I have no hesitation recommending Homunculus as wonderful workshop facilitators and performers. – COOPER SCREEN ACADEMY, TAS An engaging and belly laughing day that the students are still talking about! – ST. MARY’S COLLEGE, QLD ARTIST IN RESIDENCE PROGRAMS Artist In Residence Programs have the potential to offer students an experience they will remember and treasure far beyond school. residencies may involve intensive workshops over a week or several weeks. Longer term residencies usually involve the collaborative If I could give a piece of advice to teachers considering booking a Residency with Homunculus it would be this: Don’t think about it, do it! Your students will grow in confidence and ability and your staff will be re-energized with possibilities. Quite honestly, the best chunk of my budget I have ever spent. – GULLFORD YOUNG COLLEGE, TAS In working with Homunculus as our Artists in Residence, we saw our students become a dynamic ensemble. Under their direction the group could trust the process, work openly and confidently, and take risks as performers. A wonderful experience for all of us. – CLAYFIELD COLLEGE, QLD By far the most education, entertaining and curriculum relevant residency I have ever experienced! – ST. AUGUSTINE’S COLLEGE, QLD PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR TEACHERS Homunculus can offer teachers interactive, engaging and practical professional development programs in a range of comedic forms to support their work within the curriculum. These unique intensives provide an invaluable opportunity to work with internationally acclaimed Commedia dell’Arte, Mask, Traditional and Contemporary Clowning, Absurdism. Slapstick and Stage Combat, Non-Verbal Communication and Mime and Physical Theatre and Circus. By the second day the mask work had progressed from solo to the ensemble. We quickly learned different ways to work within the ensemble, and to be a catalyst for change. We experimented with taking control of and driving an idea, and then letting the idea drive them. The mask work really helped teachers to separate their physicalisation and their facial work, and to realise that voice does not have to be the dominant factor in performance. Many of these things may seem obvious, but students often struggle with them. Homunculus were able to break through barriers. This was by far the best PD we had had in years. – GULLFORD YOUNG COLLEGE, TAS REGIONAL SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES Getting out into the regions is what Homunculus is all about. From Artist In Residence Programs, to school arts festivals, to local events, Homunculus can bring an array of options including roving and stage performance, (both teaching and performing), and workshops for all ages that will give your students an experience to remember.
