Existing students will be able to log straight into the webenrol service using their learner number and their password. If you need to find out your password, telephone 020 8460 0020 or email us at [email protected] and we will be able to issue your password. For non-accredited courses this will be a maximum of 20%. For courses marked the a Q symbol, (not 24+ ), the course may be free provided you can confirm that you are actively seeking work. If you are in receipt of a qualifying benefit, you will need to bring current evidence of this together with your passport, birth certificate or home office papers, to the College each time you enrol. 16-18 year olds The Department for Education will require anyone born on or after 1 September 1997 to remain in full time education or training till the end of the academic year when they turn 18. This means BAEC cannot claim any funding for these students and we must therefore charge a full cost recovery fee of £8.71 per hour in respect of ANY of our courses in addition to any other charges. If you born between 11 September 1995 and 31 August 1997 you can take one of our Q courses for free providing you can confirm you are not in full time education or training. If you are in full time education or training or wish to take any of our non-accredited courses, we must charge a full cost recovery fee of £8.71 per hour in addition to any other charges (the College only receives funds from the Skills Funding Agency to support adults on non accredited courses. Please note – Bromley Adult Education College cannot enrol you on another course while there is a balance of fees outstanding for any previous enrolment. Remember – there may be further costs e.g. course materials, tools and equipment, and examination/assessment fees. Enrolment on Accredited/Qualification courses By enrolling on an accredited course identified by the Q symbol, you will be automatically registered with the appropriate examination board and entered for the relevant examination or assessment. You may need to pay an additional fee for this. All students MUST take the examination/assessment. If you do not, you will be charged tuition fees at the rate of £8.71 per hour. Students not wishing to undertake an examination must ensure that they enrol on a non-accredited course. For further information, please check the course description available at www.baec.ac.uk or contact the Widmore Centre, prior to enrolment. The majority of our courses benefit from funding from the Skills Funding Agency (SFA), Education Funding Agency (EFA) or the European Social Fund (ESF). The SFA / ESF/EFA require the College to provide evidence of student identity and eligibility. For a student to be eligible for such funding, they must have a legal right to be resident in the UK / EEA for a period of time prior to the start of the course. For further guidance on eligibility please refer to the BAEC eligibility leaflet available at all centres and on the BAEC website. We have listed the most common scenarios but if you cannot identify your own situation, we will be happy to discuss this with you. The College will require you to provide your passport, birth certificate or home office papers to prove your eligibility. You will also be required to complete and sign an individual learner record to confirm eligibility. Anyone who, if required, fails to provide proof of their eligibility, will be charged tuition fees at the rate of £8.71 per hour plus any other costs. Anyone who is not eligible for such funding will also be required to pay tuition fees at the rate of £8.71 per hour plus any other costs. If you do reconsider your enrolment during this time, you will receive a refund of the money paid for the course(s). If, however, the course starts within the seven day cooling off period, your payment for the course indicates that you wish to undertake the course. Therefore, your right to cancel is lost if you choose to withdraw unless this is due to a course being proved to have been mis-sold by the College or to service failure. Your cancellation For cancellations after the seven day cooling off period. If you cancel your enrolment after the seven day cooling off period, you will not be entitled to a refund unless this is due to service failure. Request for refunds relating to service failure Should you request a refund based on a complaint about the quality of service provided by the College, your complaint will be dealt with from the time that your complaint is received by the College Customer Care Team. Please ensure that any complaints are made as soon as possible, in order that we can work together to ensure an appropriate way forward. Your complaint may be either in writing or by telephone to the Customer Care Team. The date of receipt of your claim will be the date from which your complaint is considered to have started. If we substantiate your claim, you will receive a proportional refund of the fees paid. If we do not substantiate your claim, you will not be entitled to a refund. Should you wish to challenge the outcome of such a decision, the appeal process is detailed in the Customer Care Policy. We regret that we are unable to offer refunds under any other circumstances. Please note there is usually a minimum £10 administration charge per course for changes to course enrolments. Re-Scheduled Classes We have tried to ensure the total accuracy of the programme, but sometimes we get it wrong. Although we will try to deliver the programme as advertised, changes might have to be made. Even with rigorous checking, there may be small differences in the fees for identical courses. The College reserves the right to cancel, combine or re-schedule courses or to make changes to course details advertised including cost, location, content and tutor. Please note that it is very important to attend the start of each course as further information and advice normally takes place on the first session. Should you have any concerns about your course once it has started, please discuss these concerns with your tutor as soon as possible. Bromley Adult Education College reserves the right to refuse admission or to refer students to more appropriate classes, on academic grounds if necessary. Registration You can now register for your course by paying directly in GBP (Sterling) over the internet, by debit or credit card (Visa, Mastercard and Electron are all accepted). Before enrolling on your chosen course please make sure that you have read the course content and that it covers all the requirements you are looking for. Examination entry requirements All fees are correct at time of going to press. Examination, accreditation and administrative costs are generally included in the course fee. External candidates may be accepted for some subjects only. To enquire, please contact Jane Monaghan (see below.) Remember: ■ The College may occasionally have to re-schedule a class due to unforeseen circumstances. Arrangements will be made to suit the majority of the class and availability of the tutor and suitable accommodation. We regret that if the new arrangement is not convenient to an individual student no refund for the missed session will be due. In circumstances where classes are cancelled for reasons outside the control of the College (e.g. very bad weather conditions) then every attempt will be made to make up any lost sessions. However, where this is not possible refunds will not be payable but students will be credited to the value of the lost sessions. Request for refunds relating to medical problems and general absence. The College is unable to make refunds for absence due to medical conditions, changes to work commitments or other reasons for not being able to attend the course as a part or a whole. Our cancellation Examination, accreditation and administrative fees are non-refundable as they are passed on to external awarding bodies. A deposit may be required from students who do not pay course fees. ■ GCSE Examination dates for summer 2015 are available from the examinations department. ■ Please check before booking holidays as they cannot be changed to suit individual requirements ■ You will be required to provide evidence of your identity before taking any exam ■ For some awarding bodies you will be required to have your photograph taken at each examination and, in some circumstances, have your voice recorded ■ It is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that Examination Entry or Registration forms arrive in the examinations department by the closing date on the form. Late entry or registration will require the candidate to pay additional fees ■ Examination or Assessment results will not be issued to any candidate with a fee outstanding on their account. ■ If the College cancels your course and we are unable to provide a suitable alternative, you will be entitled to a full refund of your fees. Contact details Should you have any queries regarding the refunds policy, these should be addressed to the Head of Service. Complaints Copies of the College Customer Care Policy are available from the website, on request from the College receptions or by writing to: Bromley Adult Education College, Widmore Centre, Nightingale Lane, Bromley BR1 2SQ. ■ Bromley Adult Education would not expect you to be studying the same subject elsewhere.
