Sauquoit Valley Central Schools Sauquoit Valley High School 2601 Oneida Street Sauquoit, NY 13456 (315)839-6316 NYSSMA SOLO & ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL April 24 & 25, 2015 January 20, 2015 Dear Colleagues: The Sauquoit Valley Central School District will be hosting a NYSSMA Solo & Ensemble Festival for Level 1- IV soloists on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25, at the Sauquoit Valley High School. REGISTRATION Registrations for this festival must be done online at www.solochair.com, as I am using this software to register and schedule all soloists for this Festival. Please do not send a NYSSMA “Form A” to me in the mail, or as an attachment in an email. The web site will be OPEN for registrations on February 1, 2015. Registration will CLOSE on the deadline date of Friday, March 13, 2015. Once on the home page of this web site, you will need to set up a new teacher account (if you didn’t use the site for registration last year), or log in to your already established account, which will allow you to access this festival. Please register ALL of your students at the same time. This is very important – please wait until you have all of the information for all of your students, then register all students at the same time – if you register often, a few at a time, it is very difficult to keep all of your students’ performance times together in a block. This program will also allow you to print an INVOICE upon completion of your registration. That invoice must be sent to me with the appropriate fees. NYSSMA requires registration fees upon the date of registration, not “participation”. Therefore, your payment must reflect the total number of solos that you register, not just for those students who “participate” in the Festival. All scheduling will be on a First-Paid basis. Your invoice should be accompanied by a SINGLE check or Purchase Order to cover all student fees. Please do not send separate checks from individual students. Checks need to be made payable to NYSSMA. DO NOT send cash. ARTS IN EDUCATION funding - If you plan to use Arts in Education money, please send your information to BOCES WAY in advance of the registration deadline date, as it takes extra time to process that funding. NO “emergency” registrations or fee changes made after the deadline date will be accepted for Arts in Education funding. Fees: Solo & Ensemble Level 1-4 = $14 Level 5-6 = $21 All-State = $26 Piano Level 1-4 = $19, Level 5-6 = $26 DEADLINE: Your on-line registration and payment is due six (6) weeks prior to the festival. The deadline date is Friday, March 13, 2015. If you have not registered by this date, the SoloChair web site will lock you out of the registration process. CURRENT NYSSMA MANUAL IS IN EFFECT! Be sure to use the NYSSMA EDITION 30 (July 2012) for your music selections. Read the Manual carefully. Contact Hope Greco, our NYSSMA Zone Rep for any questions about music selections BEFORE your register. http://www.nyssma2.org/committees.cfm?subpage=1 ACCOMPANIED SOLOS Pianos will only be available in rooms requiring accompaniment (voice, one woodwind, one brass, one string room). There may be pianos available in other rooms as well. Please indicate your need for piano accompaniment on the SoloChair.com site WHEN YOU REGISTER. Directors must indicate clearly if students desire to use a piano accompaniment and the NAME of the accompanist ON YOUR REGISTRATION FORM (SoloChair). By scheduling students without accompanist names it is virtually impossible to avoid conflicts! Please do not put “TBA” for the accompanist’s name! It should be understood that all student(s) requesting assignment to a room with a piano are subject to piano availability. Please do not request assignment to a room with a piano if you do not intend to use it. Students using recorded accompaniments will be responsible for providing appropriate equipment for playing the recording. I am looking forward to hosting this festival and hope to hear from you soon. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. Sincerely, Stephanie Paine Festival Chairperson email: [email protected] school phone: (315) 839-6316 school fax: (315) 839-6397
