Trip to India
We are back – so much to tell and say. Am still in Kolkata in my mind – 27 degrees and sunny.
Hmmmm. And still on India time – woke up at 2 o’clock this morning
which would have been getting up time in Kolkata. The experience has
been life changing and as I feel the ‘real world’ pulling me back I am
fighting against it! Felt we had just scratched the surface of the most
wonderful, exhilarating, confusing country.
Kim and I will be at Parent Café on Monday, in saris, to share some of
our experiences and what we learned about the education system, the
culture and the people. We have taken millions of photos and bought
lots of resources which we will be taking round to all the classes next
week to share with the children. As a staff we will be discussing some of
the implications of the teaching we saw and the Indian approach to
education.

The trip has reminded me of the importance of travel; it allows you to
see your own world through different eyes. We can’t wait to share it all
with you.

All of the children in KS1 have travelled to Exeter by train this week which
has been incredibly exciting! The trip was linked to our current big
question of 'How could Paddington's life have changed - from Peru to
Paddington?' Visiting Exeter allowed the children to experience an
unfamiliar place like Paddington did and to see first-hand significant
landmarks in their local city, which they will be able to make reference
to in their story writing. Once they arrived, each child made their own
teddy at 'Build a Bear' and then the classes visited different landmarks
around the city including Exeter Cathedral.
The children have all behaved brilliantly during their visits and several
members of the public have remarked to the teachers how polite and
well-behaved the children were on the train and in the Cathedral.
Red Nose Day Friday 13th March Red noses are

Red Nose Day at Sticklepath School
Red Nose Day, Friday 13th March, the School Council have organised a fantastic event to
help raise money for Comic Relief. We are going to have a non-school uniform day with a tv
or movie theme. That means you can dress up as your favourite star or character! The cost
of dressing up will be 50p and this will all go to the Red Nose Fund. Also, Toyota - a car company in Roundswell have offered to support our fundraising by providing great prizes for a
super competition. They are asking children to design and draw a new car with a red nose
theme. We will provide a template for your design to be drawn on. The cost of entry is 50p
and you could win prizes including a family meal at Pizza Hut! More details to follow but get
planning your ideas and outfits now!
