10.00. Park at Cradley Church at the far end of the car park, through the gate on the right of
Church Lane. EXP190/SO 735471 for a morning walk via Vinesend and Cother Wood.
Lovely views, varied terrain. 4.5 miles, moderate. BMMR. There may be an opportunity for
a carvery lunch at The Red Lion, Storridge, afterwards.

(Part of RNC) in Venn’s Lane, Hereford. EXP189/ SO 518412. It is fully inclusive to ALL,
including ramblers, Walking for Health participants, carers etc. 3 to 5 mile leisurely walks on
field-paths and lanes – may have a few stiles, some small inclines and some muddy
sections. . Optional refreshments at end of walk.

CANNOP PONDS AND DARKHILL IRONWORKS
10.00 (WRCP 09.20). Start from the main Forestry Commission Cannop Ponds picnic site
on the east side of the ponds, OL14/SO 609107. The signboard for the tarmac access to the
ponds is on the south side of the B4226 that heads towards Speech House and Cinderford
from its crossroads with the Lydbrook to Parkend road. A 7.5 mile moderate walk through
the Forest of Dean visiting the Darkhill Ironworks. BPL.

VOWCHURCH TO DORSTONE (BUS WALK)
10.00. Catch the 10.10 Hay Ho! 39A bus from Hereford Railway Station EXP189/SO515405
(also calls at Country Bus Station, Broad Street and all stops towards Hay). Alight near
Vowchurch. Walk to Dorstone along the Herefordshire Trail and other quiet paths and lanes.
Moderate with one short steep section. 6 miles. BPL. Return from Dorstone on the 15.04
bus, arrive back in Hereford at 15.56. Registered assistance dogs only.

08.30. Park at the New Cattle Market on the Roman Road north-west of Hereford City
(A4103) near Stretton Sugwas. EXP202/SO 475424. Have just a cuppa at home and come
straight to the Cattle Market. Meet by reception and then enjoy a hearty breakfast in the
café before setting off for a walk through fields and lanes to Tillington Common. Everyone is
expected to buy breakfast before the walk. 7 miles, moderate. BPL.

moderate 7.5 mile walk over rolling countryside with good views on a clear day going via
Hoarwithy and Ballis Wood. Occasional steep climbs and potentially some muddy ground.

nip up Hanter Hill and slide round Stanner Rocks, before we climb Herrock Hill and Rushock

10.00. Park next to Church at Eardisley. EXP201/SO 312492, or Bus 446 leaves Victoria
Court (site of old Eye Hospital on Eign Street near Sainsbury’s) at 09.25 arr. Eardisley 09.56.
Bus home not until 17.10 but Strand Café open! Walk along the Herefordshire Trail and
other paths, visiting Brilley Mountain and Upper Welson, enjoying the wonderful views.

PLEASE READ THESE IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
General: As a group member it is your responsibility to follow the leader’s instructions for the
benefit of the group as a whole. If you should leave the walk early, please notify the leader.
Please do not walk in front of the leader. Keep in single file on all roads. Accidents or
incidents that occur during the course of the walk, should be reported to the leader
immediately. Persons under 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Insurance: All sporting and leisure activities have inherent hazards associated with them
and rambling is no exception. In spite of the safety of members always being the paramount
concern, accidents will occasionally occur. It is important, therefore, that when entering into
the activity, each member appreciates that they have a responsibility to identify the hazards
associated with the activity and take all reasonable steps to eliminate or minimise the
potential for an accident to arise.
Guidance on grades:
Easy Access; Walks for everyone, including people with conventional wheelchairs and
pushchairs, using easy access paths. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn.
Assistance may be needed to push wheelchairs on some sections.
Easy: Walks for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty or a specific health problem
or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over occasional obstructions.
Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn.
Leisurely: Walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking experience.
May include un-surfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing
recommended.
Moderate: Walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness.
May include some steep paths and open country. Walking boots and warm, waterproof
clothing essential.
Strenuous: Walks for experienced country walkers with above average fitness level. May
include hills and rough country. Walking boots and warm, waterproof clothing essential.
Transport/Car Parking: Think green, try and car share. If you require a lift, contact the walk
leader who may be able to organise a lift for you. Don’t leave valuables in your car in full
view of thieves, and remember to lock your car. Protect against theft or vandalism.
The pick-up point for Ross Group – WRCP = Wilton Road Car Park.
The pick-up point for Leadon Vale Group – BSCP = Bridge Street Car Park.
Colwall Station is to become an alternative car pick-up or car-share point for Leadon Vale.
Exp 190 SO756425 Car Parking is free and it is served by a regular train service.
Notes:
For a full days walk bring a packed lunch = BPL - and plenty to drink.
For a half days walk bring a mid-morning refreshment = BMMR
Dogs: Can be taken on walks only with advance permission of the leader, but are generally
