French black box specialists join AirAsia search New Delhi : A specialist black box search team from France is joining the international effort to find the AirAsia flight which crashed en route from Indonesia to Singapore. Nine bodies have so far been recovered from the water off Borneo, near the suspected crash site of flight QZ8501, which went down with 162 people on board on Sunday. Heavy seas stopped divers reaching the possible wreck of the Airbus A320-200 yesterday. An aviation official said it could be a week before the black box flight recorders were found. The plane was travelling at 32,000 feet on Sunday when its pilots asked to fly at 38,000 feet to avoid bad weather. A few minutes later, air traffic controllers received no response when they granted permission for a rise to 34,000 feet. Investigators were working on a theory the plane stalled as it climbed steeply to avoid a storm about 40 minutes into the flight. A source said radar data appeared to show the aircraft made an unbelievably steep climb before it crashed, possibly pushing it beyond the Airbus A320’s limits.
