Seniors Power Armstrong Past Mustangs
by Jonathan Weaver
A trio of Armstrong River
Hawks seniors scored on
Senior Night to push the team
into a tie for second place.
The final score of 4-3
included goals from Jacob
Snyder and Josh Oliver
and two from team captain
Christian Miller.
Snyder, Oliver and Miller
all registered two points in
the game, and senior Chase
Steiner had an assist in
Oliver’s game winner.
“Our seniors really led us
tonight, and I’m really proud
of them,” Head Coach Doug
Anthony said. “We got a good
senior class – they’re like my
kids all winter long. I’m really
gonna miss them.”
Although the game was
scoreless after one period, it
quickly became tied when
Plum’s Stephen Shields and
Snyder, of Kittanning, scored
within the first minute of the
second period – 20 seconds
apart.
“I was just trying to do
my best,” Snyder said. “If
we get the win, that’s all that
matters. If I score no goals
or 100 goals (but) we win, I
don’t care.”
While older brother,
Tyler, played hockey with the
River Hawks Captain - and Senior - Christian
Miller scored two goals during the third period
in last night’s victory against Plum.

BY CHOICE HOTELS
Kittanning Wildcats, younger
brother, Evan, chooses to play
little league baseball instead.
“It’s going to be a big
change next year. I don’t know
where I’ll be playing hockey,
or even if I’ll be playing
hockey, but I’m going to miss
playing with these guys all my
life,” Snyder said.
The second goal of the
game came from Plum and
worried some of the team
leaders until Miller scored two
in a row followed by the gamewinner by Oliver – of Ford
City, who started as a Mite
with the Armstrong Arrows at
the Belmont Complex.
“With Senior Night, there
was a lot of energy from the
locker room – it’s a big win,”
Oliver said.
11-year-old
brother
Noah, of Ford City, will play
freshman hockey next year.
Head
Coach
Doug
Anthony was also worried
after the team was behind
going into the third period, but
coaches moved junior David
Contrael to forward and the
team followed his energy.
Following the game,
athletes and their families
held a party upstairs in the
Belmont Complex to honor
the seniors.
