SANDIP SOMANY AND PRASHANT MODI TAKE OVER AS PRESIDENT &
VICE PRESIDENT OF ICC INDIA
Mr Sandip Somany, Joint Managing Director, Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Ltd, and Mr Prashant Modi, President and Chief Operating Office, Great Eastern Energy Corporation Ltd. have taken over as the President & Vice President of ICC India respectively at the conclusion of 84th Annual General Meeting of ICC India held in New Delhi on January 27, 2015. ICC India is the Indian Affiliate of the Paris based International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the world business organization with presence in over 120 countries. Mr Sandip Somany, President, ICC India, is Joint Managing Director of Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Limited. Mr Somany is the Past President of PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a member of the National Executive Committee, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). Mr Sandip Somany has been a member in various Committees of the Bureau of Indian Standards. He was also a member of the Governing Body of All India Organization of Employers. Starting his business career as Trainee in the Group companies from 1982, he was appointed as Vice President (Technical) of Hindustan Sanitaryware & Industries Ltd., at its plant at Bahadurgarh in 1985 after an extensive 3 years training. He was specifically given the responsibility of overseeing the modernization and expansion programme of the company embarked upon in 1985 which was successfully completed. In 1990 Mr Somany was elevated to the position of President of the company and in 1994 was appointed Joint Managing Director of the company. Mr Somany lead HSIL to its current status where HSIL is a leading player in Bathroom products and glass business. His efforts resulted in getting HSIL into the Forbes List of the top 100 small & medium companies (turnover less than USD 1 billion). Under Mr Somany the company has been growing at Compounded Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 25% over the past seven years with current turnover of about Rs.2000 Crore per annum. Mr Somany is member of Delhi Chapter of the Young Presidents Organization and Delhi Achievers Round Table, which are worldwide organizations. Mr Sandip Somany is an enthusiastic supporter of the Green Movement, which shows in the high level of environmental maintenance in and around all manufacturing units. All the manufacturing units of HSIL are zero discharge water units and all the processed water is treated and reused. Providing education to children is a cause, which is very close to his heart. In that respect Somany family runs school and college in their native in Chirawa, Rajasthan with over 1800 students. He graduated in Commerce from Delhi University and also studied Ceramic Manufacturing Technology from the University of California, USA. Mr Prashant Modi, Vice President, ICC India, is President & Chief Operating Officer, Great Eastern Energy Corporation Ltd. Mr Modi has been associated with the Company and its Promoter Group companies since 1996. He is responsible for day‐to‐day operations of the Company and supervised the Company’s efforts in relation to the listing of our Company’s GDRs at the Alternate Investment Market in the London Stock Exchange in 2005 and 2006, and thereafter shifting them to the main board of the London Stock Exchange in May 2010. He has received a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University, USA with a major in finance. He has also undertaken executive education courses from Harvard Business School, USA, one in finance and another on launching new ventures. He is currently undertaking the renowned “Owner President Management Program” at Harvard Business School. He’s a member on the following prestigious National and International bodies: 

Modi Group, he worked with ANZ Bank, London and Qualcomm Inc, San Diego, USA.
