CONGRATULATIONS…PRINCIPAL MIKE THORPE!
One of our church members was recognized last week
for his outstanding leadership at Milton High School.
Principal Thorpe is Florida’s Innovative Principal of
the Year. This award is sponsored by the Florida
Council of Instructional Technology Leaders and
recognizes those leaders who excel in instructional
technology. Mr. Thorpe has developed, nurtured, and
promoted innovative technology at Milton High
School. This technology focuses on student
improvement in core areas such as algebra, reading, using GPS devices, and
educational apps. During his time as principal, Milton High School has moved
from a D School to an A School! He has been quite an innovator as he has used
podcasts, social media, and You Tube to encourage and inform students,
teachers, and parents. You may have also noticed that on Sundays he helps with
the audio and video technology at our church. We are really blessed to have
him on our worship team. He is now eligible for the national competition to be
held in Philadelphia in June. We know he will do well! Mr. Thorpe, we are
proud of you and grateful for your commitment to Christ and FBC.
LOTTIE MOON OFFERING
At the end of January, we close out our annual emphasis on the Lottie Moon
Christmas Offering for International Missions. We have not done very well this
year. As a matter of fact, we have fallen far short of our goal of $44,020.14. If
you’ve been planning to give, please make it soon as we will soon close the
books on this item. On a related note, it was so nice of Virginia Smith’s family
to ask that any donations in her memory be given to Lottie Moon.
HEAR YE! HEAR YE!
Notice is hereby given that on Sunday night, February 15 we will have a church
fellowship event in conjunction with our annual Men’s Cake Bake-off. The
service and a pot luck supper will take place in the Family Life Center. Our
theme for the cakes will be “Valentines and Sweethearts.” You have time to
plan your prize-winning cake. As usual, we will have “valuable prizes” and
recognition of our winners!
SOUPER SUNDAY THIS WEEK!
Did you get to see the Souper Bowl trophy on Sunday.
We have a picture of it here for you in case you missed it.
The Food Pantry Crew built this splendid trophy which
will be awarded on Sunday to the Sunday School
department which brings the most cans of soup for our
Food Pantry. Don’t forget your soup.
By the way, in 2014 our Food Pantry fed 15,994 people
and spent $28,000 in addition to the food you dropped
into the bins each week. This is a great ministry and is a
part of our mission to “love the city where we are
planted,” “embrace the hurting,” and extend the grace of
God to all.” Thank you, Food Pantry volunteers and thank
you who gave money and food. To God be the glory!

DiscipleNow
Feb 27 – March 1
$35.00
It is that time of year. We will be
hosting the Association DNow
weekend. This is a weekend
teenagers spend in host homes with
their friends. They spend the night
on Friday and Saturday. They have
a small group leader that guides
them through a study of some
scripture. We will meet together at
FBC for some worship rallies with a
great band to lead worship and a
great speaker to tune us into God’s
Word.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
HOST HOMES!! We need homes
for a group of 6-10 teenagers to stay
two nights. They can sleep on the
floor with sleeping bags. Student
ministry covers the food.
DRIVERS!! It is always great to
know there are drivers available to
get students around from one place
to another.
PRAY!! This event will be much
more memorable when lives are
changed because God’s people were
praying for students to catch
something new and make a deeper
commitment to Christ.
