It is of critical importance that you believe that people working together can achieve more than people working on their own. It is expected that individuals interested in pursuing these positions have concern for their neighbours’ welfare, and are willing to give time and energy to the work of expressing that concern with actions. These positions will be left open until filled or until there is no longer need within our community. Currently a small group meets at 4:00 P.M. on Sundays at St. John’s Church, 1100 Nigei, the church on the corner. We gather to worship, and then spend some time discussing how we can reach out within our community. If you are curious, if you are interested, if you are in need of support, if you believe that your actions can help, your presence is welcome. The Mill (at this time owned by BC Pulp & Paper) and town co-exist in the original Port Alice site in 1935. At this time, Port Alice had a 3-room school, movie theatre, company store, library, community hall, golf course and club, two churches, tennis courts, and a Bank of Nova Scotia. The Heritage Office is looking for any memorabilia of Port Alice and its past functions, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, yearbooks, photographs, buttons, pins, event programs, etc. If you have anything that you would be willing to donate or lend to us, please call Evelyn at 284-6608, or drop off at the Village Office.
