replaced by a choice of visiting 'A Maze’N Things', surfing, bike riding, bushwalking, fishing, playing golf, and going to the beach. The second component of our camp comprised four liturgy sessions spread out across the three days. Not only did these offer respite from strenuous camp activities but they also gave us a chance to thoroughly reflect on our time at Parade whilst looking forwards towards the future. However, I feel the most important part of these sessions came with the sharing of the staff mentor for each group which provided us with the opportunity to listen to real life experiences, knowledge, and advice. These sessions rounded out what was ultimately a rewarding camp experience in which we were able to relax, have fun, and reflect, so it is with great excitement that I now look forward the year ahead and beyond.
