February 2015 53 Salsaal e Safa Editorial O! THOSE WHO TAKE PRIDE BECOMING SIBLINGS OF SATAN Gayas Ahmed Rashadi Inspite of various organisations, groups and movements determinately striving for reforming the society and for eradication of ceremonies, innovations, rituals, frivolousness particularly associated with marriages; the state of affairs of the Muslims is such that the expenditure which used to be incurred on marriages in the past is being incurred on engagements alone now-a-days. The world is progressing but the intellect of these people is dwindling who are considered astute and cerebral in the society; is it prudence that the money earned through years of hard work is washed-out in a few hours and just for the sake of fame and eminence lakhs of rupees are blown off; as such these people are awarded aptly by the Holy Quran as "siblings of Satan", Verily the spendthrifts are the brothers of devils. The astonishing part is that these fools with hollow intellect are proud of their acts instead of being remorseful. This is the reason that people after performing the marriages of their sons or daughter in an evil way; comment that their marriage was of such standard that none other in the locality could match it; whilst Allah has commented about them that through these marriages they have become brothers of Satan. Do those who indulge in thrift and extravagance in conducting marriage ceremonies believe that it would fetch blessing to their homes? The Prophet's (SAW) saying has answer to this: The Best marriage in terms of blessing is the one on which the least is spent. The major loss for those who perform marriages with lavishness is the expulsion of blessing. The fate of the marital lives of the couples whose marriage is devoid of blessing is anyone's guess. To comprehend the reality one may have a look at the article of Mr. Syed Mohammad Irfan Pasha published in Munsif Daily on 15th January 2015. February 2015 52 Salsaal e Safa EARNEST REQUEST TO COMPATRIOT WEALTHY PEOPLE CNN has presented a research done by the professors of Emory University, Andrew M. Francis and Hugo M. Mialon, on 13th October 2014; according to which extravagant marriage ceremonies play no role in making the marital life cheerful, infact these people are often deprived of jovial marital life. Lives of 3151 married people had been studied in the survey and they were asked various questions. After the research, it came to light that those who were married in a simple way had a strong marital bonding and the divorce rate was low among them. Professor Hugo says that low expenditure on marriage provides financial peace of mind to the young couples and the burden of financial expenses before and after marriage is not present in their minds and they live jovially instead of living a grumpy life. Blessings be on the Prophet (SAW) who, 1400 years ago, had already comprehended this research through these words: The most blessed marriage is that in which the expenditure is the least. (Musnad Ahmad 24529). Have you ever realized the plight of the daughter of a poor from our society upon the marriage and valima ceremonies of our sons and daughters, sumptuous feats, several day ceremonies-reckoning dow ry a nd c om fo rt s of l if e- la vis h cl ot he s an d he ap s of jewelry-fulfilling every whim of son-in-law? Spending beyond means on engagements, farewell and valima just for the sake of fame and smugness have enormously inflated the expenses of marriage. We have no estimate of the number of girls still waiting to get married for want of the heavy expenditures involved; of the fathers and brothers set out on the path of illegitimate procurement of earning; or burdened with such huge debts that they are unable to raise their heads; how many properties have been lost for the sake of false pride and how many families have been ruined financially after marriages-kindly ponder-are these the traits of noble husbands? This showoff of yours is becoming the source of worst deterioration in the society. May Allah have mercy on the community! Please follow the Prophet's (SAW) Traditions and adopt simplicity. February 2015 41 Salsaal e Safa WHY OuR PRAYERS ARE NOT ANSWERED? Mohammad Abdul Jameel Sahib This is a famous story mentioned in the Holy Quran in Sura Al-FIL,that took place in 570 AD before the birth of PROPHET MOHAMMAD (SAW). Abrah (Governor) of Yemen built tall luxurious church, decorated it with gold, silver and precious stones, he meant it to be an architectural master piece. The purpose of building it was to attract the people of Yemen and other pilgrims. He proclaimed throughout his kingdom, that from now on pilgrimage should take place to his so called KABA in Yemen. Though Arabs were Idol worshippers those days, the love and reverence for the religion of Prophet Ibrahim (A.S) and the love of KABA permeated their hearts, and as a result Quraish and other tribes were enraged by his proclamation. One night someone entered the church and defecated in it and according to some other narrations, a nomadic tribe camped near the church and started fire for their need; fire spread due to winds and church caught fire and sustained great loss. When Abrah came to know about it and learnt that the Quraish had done this, he swore to march Makkah. He prepared himself, set out with a huge powerful army and Elephants. They arrived at a place called Wadi-Mohassir 3 Km from Makkah and settled there, this was a Pasteur land where camels and other animals of Quraish grazed. Abrah sent troops to capture the camels and other grazing animals of Quraish, they also captured 200 camels of Abdul-Mutallib Grand Father of PROPHET MOHAMMAD (SAW) and the leader of the Quraish and sent a message by his emissary (Hanatah-Al-Himayari) to the leaders of Quraish. When Abrah saw Abdul-Mutallib he was February 2015 40 Salsaal e Safa imp r es sed b y his cha r ming a nd a tt r act ive per sonalit y. Abdul-Mutallib descended from his throne and sat beside Abrah and told him to return his camel's back. Abrah replied "When I first set my eyes on you, I admired you greatly and had great respect for you, but all that is lost now. You speak only about your camels, while you fully know that I have come to destroy your KABA (House of ALLAH), which is the embodiment of your religion and the religion of your fore fathers, you did not utter a single word nor persuade me to spare it. Abdul-Mutallib responded-"I AM THE OWNER OF MY CAMELS AND HENCE CONCERNED ABOUT THEM. I AM NOT THE OWNER OF ALLAH'S HOUSE - THE MASTER OF THE HOUSE KNOWS BEST HOW TO PROTECT HIS HOUSE." Abrah rudely rebuffed, "Your GOD cannot protect it from me." Abdul-Mutallib said "Do as you like". Abrah gave their camels back. Abdul Mutallib returned home with other chiefs of Quraish. Abdul-Mutallib with few figures of Quraish went to KABA and prayed earnestly, "We have no strength to face the army of Abrah, so O MY LORD protect your KABA." Having prayed earnestly they left with confidence that ALLAH'S scourge would overtake Abrah and his army. Abrah's plan back fired. ALLAH (SWT) destroyed Abrah's army with a flock of ordinary flying birds that threw upon them stones of baked clay which turned them into eaten-up chaff. If you see the other side of the coin, in spite of existence of many ISLAMIC and WEALTHY countries with huge Muslim population, there is no unity, no proper Leadership. If there is a war against any Islamic state, USA, Britain & Europion countries get united and attack that Islamic nation together. Even leaders of few Islamic countries support them, because they don't want to lose their CHAIR. Hajj is an ideal occasion for addressing important political and socio-economic factors affecting the Muslim communities of the world. The custodian of Haramain and other Muslim leaders of the world fail to realize the importance of such a big platform) to February 2015 39 Salsaal e Safa solve the problems of the Ummat of Prophet MOHAMMAD (SAW). Even though the QURAISH were NON-BELIEVERS, they had faith that Allah's scourge will come upon the army of Abrah. Today Millions of Muslim belief in Allah and perform HAJ and UMRAH but are not able to solve problems, WHY? Because we don't have 1. FEAR OF ALLAH 2. BELIEF IN ALLAH and 3. OUR DEEDS & CHARACTER are not good. 1. If one fears ALLAH, he will not deceive anyone. Today in every walk of life, transactions, business you see people telling LIES and cheating each other to fill their pockets. Those who FEAR to stand before ALLAH, there are TWO GARDEN (JANNATAN) for him. SURA RAHMAN Verse 46. 2. Belief in ALLAH, everybody is running after money, even when ALLAH (SWT) has promised that he is responsible for everything including the breadth you take. But we are running after this materialistic world and our needs and greediness has increased running from morning to evening and we are not afraid of taking bribes or bribing a person, taking loan from bank with Interest and giving loan with Interest. In Surah: Al-Baqarah: Verse 279 says taking money on Interest and giving on Interest, supporting, giving guarantee, guiding a person ---waging war against ALLAH and RASOOL (SAW)). 3. Our character has gone down, specially our younger generation, for a simple reason they get angry, have no respect for elders and do not know how to talk to them, especially Parents. Fighting among relatives. All the love and Affection has gone. Geor ge Ber nar d Shaw says-"ISLAM IS T HE BEST RELIGION WITH THE WORST FOLLOWERS. "We have to build our character as PROPHET MOHAMMAD (SAW) taught us, Be patient, control your anger, talk politely as there is saying that "GOOD WORDS BRING SNAKE OUT OF THEIR PITS."
