Saint-Emilion, Margaux, Médoc, Graves… the world-famous

Arcachon and the basin to which it has given its name, a little inland
sea devoted to oyster-farming. Climb on board a pinnace, a typical
local boat, for passing close to the Ile aux Oiseaux, or bird island,

A slice of bread with salty butter, a piece of cheese, and a bowl of
cider… You are most certainly in Normandy, a region renowned
for its table arts, but not only for its table arts. Every year, an
extraordinary treasure brings over 500,000 visitors to Giverny: the
home of Claude Monet, one of the masters of impressionism. Walk
up the few steps to the entrance, open the door, and just let yourself
be carried away.
Claude Monet painted his most famous works here for 43 years.
For example, the paintings of the Nymphéas, inspired by the water
garden whose décor he designed himself. His home, discerning, but
brightly coloured at the same time, reveals his pronounced taste for
Japan: over 200 Japanese prints decorate the walls. Outside in the
garden, every year and every season, thousands of flowers reinvent
the unique atmosphere of the works of one of the greatest painters
of his time. An unforgettable visit! Followed by a visit to a traditional

Lunch at a restaurant, followed by a guided tour, on foot,
of the old city of Naples, classified as UNESCO world

warmth and popular culture live side by side with the splendid
testimonies of three thousand years history. Keep your eyes wide
open: the ancient remains extend beneath the surface of the bay
and almost 450 churches, classical or really unusual, are to be
found throughout the city. Museums, palaces, libraries… every one
harbours its own share of treasures.
And, to feel Neapolitan immoderation just as well as possible, turn
round to face the omnipresent volcano. Admire it from the city
heights and then visit the archaeological site of Pompeii, where, at
the beginning of our era, the Roman city was eternally buried by a
violent eruption. A visit placed under the sign of emotion.

SHORT STAYS
Geneva and Annecy, a story of
water
Programme :
Friday: Arrival at Bellegarde in the middle of the morning
and then off to Geneva for a guided tour around the old
town and the Reformation Wall. Departure for Thonon-lesBains after lunch. A guided tour of the fishing port and the
marina. Dinner in a restaurant and the night at a hotel.
Saturday: Visit to the castle of Ripaille, the former home of
the Dukes of Savoy, followed by a commented boat-trip on
Lake Geneva to the mediaeval village of Yvoire. Lunch at a
restaurant, followed by a visit to the village. Departure for
Annecy at the end of the day and dinner at the hotel.
Sunday: A guided tour of the castle and the canal banks by
foot in the morning, a stroll around the traditional market
and lunch at a restaurant. In the afternoon, an excursion to
the castle of Montrottier and the spectacular Gorges of the
River Fier. Return to Paris in the evening.
Dozens of fishing boats and yachts, a mass of blue on a background
of eternal snow…, Lake Geneva, the link between Haute-Savoie and
Switzerland, is a whole world in itself. Take the time to discover its
size from the funicular at Thonon-les-Bains, a spa reputed for the
clearness of its water. Listen to the history of the mediaeval castle of
Ripaille at Yvoire, so closely related with that of the Dukes of Savoy.
Then from the European headquarters of the United Nations up
to the Wall of Reformation, discover the very special atmosphere
found in Geneva, Switzerland’s most international city.
You would like to stop off somewhere else? A stone’s throw away
from Lake Geneva, Annecy, the “Rome of the Alps” awaits you with
its old town criss-crossed by canals, its deep blue lake, its marina…
and its beaches. An ideal spot for discovering the subtle flavours of
féra, lake trout or even char, stars amongst all the lake’s varieties of
fish.

PRACTICAL GUIDE
CHANGES TO THE PROGRAMME
INSURANCE
The programme featured in the brochure is purely
indicative. Campus France reserves the right
to modify a programme in the event of adverse
weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances
at the last minute. The escorts will take these
decisions on the spot. Such changes will not entitle
participants to the total or partial refund of the cost
of the activity.
• If you are a member of our French social welfare
system, you are covered against all risks incurred
during the activity except for any exclusions
provided for, including for the practice of sports.
Administrative formalities for travel abroad
Always check before departure that you are
permitted to travel to and in the country of
destination, and/or that you are in possession of a
valid passport.
Important: a receipt for an application for a
residence permit does not entitle you to leave
French soil.
A receipt from the Préfecture de Police for an
application for the renewal of a residence permit is
accepted, however.
• Holders of a valid temporary residence permit
(student or scientist) or of a Schengen «multiple
entry» visa: no administrative formalities required.
• Non-holders of a residence permit: you should
check with the Préfecture of your department of
residence and with your country’s Consulate or
Embassy in order to obtain the authorisations
necessary to leave and enter French territory.
• If you are a member of the French Social
Security scheme for Students and have
complementary insurance (through a «mutuelle»),
you are covered against all risks incurred.
Punctuality (departure, meeting and return
times) is imperative. Out of respect for the other
participants, the group will not wait for latecomers.
We suggest you keep the programme for the
activity with you, so that you can catch up with
group later, at your own expense. The escort will
hand you your admission ticket(s) to shows at the
agreed meeting point. If you are late, your ticket(s)
will be left at the box office for you to collect.
• If you are in any other situation, you must take
out specific insurance to cover you against any
risks of which you might be a victim or any loss or
damage you might cause to a third party.
• Campus France accepts no liability in the event
of theft of personal possessions or tickets. Be
vigilant, keep all your papers and valuables with
you.
Good manners
You have booked a trip as part of a group made up
of people of different nationalities.
Respect for others, tolerance, friendliness and
dialogue are the values we believe in and hope to
share with you during these activities.
