“Ken” Ploeger - The Greater Cincinnati Police Historical Society

Lieutenant Joseph Kenneth “Ken” Ploeger (1942 - 2015)
Ken was born August 28, 1942 in Cincinnati to Joseph B. and Rose M. (O’Brien)
Ploeger. He attended Finneytown High School, graduating in 1961.
Ken joined the Northern Hills Fire Department and served there until 1967.
Ken joined the Springfield Township Police Department on
October 1, 1967. He was promoted to Sergeant and then to
Lieutenant during the 1980s. He retired from full time service on
January 20, 1995. Lieutenant Ploeger continued as a part time
officer until January 2003 when he left with more than 35 years of
service to his community and several letters of commendation
and/or appreciation from citizens and other law enforcement
agencies.
Lieutenant Ploeger passed away peacefully on Sunday, January
25, 2015 at the age of 72.
Lieutenant Ploeger was predeceased by his wife, Carol Ann (Teel) Ploeger. He is
survived by his daughter, Kelli (Jerry) Hinn; grandson, Spencer Hinn; and siblings,
Robert (Rita) Ploeger, Tony (Sue) Ploeger, and David (Jeanie) Ploeger.
Visitation will be held at 9:30 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at Saint Vivian
Church at 7600 Winton Road in Finneytown. A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 11 a.m.
