Because January is over and we are little closer to the summer months featuring sun, warmth and long evenings. First up though - thanks to all who came out for the Birthday Party. We had a blast and the memory book certainly got people talking, especially because Scott had hair in those pictures. Next weekend we have the 18th Annual Bonnie Harrell Charity Beach Ball benefitting the Southeastern Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Charity. If you don't have plans for Friday night and want to hear great music whilst helping the Alzheimer’s charity come out to the Wyndham Hotel at 56th St at the ocean front. Tickets are NOT required but a small donation at the door would be appropriate. The same weekend is the Polar Plunge benefitting the Special Olympics of Virginia. It is not too late to plunge, or purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a decorated chair built and donated by Built to Last Furniture. See Jennifer Banks or Tom Gorman for details. February 15th at 4pm we have the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of Mosaic Steel Orchestra at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church 5181 Singleton Way in Virginia Beach. Admission is free but there will be a donation jar to help fund he bands trip to Trinidad this summer. Afterwards we thought a social would be a nice way to round out the weekend at AJ Gators located in the Fairfield shopping center at the corner of Providence and Kempsville roads. Moving in to March we have the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday March 14th. We are always well received at this event and will have thousands of beads to hand out this year. So mark the date on your calendar and plan to attend and maybe pick up a wee bit of Irish luck. April 19th sees the return of Jimmy’s buffet, I had a feeling this was to become an annual event. Details are in this edition of the Beacon but again mark your calendar. Peggy Lee can answer any questions you may have. - Gordon Hallowes, Prime Minister Editor [email protected] 757-708-4187 The Board of Directors Meeting Minutes, Treasurer's Reports, and Parrot Point list are available for review at the Secretary's table at each general meeting.
