I was exhausted, depleted, beyond broke with stress slowly squeezing the life out of me. I was desperate for answers. I had done all that I knew to do but found no relief from the issues closing in that had almost left me homeless at one point. I was absolutely weary of the struggle of it all. Disappointed in so much talk about love and so little demonstration toward the people who needed it, I became determined to find the truth. Remembering the words of Norvel Hayes on an old cassette tape I had worn out, I began to do what I had heard him talk about so much. I cried out to God, “God, I want the truth, I want the truth God.” In the silence of my lonely apartment I sought Him diligently for that truth. I asked God, how it all was suppose to work and shared with Him that my heart was telling me the truth was hidden in simplicity. I asked Him to reveal that simplicity to me. Somehow I knew it should not be hard nor difficult to live in the blessings Jesus purchased for us. I just could not seem to get access because something was blocking me from receiving the promises from God. I was at the end of my rope with the struggle to make ends meet and the lack of love among so many I had encountered who professed to be “on fire for God.” I wanted the truth and therefore chose to reach for the hem of His garment and hang on until I had understanding of how to live as He intended me as His child to do. I would not be disappointed. All my life I struggled with rejection. In trying to grasp the understanding of God loving me unconditionally, I could not seem to bring into focus what that meant because of my perception formed from the lessons in life. Finally reaching the point of exhaustion along with desperation to experience what the scripture describes as being chosen before He laid the foundation of the world, to be holy and without blame before Him in love and being predestined to adoption by Jesus even before He laid that foundation….(knowing we were going to fail) it gave Him pleasure and was His will to do so….we were made to be accepted in the Beloved. I “chewed” on this scripture from Ephesians, Chapter 1. I read about His rich mercy and His great love. Oh, yes I had read it before! My bible was highlighted over and over with torn edges from reading and trying to get the real meaning of what this meant. I literally piece by piece read 1 John 3:1 over and over. I meditated on the thought of, “What kind of love is this that6...our Cont’d on pg Jerry’s South Georgia Barber Shop “When you have tried the rest… Come & see the best…” In the So. Psalm 143:8 Paraphrased It is all about His love for you and me! “Good News” page 3 The Origin of Valentines Day In my quest to find out how Valentine’s Day began, I heartily delved into my search for information. After visiting several sites and reading the history of this day dedicated to those in love, I think I may have discovered the answer. The following is a summary of what I gleaned from history. It all seems to originate around 5th century Rome as a tribute to St. Valentine, a Catholic Bishop. The Romans practiced a pagan celebration in the middle of the month of February in honor of the young men “coming of age” to a pagan god. A type of lottery was used and the young men would draw the names of young women from a box. The girl drawn would be assigned to that young man for his entertainment and pleasure for the rest of the year. Pope Gelasius wanted to do away with the pagan celebration and ordered a change in the lottery. Instead of the names of young women, he used the names of saints. Both men and women were allowed to draw and they were to imitate the ways of the saint whose name they drew, for the remainder of the year. Many of the young Roman men were not happy with the change. The church began to look for a patron saint of love to take the place of the pagan god, Lupercus. It was decided that St. Valentine would be chosen. He had lost his head in 270 AD at the hands of the Emperor, Claudius. Claudius felt that men who were married did not make good soldiers. He then banned marriage from his empire. When Claudius found out about this, he tried to convert Valentine to paganism. However Valentine tried instead to convert Claudius to Christianity. Valentine was eventually stoned and beheaded. While Valentine was in prison, he fell in love with a blind girl. She was the daughter of his jailer. Through his faith, she was miraculously healed. Before he was faced with death, he signed a goodbye message to her, “From your Valentine.” That message has been used to this day. Even though the practice of drawing for women had been banned by the church, the February holiday in the memory of St. Valentine was still used by Roman men to find the love of women. It became traditional for the men to give the one they admired messages of affection with Valentine’s name. The first Valentine card was sent in 1415. Charles, Duke of Orleans sent it to his wife while he was in prison. Thus the origin and history of Valentine’s day from my research on the subject. Personally I did not know. One day a friend said to him, "I've something to tell you, and you won't be able to use your favorite phrase. I dreamt last night that I died and went to hell." "It might be worse," said the preacher. The friend came unglued: "Man alive, how could it be worse?" ... To which the pastor replied: "It might be true." A mother was teaching her 3 year old daughter to say the Lord's prayer. For several evenings at bedtime, she repeated it after her mother. One night she said she was ready to solo. The mother listened with pride as her daughter carefully enunciated each word right up to the end, when she said, "Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us some e-mail. Amen." A preacher was on program at a district convention to preach for twenty minutes. The other preachers from the district were sitting behind him in the choir section, giving him moral support and throwing in an occasional "Amen" to help the preacher along. The preacher preached his twenty minutes and continued on despite the time allowed. He preached for 30 minutes, then forty minutes and then for an hour. He even continued for an hour and ten minutes. Finally, a brother sitting on the front row took a song book and threw it at the preacher that was still going strong in his message. The preacher saw the song book as it was hurled his way and he ducked. The song book hit one of the preachers sitting in the choir section. A burglar had forced entry into a residence when he heard a voice saying "Jesus is watching you." He looked toward the sound of the voice and noticed a parrot roosting in its cage. At this time the parrot said, "Hello, my name is Elvis." The burglar rhetorically asked, "What kind of an idiot would name a parrot Elvis?" To his surprise, the owner of the home replied from the darkness of the room, " The same idiot who named this Rottweiller Jesus." A preacher said to a farmer, "Do you belong to the Christian family?" "No." said he, "they live two farms down." "No, I mean are you lost?" "No, I've been here thirty years." "I mean are you ready for Judgment Day?" "When is it?" "It could be today or tomorrow." "Well, when you find out for sure when it is, you let me know. My wife will probably want to go both days!" Struggling to make ends meet on a first-call salary, the pastor was livid when he confronted his wife with the receipt for a $250 dress she had bought. "How could you do this?!" "I was outside the store looking at the dress in the window, and then I found myself trying it on," she explained. "It was like Satan was whispering in my ear, 'You look fabulous in that dress. Buy it!'" "Well," the pastor replied, "You know how I deal with that kind of temptation. I say, 'Get behind me, Satan!'" "I did," replied his wife, "but then he said, 'It looks fabulous from back here!” The new preacher moves his things into his new office and comes across the former pastor, taking his items out. The former pastor says, "I left three envelopes in your desk. If you have any trouble, open them." Well, of course the new preacher thinks he will never have to use them, but in his youthful enthusiasm, he tries to change the order the kids march in during Vacation Bible School. Well, this makes the workers absolutely furious and there is a lot of ugly talk about the new pastor. He remembers the envelopes and opens the first one. It says, "You haven't been here long, but you decided to make a change in the Vacation Bible School; now everyone is mad. Tell everyone that the former preacher had told you this was how you preferred to do it." So the young preacher did that and it worked well. He had been there about a year and a half when he tried to change the deacon position from being a life-long job to a position that rotated annually. Well, this made the deacons really mad, and they were the ones who made his salary recommendation. So he went back to the drawer and got the second envelope: "You did something to make the deacons mad and there's talk of replacing you. Tell them this is the official denominational policy; that you thought they wanted to comply, but it doesn't make you any difference what they do." He tried this, and again it worked great. You guessed it. After three years, he finally told the women's organization that they were going to have to open the kitchen so that it could be used without a representative from the women's group being present. This put the women's organization in open revolt. So he went back to that third and final envelope: "You've been here about three years and you finally got the women's organization mad. The only thing to do is prepare three envelopes ... " “Good News” page 5 A Sunday School teacher was struggling to open a combination lock on the supply cabinet. She had been told the combination, but couldn't quite remember it. Finally she went to the pastor's study and asked for help. The pastor came into the room and began to turn the dial. After the first two numbers he paused and stared blankly for a moment. Finally he looked serenely heavenward and his lips moved silently. Then he looked back at the lock, and quickly turned to the final number, and opened the lock. The teacher was amazed. "I'm in awe at your faith, pastor," she said. "It's really nothing," he answered. "The number is on a piece of tape on the ceiling. 5 24 Hr. Roadside Assistance Call: 806-204-0177 Flair For Hair Salon 4521 S. They needed to get to the other side, but had no idea of how to do so. Joe prayed to God, saying, "Please God, give me the strength to cross this river." Poof! God gave him big arms and strong legs, and he was able to swim across the river in about two hours, although he almost drowned a couple of times. Seeing this, Dave prayed to God, saying, "Please God, give me the strength and the tools to cross this river." Poof! God gave him a rowboat and he was able to row across the river in about an hour, after almost capsizing the boat a couple of times. Bob had seen how this worked out for the other two, so he also prayed to God saying, "Please God, give me the strength and the tools, and the intelligence, to cross this river." Poof! God turned him into a woman. She looked at the map, hiked upstream a couple of hundred yards, then walked across the bridge. An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into mischief finally asked him, “How do you expect to get into heaven?” The boy thought it over and said, “We’ll I’ll just run in and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until Saint Peter says, ‘For heaven’s sake Jimmy, come in or stay out!’” Finding one of her students making faces at others on the playground, Ms. Smith stopped to gently reprove the child. Smiling sweetly, the Sunday School teacher said, “Bobby, when I was a child, I was told that if I made ugly faces, it would freeze and I would stay like that.” Bobby looked up and replied, “”Well, Ms. Smith, you can’t say you weren’t warned!” A little girl asked her mother, “Can I go outside and play with the boys?” Her mother replied, “No, you can’t play with the boys, they are too rough.” The little girl thought about it for a few moments and asked, “If I can find a smooth one, can I play with him?” Laughter is good medicine!! I spent hours thinking about Jesus as the Bridegroom and myself as a part of the Bride. I am a visual creature and therefore I drew pictures of a stick person and labeled the head as Christ, the body as the Church and wrote “me” across it. I sought for more understanding of who I am in Him and how to walk in it. I pictured myself walking with Him and talking with Him. I took photographs depicting Jesus love for people interacting with them. I desired to know Jesus in an intimate and personal way that would drive out all fear and doubt of ever being unwanted, unnoticed and unloved again. I wanted a close personal relationship that would leave me without any doubt of who I am in Him and how much He loves and cares for me. I went after it like a hungry lion pounces upon a lamb. I was not going to live in want and loneliness anymore. I was on a mission to live in a love affair with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. After all, the price He paid for me was beyond comprehension and He wanted me more than His own life. I thought daily upon the love and passion that comes when two people fall in love and marry. I asked God to reveal in a very personal way His love and devotion to me. I was desperate for a relationship with the One who said He loved me. I wanted to know Him more and more. I longed to understand how to walk in His promises and not be in need in this life. I wanted my Father, my Bridegroom, my source of Love and perfection to teach me how to walk in His Presence and live in confidence of His love and care for me. I needed Him, I wanted Him and I was not going to stop until I knew Him as He intended me to. One evening as I sat on my couch in my quiet apartment, I said to my Lord, “Jesus, I want to understand your love for me. I want to comprehend how you really feel about me and how faith works.” Immediately I heard Him say to me in my spirit, “I will take care of you (meet your needs) just because I love you!’’ Just Because I Love you!! That is what we do as earthly parents and we are made in His image. The simplicity of the truth of this wonderful relationship has caused us to miss these simple facts. Just because I love you I will take care of you. You do not have to earn it, intercede for it nor repent for days and fast for it, but it is yours because of what He has done for us. He has made us accepted in the Beloved and we are One with Him. We are His body and He is our Head! What is His belongs to you and me. We are loved and our perfection is in Him, not in our performance. Because of His love for us, it should compel us to obey Him and stay under His sheltering arm as a lamb being carried against His chest. The second thing He said to me was, “Stop trying to get me to do things for you that I have already done.” Immediately I knew He was speaking of the covenant, of His promises that all that He has belongs to you and me. Then I understood how faith works. Faith works by love. When you and I understand how deeply, passionately, and personally He loves us and we are aware of it, believe it and know in our hearts that as a Father He is willing, our faith will work every time without fail and without begging and trying to get it to happen. When we have a revelation of being loved by God unconditionally, even before we can ask we will find our heart’s desires being fulfilled. Believe the love and never doubt it! He will take care of you because He loves you. Believe it, expect it and never doubt it. Think daily when you rise and when you eat and when you go to bed at night about His great love for you. Faith works by knowing He loves you! He loves YOU! When you know someone loves you and is willing to take care of you, you never worry about it or wonder. You just know and believe and expect that what you need will be supplied. How much more will our faith work by knowing this is how God feels about us. It is not about how often we go to church, how much money we give or how many good deeds we have done. It is about knowing how loved we are which produces goodness in our hearts, and love for others which manifest in kindness, imitating Christ and the gospel being lived and experienced instead of just talked about. It is the greatest love story every told. It is where all love comes from and what we experience on this earth in the way of love is a reflection of Him and His great love for us. It was settled at Calvary. We are His. He is our Source and He is willing! The more we meditate on His love for us, the more we will become like Him. Believe He loves you. Know that we do not have to try to get Him to do things for us but just remember that your faith works by knowing He loves you. Meditate on that scripture until it is cemented into your heart. Faith works by love. Faith works by love. Faith works by knowing, understanding He loves you. Picture for a moment Calvary. As you remember Jesus willingly hanging there, suffering great tormenting pain and separation from His Father know that this is how He feels about you. No matter who you are or where you have been in life. No matter what you have done, He died for you and if you will ask Him to forgive you and take Him into your heart and life as your Lord and Savior, He will never leave you nor will He ever turn His back on you. Calvary is the place He demonstrated His affection and desire to bring you to Him. It was there He took your place and set you free. It is faith in that sacrifice and His love that held Him on that tree that is your title deed to eternal life and freedom from sin. You see faith works when you understand that it was His love for you that held him to the cross. It gives Him pleasure to forgive and bring us home to Him. It gives him pleasure to give good things to those who love Him and to care for, protect, and deliver you and me. Stop trying to get God to do things for you He has already done and know that He will take care of you because He loves you. Love Him and spend time thinking about His goodness. Tell Him many times a day how much you love Him and ask Him to give you direction and guidance. Living for Jesus is not a hard thing. It is a relationship in which He has purchased our freedom and life with His own blood and through that act, we now have access to receive His love which makes our faith work as a willing God finds pleasure in giving good gifts to his children. It is a relationship and there is nothing complicated about it. It is faith that works because we know He loves us. He will take care of you just because He loves you! It was food fit for a king and if I were to guess how many of those burgers I put away in those four years of high school, I would say that 9 months of school with an approximate average of 21 school days per month times four years would be, maybe 800 hamburgers but then there were weekends too and well 800 is a conservative figure, maybe. My math teacher might disagree but then again, who cares at this point. I just wanted to make it clear that some of the greatest moments of yesterday were spent in Cherry Drugstore eating hamburgers that deserved a blue ribbon. A big thanks to the Cherry family for some of the greatest moments from yesterday. Mr. and Mrs. Cherry and son, Arbrey Hedley, Texas—1961 “Good News” Page 9 Forgiveness : The Key to Freedom! By susan Finny Daniel We are always proud to say that we follow Jesus Christ. We show that by loving others and being concerned about their life. Through our lives we try to show that we do what Jesus did and taught us. But we see at many times we simply ignore the main and most important part of being like Jesus. is, Forgiveness. Forgiveness means letting go. Forgiveness does not come easily. It comes through much hard work and perseverance. It is easy to make excuses and blame others , and justify our actions and attitude. It is easy to say its his fault. It is easy to point a finger at a person. I have heard most people saying.. "I forget".. but it is very rare to hear.. "I forgive". And indeed it is hard for us to forgive someone who has done wrong to us. One Christian lady kept on provoking me through different means. She had given me much trouble. I kept quiet and I prayed about this. Because of that person I had to face much difficulty. My life itself had changed negatively. I went through bitter pain. This was my first experience. I know who I am in Christ. So I had forgiven her. I prayed all the way saying "Lord..I am Your daughter. I do Your ministry. Help me to forgive, forget and let go of what she had done to me." Jesus showed forgiveness through His own life. After His birth the Bible mentions about Him only at the age of 30. That too a short period of 30 -33 years. That is just 3 years. And within that short span we know... Jesus gave food to the hungry.. healed the sick.. showed love and care to those who were rejected ignore and insulted by the society. But all we can see is.. in return.. the same people blamed Him...threw stones at Him.. mocked at Him..rejected Him..and crucified Him. But Jesus.. He just forgave them. His disciple Judah Iscariot.. he betrayed Jesus. But He loved him and was worried about Him. Friends..is it possible for us to do the same? Also we know that Jesus had loved Peter very much. But when He was caught and arrested Peter denied knowing Jesus 3 times. But Jesus forgave Him. That is why Jesus came to Peter when he was fishing in the lake. The world will hurt us ,reject us. People will do hard and terrible things to us. But we should always forgive and forget. I agree that when we are angered our emotions come out in words. But we should take that thing very serious in our life. Parents and children have issues. Husband and wife have issues. But these happenings are seen with a negative eye. When a person gets angry with you, he or she might say unwanted hurting and insulting things. Harsh words may come due to the uncontrollable anger. We should remember that he or she might have not meant to say and act like that. We should forgive them. If we look at the negative side..we can never forgive and forget. Especially married couples. Many families are destroyed because they cannot forgive and forget. Forgiveness is a choice. And we must choose to forgive those who have done us wrong. Then give them into God's hand. Leave it there itself. Give your hurt and hard feelings to Him. Pray and break the bondage of unforgiveness. Unforgiveness is a form of hatred against another. The feeling of hatredness or bitterness is a poison. The reason the devil wants you to hold on to bitterness is because it is a deadly poison to your soul. We should never hold on to bitterness and hatredness and unforgiveness. When God reminds you to forgive do not ignore. Allow God to set you free. You will never regret it. Release yourself from the hurt feelings and let them go. Stop carrying those feelings and burdens and let that poison out of your soul. If you are a true Christian it is your responsibility to forgive others. It is high time you forgive and set yourself free from the burdens you carry. Do not delay. Do it today. You will experience freedom like never before. Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com CHRISTIAN WRITER Miracle Covenant Church Healing Center 804 S. So many today are not walking as if their lives exemplify the power of the risen Christ, or that they’ve been delivered from sin, filled with His Spirit, walking in the favor of God or living a victorious Christian life by standing on His Word. So, what kind of messiah are you looking for? What kind of messiah are you trusting in? Is your religious experience just a matter of accepting some intellectual devised rules, organized traditions and social values as you gather with other like-minded friends on Sunday mornings? Or do you really believe that He has risen and is alive forever more? In John chapter 20, after the crucifixion of Jesus, early on that Sunday morning, Mary Magdalene came to anoint the body of Jesus with spices but found that the stone had been rolled away from in front of the tomb. As she pondered what had happened, even after seeing and hearing from two angels and seeing Jesus, her heart was still filled with dismay. John 20:15 NIV says, “Jesus asked her, "Woman, why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?" Thinking he was the gardener, she said, "Sir, if you have carried him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will get him.” To console her weeping, he tenderly asked her those two questions, which were the first words of the risen Jesus, for Mark tells us, "He appeared first of all to Mary of Magdala.” Overwhelmed with grief, preoccupied with sorrow, confused by her perception, weeping the loss of His missing body and her face filled with a river of tears, she thought him to be the gardener. She thought him to be the caretaker of the grounds perhaps who had been with Joseph of Arimathaea when His body was laid and sealed in that tomb. Filled with terrifying grief, she had no notion of the Resurrection. She was utterly overcome with one bitter and cruel thought. That the sacred body, of which she had come to anoint, was gone and had be stolen. Her passionate burst revealed her ongoing love for her savior, for her mind was still fixed on the fact that His body had be taken. So she pled for an act of kindness to be demonstrated and told him that she would move His body away. You cannot help but be touched by her love at this point. When Jesus was crucified, he was in the prime of His life at 33 years of age, a strong figure of a young man. Upon His burial perhaps several additional pounds of spices had been added to the weight of His body. Yet Mary, as small and frail as she was, thought nothing less than carrying him away with her if he would show her where the body has been moved. Then, just like in the story of Joseph in Genesis 45:1, our risen savior Jesus Christ could no longer restrain Himself and made Himself known to her. Christ always reveals Himself to those that earnestly seek Him. Are you aware that the hardest spots in life can also become the place of new revelation or a new beginning? The key towards overcoming fear, conquering obstacles and moving beyond your wounded past is in coming to know and maintaining intimate fellowship the Risen Messiah, Christ Jesus. Then you’ll realize and experience His presence, love and awesome power through His Word and Holy Spirit in your life and circumstances. THEREFORE, HAVE FAITH IN GOD! “Will You Trust Me Even If You Don’t Understand Or Can’t See What I’m Doing?” Will you trust God if you’re being led in ways that may clash with your personal plans, conflict with your natural thinking, defy your logic or seem drastically different from your normal way of doing things? He said that he couldn't because it was a confidential matter. (LOL! When was the last time someone told you that in an attempt to cover up their own sin or that of a friend) It was 1978 and Shari and I were living in a little town in northeastern Kansas called Sabetha, where I had been the minister at a small church for about 2 years. One of our ladies at church had a husband who was an unbeliever, in fact he owned the local bar & pool hall. She had asked me to reach out to him and Jerry and I had even developed a friendly relationship. I had asked if I could talk to him about the Lord and had finally gotten him to agree to have a Bible study. But there was a catch: it had to be during the bar's operating hours and AT THE BAR. I told Jerry, "No problem." He told me that it was one of our teenagers. "OK, then I can understand why he called you and not me. However, now we need to talk about your sin. You not only didn't call me, but then you basically told everyone in church by calling this meeting and telling them the reason for the meeting. And you know good and well what Matthew 18 commands. So what would you like to say?" I was proud of that man that day, he immediately admitted his sin and asked me for forgiveness. I gladly told him, "Sure, you are forgiven." "Now we need to talk about everyone else's sin. All of you got a call from *** and not one of you called me to ask about this matter. And not one of you asked *** if he had spoken with me privately which is what Matthew 18 commands." The following Saturday night my wife and some of the other churchwomen were hosting a wedding shower at my house. So I took the groom, Hugh, one of my good buddies, and we headed out to Jerry's bar/pool hall locatedsmack dab in the middle of town on Main St. When Hugh and I walked into thebar, the looks on the faces of his customers weren't all that welcoming. One of the men asked me, "Well, what in the world are you doing in here, preacher?" Almost in unison all of the men in the room asked for forgiveness and that part of the matter was over. I then explained, "I was having a Bible study with Jerry at the back snooker table at the bar. Now do you see why Jesus commanded that we go PRIVATELY first, before we talk to others? This whole stinking mess could have been avoided. Now we even have to make an announcement at church because some of the folks not in this room have probably heard something too. We need to learn a BIG lesson from this. I replied, "Well, I'm here to find out if the owner of this establishment is a man of his word." Jerry pointed to the back of the large room and asked one his customers to watch the bar for a while. We walked to the back snooker table. And we did. I can honestly say that never again while I was there did things go public before they were discussed privately first. Thank You, Jesus, for Your words in Matthew 18. God bless. Mike Jerry said, "So, I guess you're here to call my bluff, huh." Mike Sublett (Pastor) Hi-Land Christian Church 1615 N. Banks St. Pampa, Texas 79065 <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] "Remember: KNEE-OLOGY will always keep your THEOLOGY on the right path. So PRAY!" I firmly replied, "I sure am. Now are you a man of your word or not?" Jerry nodded that he was. We spent the next hour or two looking at scriptures about sin, forgiveness, salvation and most importantly about JESUS! When we finished Jerry said, "Well, you've certainly given me something to think about." I thanked Jerry for keeping his word and Hugh and I left. The next day at church one of the men came up to me and informed me that there was an unscheduled men's meeting after church that morning. I thought that was a little strange, but thanked him for letting me know. When I walked into the room everyone's eyes were fixed on me, and not in the good way either. I sat down and one of the men informed me that the reason for the meeting was that he had received a call about me frequenting the local bar and pool hall and that the men of the congregation wanted an explanation. I think they probably thought I would be scared, but I was IRATE! I quickly prayed for control of my temper. The Lord was faithful as He always is and kept me from exploding. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among his wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. Matthew 13 2426 Many of our farmers will rotate their crops in their fields. One year they will raise cotton, the next milo, and then the next another crop. While they do an outstanding job of harvest cleaning the fields of as much of the crop as possible, there are some seeds that fall to the ground. As they get covered by soil when planting the next crop they sprout and grow. Now if you are planting cotton in a field you really don’t want milo or corn growing up in the cotton patch. What was once meant for harvest now becomes a weed. You can try and spray it but you remember that the corn was round-up ready and will not be affected by the poison. So then by hand you must remove these once good plants that are now weeds. Weeds and plants for harvest can grow simultaneously side by side. They compete for moisture and nutrients. As a young boy growing up on the farm though I remember that a few watermelon seeds were thrown in with the cotton seed at planting. This was done on purpose so that when you were chopping weeds or picking cotton you could have a watermelon break. But when mechanical cotton harvesters came along you did not want to run watermelons inside the machine. The enemy was volunteer plants coming up in a different crop for our farmers today. The enemy for the farmer in this parable was Satan. Satan planted a weed that was probably called darnel in Jesus’ time on earth. The good seed are those who belonged to Christ. Christians are in this world together with those who reject Jesus. Looking on the outside it very hard to tell the difference. The weed darnel is very hard to distinguish from wheat until it begins to mature. The farmer did not want to pull the weed darnel up from the wheat for it would have pulled wheat up as well. God is not going to remove those from our lives that are the analogy of weeds. The lost will always be with us. Now we can choose to remove ourselves from the lost and only surround ourselves with what we believe are Christians. When a farmer plants a crop he usually very carefully computes how many seed per foot he can plant. If you get it too thick the plants will quickly come up and grow at a rapid pace. The plants compete with each other for the nutrients and this causes the rapid growth. But when the nutrients are depleted then the thickly populated plants begin to wither and produce very little. There is a need for us to avoid too much contact with the weeds in our lives. But it is impossible to be a part of the mission of God and not place yourself in the midst of the lost. It is important for the devoted follower of Christ to return from the mission to Him. When Jesus sent out the seventy-two he sent them two by two to help each other. We need a partner to help us when we are in the world. If Jesus is truly your Lord you will never be alone. Keep your eyes on things above for that is where your home is at. Those Jesus sent out two by two also returned to Him. They had a celebration of what Christ had done through them. For me this is what each Sunday is about. Celebrating all that Christ has done through you and for you on the other days of the week. Church is not the gas station to get recharged. You should be charged as the seventytwo were when you enter back into the presence of Jesus. Don’t let the weeds uproot you or steal your joy, the nutrient of Christ. Please follow along to learn about this scary new threat, and what you need to change right now to be safe. For years, I've been giving you the heads up and the tools to keep you, your family and your money safe from all the bad guys out there who are forever trying to rip you off. Now I've found a scary new way hackers can target you without you even realizing it. And by the time you do catch on, it will probably be way too late! It all involves your smartphone, your cell provider and text alerts. By now, most folks are completely used to communicating back and forth with family and friends via text. Businesses have caught on, too. Text is a cheap and easy way for companies to connect with customers. One type of company that uses texts a lot is our cellphone providers. After all, they already have our cellphone numbers so it's simple for them to push out messages. Cellphone providers regularly send text alerts and other messages to users. These messages might be a warning that you are approaching your data limit or that your monthly bill is ready. I just got a text the other day from Verizon with a friendly heads up that my bill is ready. Pretty convenient, right? Just one problem. I don't use Verizon and if I did, I really have no idea if this is actually from my legitimate cellphone provider or where the link might take you! And here's the reality: In your busy life, it is very tempting to just click on the link and enter your login credentials, right? Guess what? If this message is from a hacker, you just gave away the keys to your cellphone account and perhaps everything else that goes with it perhaps even your credit card numbers. Once again, the bad guys have figured out how to exploit a shortcut any of us use, so they can have a chance to rip us off. If you have doubts on this type of texts, either call the company the text come from and find out if it is legitimate or not. If you do not have the time, do not click on the links to check it out until you do have the time. Anymore questions about this type of hack? Call or come by Animal Computers for more information!
