Guardian Christian Academy
School Spirit Night at
Friday, Guardian Christian Academy had a combined chapel and pep
rally to end Spirit Week. All grades attended. Before the pep rally,
Kelsey Danko stated the theme of her message was the following
verse: Joshua 24:15…but as for me and my house, we will serve the
Lord. The word house has many meanings. It can be a place of shelter, a building in which people live, a structure used for a specific purpose such as a church, business, school, or auditorium, or a legislative
assembly. Often times in sports, fans call their home field/court their
“house” and the home team is considered to have a significant advantage over the visitors because of fan involvement and the strong desire
not to lose on their own turf i.e. we have to protect our house.
What does the statement in Joshua 24:15 mean? In this case, Miss
Danko stated that house means your body. God has given everyone
various talents that are to be used to glorify and reflect Him. Some
people are athletic, some are artistic, some can cook, some can write,
some are mechanically inclined, some are compassionate – the list is
long. Whatever skills God has given you, it is your responsibility to
ensure that you use these abilities for the advancement of God’s Kingdom. Do not let Satan sidetrack you. If you have made the choice to
serve the Lord, do not allow Satan to attack your house. Protect it
and continue to work for God.
After chapel, the students had a blast during the pep rally, recognizing
athletics, cheering, and building up excitement for the first-ever home
game later that afternoon. The chapel message remained at the forefront; this is God’s house and we will use our gifts to honor Him.

GCA Spirit Hits All-Time High!!!
You could feel it, see it, and even hear it--SPIRIT WEEK!!
It was an exciting time to be a part of GCA. Last week, we celebrated our annual Spirit Week by
dressing up to different themes each day, creating banners and "walking floats", ordering Spirit
Sticks, and having a blast at our Pep Rally on Friday. Throughout the week, student participation was
tracked by classes.
Congratulations to the following classes for having 100% of students and teachers dress up EVERY day:
Mrs. Hunt, Miss Muniz, Mrs. Ford/Waters, and Mrs. Diocedo
Next, each K-5th grade class created a banner that was judged and then displayed in the Life Center for our Pep Rally and
first ever home games. And finally, the BIG DAY--on Friday, we kicked off our morning with a school-wide Chapel, and then
jumped right into our Pep Rally.
The Pep Rally, lead by the GCA Cheer Team and Royal Knight, included team introductions, a boys’ vs. girls’ competition, the
Victory Cry by classes, skits by secondary students, and even staff musical chairs. Congratulations to Mrs. Walls for winning
musical chairs and being voted "Most Spirited Staff Member" of the week.
Then, the coveted Spirit Stick winners were announced. Drum roll, please:
K-2nd grade winner:
Mrs. Hunt's class
3-5th grade winner:
Mrs. Ford/Waters' class
Secondary winner: 6th grade class
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, the lights went out, but the Pep Rally ended on a "bright" note. The cheerleaders passed out glow sticks to everyone
and lead a chant that got everyone involved! GCA spirit really did "LIGHT UP THE KNIGHT"!

There are many opportunities for volunteering coming up particularly as Race for Education and Pastors’ Brunch get underway.
THANK YOU to those of you who have already volunteered to help with these events.
An IMMEDIATE need is setting up dismissal tables on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. This has recently
been covered by Ms. Dee - which means she is not where she needs to be. With a 3:15 dismissal, setting up at
3:00 could fit nicely into a parent’s (or a rotating group of parents) schedule and be a HUGE help to all.
We give a heartfelt THANKS to those in our loop group who meet students and parents at the cars each morning - and recently that means each bone-chilling morning. THANK YOU for your commitment and for serving in this capacity. What a
difference it makes!

how this all-time favorite fundraiser works!
Every student can win prizes, and every

And what else does it bring? Naming just a few of the invaluable but intangible … School spirit! Class spirit! Family
camaraderie! Awareness of the value of consistent physical activity!
