Gloria Anderson (458-6519) Senior regent’S MeSSage February already and tax time is almost upon us. I am hoping all things have settled down after the holidays for everyone. February is also the time of the year we stop and remember that special someone in our lives on Valentine's Day. May we also take time to let our friends know how much they mean to all of us all year long and cherish the time we have together. Why not invite that friend out to the Lodge for dinner one night and invite a nonmember guest to become a member of our fraternity. I had the privilege in January to visit an individual. It is always a pleasure! I would like to encourage each of you to take the time to sit with someone who could use a friend and enjoy the opportunity to make someone else smile. I was thinking I would brighten her day and she, in fact, brought the sunshine to me !! I love you Mother (93 years old)!! Congratulations to our Academy of Friendship Recipients, Lynetta Parrish, Dawn Ozmore, Cindy King and Julia Andrews. I would like to send a special thank you to all our membership for contributing gifts of love to the children of two adopted families and to forty nursing home individuals. The recipients were so gracious for all your love and kindness showed during the holiday season. Let us continue the fellowship of family and friends throughout the year. On Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. the membership is invited to a Green Cap Ceremony honoring Sandy Baker, Senior Graduate Regent. Everyone, family and friends are invited to attend the Green Cap Ceremony and refreshments will be served afterwards. Please remember to find us on Facebook for up coming events!! HONORING SANDY BAKER SENIOR GRADUATE REGENT Invited: All Membership, Family and Friends Refreshments following ceremony Page 4 Hopewell Moose Hopewell Moose Lodge's Boy Scouts of America, Troop 183 The scouts of Troop 183 started the year off in a very patriotic way by attended a special scouting activity at Patriots Point in Charleston, SC. On Jan. 2-4, 2015, the young men had the opportunity to camp on the USS Yorktown (CV-10) Essex-class aircraft carrier, explore the USS Laffey (DD-724) Allen M. Sumner-class destroyer and go below on the USS Clamagore (SS-343), Guppy III submarine. They also had the honor of visiting; The Congressional Medal of Honor Museum which features interactive exhibits that explain the origin of the Medal of Honor and its stories of the exceptionally brave Americans who displayed remarkable courage while making the ultimate sacrifice. The Cold War Submarine Memorial, the enduring tribute to the dedicated men & women who served in our naval submarines during the Cold War from 1947-1989. The Vietnam Experience Exhibit featuring components that simulate life during wartime in a "Brown Water Navy" support base and a U.S. Marine Corps artillery fire base during the Tet Offensive and the Battle of Khe Sanh in 1968. This was a tremendous opportunity and experience the scouts were afforded to learn of our courageous military heritage. The Moose was organized in the late 1800’s to provide support to its’ members in the form of a Fraternal Organization. Members joined the Moose to first provide help to its’ members, then to others in need. This is a chance to show what we are as a Moose Lodge. 18907514 February 2015 Sun Mon Tue Wed 1 SUPER BOWL PARTY: -$5 BUFFET -DRINK SPECIALS 2 QUEEN OF HEARTS 7PM 3 BINGO 6:30 4 5 DJ DAVID ALLEN LOOM 7PM (K) 6 DJ GARY MAN WOTM: 6:30PM BOARD MTG 7:00PM WELCOME PARTY 7:30PM CHAPTER NIGHT ODML#148 WINTER CONFERRAL / CELEBRATION VA BEACH BINGO 6:30 Thu Fri Sat HAR- LOOM OFFICER MTG 7PM 8 ODML#148 WINTER CONFERRAL / CELEBRATION VA BEACH 9 QUEEN OF HEARTS 7PM 10 BINGO 6:30 11 DJ CHIP COOK 7 ODML#148 WINTER CONFERRAL / CELEBRATION VA BEACH DAVE CONNER BENEFIT 6PM BALLROOM 12 TRIVIA 7PM 13 DJ DARRELL JOHNSON 14 WOTM VALENTINE DANCE W/”FEATURE ATTRACTION BAND” 8PM 19 LOOM 7PM 20 DJ PETE DERS 21 WOTM 6:30 Board of Officers Meeting BINGO 6:30 15 BINGO 6:30 16 QUEEN OF HEARTS 7PM 17 BINGO 6:30 18 DJ CLAIBORNE FISHER (K) WOTM: 7:00PM COMMITTEE PLANNING SESSION 7:30PM BUSINESS/ BALLOTING LOOM OFFICER MTG 7PM 22 BINGO 6:30 23 QUEEN OF HEARTS 7PM 24 BINGO 6:30 25 DJ FLOYD SPENCER SAUN- MOOSE LEGION TO FOLLOW LOOM 26 TRIVIA 7PM 27 DJ TOMMY CHAVIS 28 CAROLINA BREAKERS 8PM Page 6 ENTERTAINMENT Hopefully we are at least halfway through winter.
