I’ll be circulating through the event so feel free to say hi! Lisa Harold General Manager 4 Sales Center Happy New Year! If you have just arrived at Palm Creek and are either renting an RV or in your own home, we have many exciting things to tell you! We have introduced three new models: The Park Cottage (400 sq ft), Palm Cottage I (approx. 700 sq ft) and the Palm Cottage II ( approx. 900 sq ft). Every size, all price points and ready to move in. Many are already marked down with annual incentives and seven-year warranties. We are now also selling homes year-round and not just seasonally, as we have in the past. Pick your favorite space, and your dream home will be completed as fast as Cavco can build it and the contractors can set it! This month, please mark your calendars for the following dates: January 8th @ 1:00 pm please join me in the sales center for a TOUR OF ALL THE NEW HOMES. We will tour throughout the Resort in the golf carts viewing all the new homes in the resort. I will also have a drawing for a $100.00 gift card. Plus, we'll talk about landscaping and promotions, etc. January 22nd @ 9:30 am in the Ocotillo Room. I will be conducting a seminar: “Everything You Need to Know About Purchasing a Home in Palm Creek". This seminar is very informative and will help you with your decision to purchase a home. We’re looking forward to our “mini city” expanding even more so in the next few weeks as the remainder of our winter visitors head south! Please make sure that you check back in with Guest Services so we can get your name on the Gatehouse List, get your badges updated, and start Sewer & Trash charges. Please note that we are currently accepting same site reservations for our seasonal guests for the 2015-16 season. The forms can be turned in to Guest Services any time and the $400 deposit must be paid by February 28, 2015. For those seasonal guests wishing to change sites, we will open that process beginning February 9, 2015. Your $400 deposit will be due at the time of the reservation. Please remember, the only way to absolutely guarantee your site year-to-year is to become an annual! We have two improved lots currently available for those thinking about becoming annual residents. How does that work? Sign a two-year annual agreement with the park, and at the end of the two years, the lot improvements are yours! Lot #460 and #947 are available. Swing by and take a look! Speaking of annuals, please remember that everyone wishing to become an annual resident must fill out an application and be approved to be a tenant at Palm Creek. Regardless if you’re buying a home through the Sales Office or privately, all prospective buyers must be approved by Sun RV Resorts to become tenants at Palm Creek. MAIL ROOM Happy New Year! Welcome back to all our returning and new residents! Be sure to stop in to tell us you are here and open your mail box. We ask that you please be patient during our “Peak Season” as the mail and pink cards could be arriving late to boxes due to quantity. The Mail Room will be open from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm on New Year’s Day. Come visit us in the Bistro and find out about our delicious and creative daily specials. We encourage you to take one of our menus home with you, and if you’re up at the Administration Building, stop in and have lunch. In the mornings, we welcome the “men’s club” - a group of guys that let their wives sleep while they get out of the house and have coffee together. We offer several breakfast ‘quick heat’ items to fill the belly and charge you up, plus gluten-free options that are great ways to start the day. Marilyn Goeken Food Service Manager Remember, we began our clam chowder special and will be serving it every Friday: the meal is $7.00 per person, which includes a hearty bread bowl. If you choose, you can also have the bread on the side. We also have Chicken Tortilla Soup every Tuesday, beginning January 6 at $6.00 per person. We have had such a good time watching them play, and look forward to the winter season starting on January 6th! Lots of action going on the ballfield; our softball tournament is January 16th—18th, while the 65+ league will have their tournament January 30th and 31st. Plus, we can’t forget the mighty Silver Sliders, who will be with us all day on January 30th. It’s a great month of softball down at the field, with great food at the Grill to go along with it, so we hope to see you in the cheering section soon! I am pleased to introduce two of our staff at the Sports Grill—Bob and Sherian Fahrenbruch. Bob and Sherian have lived in Palm Creek for 10 years. They have been married for 54 years and are originally from Colorado where they raised their two children — and from whom they now proudly boast four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren on the way! Bob was raised on a farm, continuing in that profession for almost a decade after he and Sherian were married. Then he went into a successful, 22-year career as a communications executive before his retirement. Sherian worked for Hewlett-Packard for nearly 30 years; once ‘retired’, however, neither could just simply stay home and be idle. Both went to work for Banner Health for a few years afterward. Bob and Sherian love going on motorcycle trips every chance they can; Bob loves woodworking, photography, stained glass work and cooking. Sherian enjoys beading, wrap jewelry, and stained glass work as well. We’re really happy to have two such amazing and interesting people on our team and working with us every day. Hours of Operation: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 10:00 am—2:00 pm Cheri Anderson Sports Grill Supervisor Check out our menus, located at the Sports Grill next to the ballpark! All Prices include Tax. 21 Community YOU ASKED...WE LISTENED! Q: Is there a place we can bring, or arrange to bring, our personal fire extinguishers to one location and have them filled and/or checked? Or should we buy new ones? A: From Jim Dawson, Director of Facilities - “Typically, fire extinguishers purchased for home use are nonrefillable. If the extinguisher’s arrow is not in the green zone of the gauge, it should be tossed and replaced.” Q: The Ballroom floor is sticky, which may create a safety problem during events and parties. A: We ordered a special dance floor wax, which will arrive and be used on all the Ballroom floors before our big New Years bash. Thanks for letting us know! Q: Is there a directory of frequently used telephone numbers available, like Maintenance, Emergency, Activities, etc. that we can use? A: There is indeed a directory in the “Welcome Home “ magazine available at Guest Services, which is available to everyone at any time. However, we realize that most residents often carry The Happenings around with them, so we’ve also added a key numbers directory on page 22. Thank you for the suggestion! Have a question for our staff? Send it to [email protected], and we’ll do our best to find your answers! 22 Community January 25 - Colorado The Colorado State Party will be held Sunday, January 25th from 4:00pm to 6:00 pm in the SanTan Room. Our Palm Creek winter residence since 2005 has given us many friends and wonderful memories here at Palm Creek. In Joe’s last year of life, he started going to the Wood Shop here at the park and fell in love with woodturning. In his memory, I have established a memorial fund to purchase equipment for the Palm Creek Wood Shop. Thank you for all the love and support you have shown me since Joe’s passing on October 17th. Phyllis Beebe Casa Grande Street Fair and Car Show The 15th Annual Casa Grande Street Fair/Car & Bike Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, January 17th & 18th. Palo Verde Elementary School Holiday Fundraiser Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful Palm Creek residents and staff, we were able to present Palo Verde Elementary School with over $600 in supplies, clothing, and funds to help build a sunshade for the children’s playground. Phyllis Beebe presented Principal Joanne Kramer with the check just before the holidays. Thank you to each and every one of you who took time to donate. Our residents are truly the best people and the best neighbors!
