Town of LaGrange February 2015 Newsletter Minutes of the Regular Meeting, Town of LaGrange, Wyoming, meeting at the Town Hall on January 15th 2015 at 7:00pm. Present were Mayor Mark Marshall, Councilman Joel Tremain, Mike Huseby, John Beightol and Cameron McCoy. Town Clerk Cathy Stoddard, Public Works Director Tracy Pragnell and Attorney Ed Buchanan were also present. There were no visitors attending. Mayor Marshall called the meeting to order at 7:14pm. Joel moved to approve the minutes as read. Mike seconded, motion carried. Mayor Marshall asked for old business. Tracy gave an update on the sewer project. He stated the new bids will be opened January 23rd 2015. Mayor Marshall tabled the third reading of Ordinance #59 An Ordinance relating to sewer bonds. Cameron moved to approve the third and final reading of Ordinance #61 An ordinance repealing town code title 6. Joel seconded, motion carried. Mayor Marshall asked for new business. Mike moved to submit a grant application in the amount of $8,800 to USDA for the engineering of the water tower and VFD drives project and to add Cathy Stoddard, Town Clerk, as a signatory. John seconded, motion carried. Joel moved to submit the resolution and loan application to the State Land & Investment board for reallocation of 2013/2014 funds in the amount of $31,558 from the landfill project to the water tower and VFD drive project. Mike seconded, motion carried. Town Code Book Title 7 Chapter 2 Sewer was discussed and revisions will be made and presented at the next scheduled council meeting. Clerk and Public Works questions were discussed. Tracy Pragnell gave an update on the Goshen County Facilities Planning Committee meeting. Tracy reminded the council of the bid opening Friday January 23rd at 2:00pm and the special meeting Tuesday January 27th at 7:30am. Joel moved to pay the bills, Cameron seconded, motion carried. John moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:50pm. LaGrange Sewer Project Update The sewer project bid has been accepted, and the construction process is set to begin in early March 2015. Most of the work will be done in the alleyways, so EVERYONE needs to remove all personal property from the alleys by March 1st. If you have any questions about alley boundaries or what needs to be moved, please contact Town Hall at 834-2466. If you have not contacted Town Hall in regards to your dog tag, you are now past due. There will be a $25 fine assessed per dog when you come in to pay for your tags. If you are having difficulties getting in, please let us know and we can work with you. Attention local businesses For $10.00 a year, your business advertisement can be added to the Town of LaGrange website. Call the Town Hall for more information at 834-2466. LaGrange Community Building Fundraiser This year’s fundraiser will be held Thursday, March 12th. Serving will begin at 5:30pm with pizza and drinks on the menu. There will be no Silent Auction, however, we will have more pies and cakes for auction beginning at 6:30pm! Our annual meeting will be held March 26th. Watch for more info on these items in the March newsletter. LaGrange Winter Community Ed Classes You can register and pay for any of the classes by calling LaGrange Town Hall at 307-834-2466 or Susie in Torrington at 307-532-8213. Please register at least one week in advance. This really helps in the organizing of the class. Wyoming Health Fair’s Annual Blood Screening Clinic will be held in La Grange on February 4 from 6-8am at the Community Building. If you miss this one, there will be a clinic in Torrington at the Rendezvous Center on March 25-28, 6:00-9:30am. Art Class and Poster Contest 2015 For students from the LaGrange Community in Grades 2-12 Fridays, February 6, 13, 20, & 27 1:40-3:40 pm for elementary ages 2:40-4:40pm for grades 7-12 Location: LaGrange Unity Library in LHS Heritage Square (Use the Ramp Doors) This EWC Community Education class is offered in conjunction with the LaGrange American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Poster Contest. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about American history and poster art, while constructing Poppy Posters to honor our Military Veterans. We will display the students’ Poppy Posters in the community and enter some posters from each division in the American Legion Auxiliary competition. Contest winners earn prize money and recognition. This class will provide instructions and guidance for taking part in the Poppy Poster Contest, while expanding appreciation for America’s heroes. Parents are responsible for transportation and must give written permission by pre-registering their children. This class is offered FREE of charge. Basic art supplies are furnished by EWC and John A McGill American Legion Auxiliary Unit #70. We ask students to bring their patriotism and creative ideas. The Carolyn Laycock Memorial Scholarship Essay Contest, sponsored by the John A McGill Unity #70 - American Legion Auxiliary will award $175 to one college-bound senior from Southeast High School or with ties to the LaGrange Community. This year’s contest requires the contestants to interview a Veteran and then write the Veteran’s story, including the student’s response to the Veteran’s experiences. All essays will be preserved in a Veterans’ History Collection in the LaGrange-Bear Creek Library for all to enjoy. Complete rules and information are available from Cheryl Grandstaff, contest director, phone 307-834-2459. Several local veterans have agreed to be interviewed. If you are a veteran and would be willing to share your story with a student, please phone Cheryl Grandstaff. Each veteran may only be interviewed once, so students are advised to make an appointment with their veteran early. All essays are due by noon on February 26, 2015. LaGrange Elementary School Fundraiser Join us for a Spaghetti and Movie Night fundraiser for the students of LaGrange Elementary School. This fun night will be February 20th, dinner at 6:00pm, followed by a movie at 7:00pm. There will also be raffles throughout the evening. Price for dinner is $5.00 adults/$3.00 for children 12 and under, the movie is FREE! Bring your pillows and blankets for an enjoyable, relaxing evening.
