Fees for international students 2015
This document lists the tuition fees, levies and insurance costs for study
at Victoria University of Wellington for international students in 2015.
TUITION FEES
FIELD TRIPS AND THESIS PUBLICATION COSTS
The tuition fees quoted on the following pages apply to courses
in 2015. Courses taken in subsequent years will be charged at
the rates for that year.
Costs associated with field trips and thesis publication are
not included in these fees estimates. However, the substantial
costs for field trips for the Master of Conservation Biology and
the Master of Marine Conservation are listed.
The tuition fees quoted are based on 120 points of study within
the Faculty offering the qualification, unless otherwise stated.
A standard year of full-time study is equivalent to two
trimesters or 120 points.
The actual fee you will pay will depend on the number of points
in which you enrol and the Faculty from which you select
courses.
STUDENT LEVIES AND INSURANCE
All student levies and medical and travel insurance rates
quoted are for one academic year (120 points, or two
trimesters) of study, unless otherwise stated. The rates listed
are based on insurance cover for one student. Family insurance
policies are also available.
The quoted levies include the Student Services Levy and the
Student Assistance Levy.
For comprehensive and up-to-date details about insurance see
www.victoria.ac.nz/international/current-students/
insurance.aspx
Victoria offers a variety of Diploma, Master’s and PhD
programmes in almost all disciplines
A PhD requires a minimum of three years of study and research.
Tuition fees for PhD study and research are charged on a peryear basis. International PhD students are charged at domestic
fee rates. PhD application closing dates are 1 March, 1 July and
1 November. It is expected that PhD study begins within nine
months of the date of offer.
For the latest information on fees for doctoral study, refer to
the Postgraduate Thesis section at www.victoria.ac.nz/study/
student-finance/fees/domestic
INTAKE (START DATES)
Victoria’s academic year divides into three trimesters:
+ Trimester 1 – March to June
+ Trimester 2 – July to November
+ Trimester 3 – November to February
Trimesters 1 and 2 make up the regular academic year. Many
qualifications can begin in either Trimester 1 or 2.
