The words “Secular and Socialist” are missing from the Information and Broadcasting (I&B) ministry’s advertisement regarding 66th Republic Day featuring the Indian constitution’s preamble which was changed in 1976 through the 42nd Amendment for two useful purposes. BJP defend itself by saying that these words were not a part of the original constitution drafted by Babasaheb Ambedkar’s and the Amendment was done in the second year of Indira Gandhi’s infamous internal emergency. Thus the preamble was modified purely for political purposes and now it has little meaning because these words reflect Congress’s undemocratic past. In a reply Minister of State for I&B, Rajyavardhan Rathore, said the “photo of the original preamble was a way of honouring the founding fathers of the constitution”. Congress leader Manish Tiwari said “stilfling and trampling” with the constitution is an “unforgivable sacrilege”. He said, “The Constitution of India, as it stands today, is very clear that India would be a ‘Sovereign Democratic Secular and Socialist Republic’. Mr. Rathore said, it means before 1976 we were not secular? This statement shows the real hidden agenda of BJP. Why no Muslim face has been included in the advertisement? Are PM and his entire cabinet supporting “Gharwapsi”? If not then why he has failed to take any action against it? This is not the case of only missing words from constitution but it is pertaining to the identity of Muslims who are the second largest religious community in India. Why the Muslim face is not a part of government advertisement on national festival? India is secular or Hindu Country? Of course it is secular, but this time both secular and Muslim is missing from the Republic Day advertisement released by the Modi Government. What they want to prove by this act? What kind of message is the government giving to its allied wings like VHP, RSS, SS, BD etc.? By omitting the word ‘Socialist’ this government is only indicating that “achche din” is not for the common man. This government is industrialist and billionaire friendly and it is sidelining the Muslims. In my opinion, the saffron party is indulging in this act with a proper planning to hoot such issue to deviate people’s attention from core issues. BJP’s allied wings are attempting to divide the people and polarize the votes of common man in favour of the party. However, this government is not Socialist so when will the common man be able to see the so called “achche din”? Exclusion of the words Secular and Socialist and Muslim Face in the government advertisement is a crime and case should be registered against the I&B Ministry and the government. They are playing with the integrity of the nation which is not a good sign for developing India. Aligarh Muslim University. It was a gross misuse of power and the Election Commission of India must look into the matter. All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Ajay Maken is conducting himself in a sober manner. He holds a union cabinet rank and also possesses experience and according to me people should support him. Last time Congress lost badly due to the arrogance of former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit who should have anticipated anti incumbency and kept herself away from contesting election. Congress has suffered several defeats recently therefore they will put their head down and work for improving their image. Residents of Delhi should take this opportunity to vote for a stable government in the state. They should not vote for Arvind Why Muslims have to prove their patriotism? Kejriwal? He cannot be fully trusted to shed dramatics and work sincerely. Citizens should also refrain from voting for BJP as it will lead to concentration of power in one hands, which doesn’t augur well for democracy. The BJP can do good work for Delhi without winning the assembly election as they are in power at the center. Prime Minister Narendra Modi told that he was touched when the kid drank the milk offered to him. This happens with everybody, everyday (offer them a Coke or Pepsi and they “guttak” instantly and then get scolded by mummy). Modi is trying to garner publicity to the core. He must realize that sitting in office for long hours itself does not constitute work, visibility of work on the ground is essential. You have blown your own trumphet during the last one year while campaigning for Lok Sabha election but now please concentrate on work. Anna Hazare is again on the path of fasting Vaidehi Taman Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Anna Hazare both came down on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal during the Delhi Assembly poll campaign. Modi promised to credit Rs. 15 lakh in everyone’s account. Instead of doing that, he wore a suit costing Rs10 lakh. During the UPA rule, the AAP leader raised issues of rape and corruption, and held protests, but now he was keeping quiet when rape cases in Delhi have increased by 30 per cent. Anna Hazare too slammed the Narendra Modi government for its “failure” to bring back black money stashed away abroad. As the rumblings of his forthcoming agitation is getting louder, Hazare’s anti-corruption movement has been out on a limb after his close aides, first Arvind Kejriwal and now Kiran Bedi, decided to take the plunge into politics. Inspite of Modi’s tall promises, people still have to pay bribes to get even the smallest of tasks done. Appointment of the Lokpal (ombudsman) in every district would have reduced corruption by at least 50 per cent in the country. Modi’s six-month tenure as Prime Minister and his failure to implement the Jan Lokpal Bill was quite disappointing. Hazare rebuffed suggestions that he had been “soft” on the BJP during his ‘India against Corruption’ campaign in 2011 which was directed against the Congress-led UPA government and had commanded a groundswell of popular support. He does not know whether popular strength will be more or less during his forthcoming agitation as compared with 2011. But he will agitate and protest against unhealthy ill indented government. Hazare reiterated that he would begin his campaign for a corruption-free India in Delhi soon after the polls in the capital. The agitation is expected to especially corner the BJP government over the Land Acquisition Law, whose amendments have purportedly made Hazare unhappy and which the Narendra Modi government has passed by means of an ordinance. 4 ubZ fnYyh] 2 Delhi/ NCR iQjojh] ls 8 iQjojh 2015 AAFT Attracts Students From Hundred Countries of The World Obama’s Visit Has Strengthen Our Relations With America- Sandeep Marwah NCR: Asia, Africa, Australia, North & D elhi/ South America and we have covered Europe also as far as enrolment of students are concerned. International Day of Commemoration In Memory of Victims of the Holocaust Observed at Marwah Studios Delhi/ NCR: Inspired by the theme “Liberty, Life and the Legacy of the Holocaust Survivors”, the 2015 observance of the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust coincides with the two milestone events: the 70th anniversary of the Second World War’s end and the founding of the United Nations” informed Sandeep Marwah Ambassador of International Human Rights Organization affiliated to United Nations in a humble function at Marwah Studios, Film City Noida. The Organization’s establishment seven decades ago in 1945 reflects how deeply it was shaped by the experience of the Holocaust. Both the Charter of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights enshrine the principles of human rights for all peoples around the world. This year’s events include the annual ceremony, exhibits, a film screening, discussions and a special exhibit that recognizes the work of the Holocaust and the United Nations Outreach Programme since its creation 10 years ago by the United Nations General Assembly. 8 day festival to screen 26 feature films and 15 Non- feature films New Delhi: Col Rajyavardhan Rathore, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting has said the upgarded projection and sound facilities at Siri Fort Auditorium had positioned the venue amongst the top 50 auditoriums within the country that screened films for public viewing. The renovated infrastructure reiterated the vision of the I&B Ministry to establish world class viewing facilities for screening films that incorporated technical brilliance in totality. The Siri Fort auditorium had set high standards which were normally found in the corporate domain. The digital projection and Dolby sound system would enable cinema lovers to enjoy a memorable viewing of movies. The Minister stated this while inaugurating the Indian Panaroma film festival and the renovated facilities at the Siri Fort auditorium complex. Speaking further, the Minister mentioned that the Films representing the Indian Panaroma section had a profound impact on the different International Film Festivals abroad. Modi is a master communicator but that’s not enough: Shashi Tharoor New Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who had irked his party with his praises for Narendra Modi, on Sunday said the Prime Minister has so far been “a master of communicator at work”, but not yet a “man of action”. “After all, the people who voted for Modi thought they were voting for a man of action. So far, instead of a man of action, the nation has got a man of words. And the real question that comes is when these words would get translat- ed into results,” the former diplomat-turned politician. Noting that communication has been a major strength of the NDA government, particularly Modi, he said, “The Prime Minister is very effective in speech-making, comes up with slogans, sound bites, photo ops in quite an unparalleled way. 5 ubZ fnYyh] 2 National iQjojh] ls 8 iQjojh 2015 ds t jhoky us fn;k fnYyh----- vke vkneh vkUnksyu ds lnL; The remark was made by Principal Deputy White House Press Secretary, Eric Schultz who was delivering his first White House press briefing on Wednesday when a journalist from the ABC channel raked up the issue of ISIS offer of prisoner swap for a captured Jordanian pilot. Making clear the US policy on ransoms, Schultz said that it was America’s longstanding policy that “we don’t pay ransom, that we don’t give concessions to terrorist organisations,” the Wall Street Journal quoted. However, Schultz refused to compare the ISIS prisoner swap offer with the Taliban prisoner swap for US Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, saying that they were two different situations. “The Taliban is an armed insurgency, ISIL is a terrorist group. We don’t make concessions to terrorist groups,” Schultz said. Asked again if the White House did not consider the Taliban as a terrorist organisation, he repeated that the Taliban “is an armed insurgency”. Later in a tweet, Schultz made it clear that according to the US State Department’s list of Foreign Terrorist Organisations, Pakistan Taliban has been designated as a terror organisation but not Afghanistan Taliban. Greek government to hold first talks with EU leaders Greece`s radical new government is to hold its first talks with a foreign dignitary on Thursday, hosting the head of the European parliament a day after announcing moves to roll back austerity measures. In sweeping announcements two days after taking power, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday began reversing many of the unpopular measures that underpin Greece`s 240-billion-euro ($269 billion) bailout programme. His “national salvation” government said it was putting on hold plans to sell a majority stake in the ports of Piraeus and Thessaloniki, and would also halt the privatisation of the top electricity and petroleum companies. The announcements sent the Athens stock market diving by more than 9.0 percent on Wednesday, with major banks tumbling by a quarter. European Parliament head Martin Schulz will visit Athens to hold talks with its new leaders, followed by Jeroen Dijsselbloem, the president of the Eurogroup club of eurozone finance minis- ters. Ahead of the dignitaries` visits, the president of the European Commission reiterated that cancelling Greece`s huge debt was not an option, urging Athens to “respect… the rest of Europe”. “Greece must comply with Europe,” Jean-Claude Juncker said in an interview with French newspaper Le Figaro published on Thursday, stressing that “there is no question of cancelling the debt”. “We respect the popular vote in Greece, but Greece must also respect others, public opinion and parliamentarians from the rest of Europe,” Juncker said. Sydney cafe hostage Katrina Dawson “killed by police bullet ricochet” One of the hostages held during a siege at an Australian cafe last month was killed by a ricochet of one police bullet that also injured three other hostages, an inquest into the deaths was told. Jeremy Gormly, counsel assisting the New South Wales state coroner, said lawyer Katrina Dawson, 38, was hit by six fragments of a police bullet, or bullets, with one striking a major blood vessel. “She lost consciousness quickly and died shortly afterwards,” Gormly said at the opening of the inquest. Police stormed the Lindt Chocolat Cafe in central Sydney in the early hours of Dec. 16, ending a 17-hour siege by Man Haron Monis after the gunman shot cafe manager Tori Johnson, 34. He was ordered to kneel and then shot without warning at close range in the back of the head was witnessed by a police marksman, Gormly said. Monis, 50, who fired five rounds from a sawn-off pump action shotgun, was killed instantly by several police bullets and bullet fragments to the head and body, Gormly added. The inquest is running alongside a government inquiry into how Monis was able to access a gun and why he was granted bail while facing charges as an accessory to the murder of his ex-wife. He was also facing more than 40 sexual assault charges. The self-styled sheik harboured deep grievances against the Australian government and had found little kinship in the city`s large Muslim community, where he was seen as deeply troubled. Gunmen storm luxury Libyan hotel America: In the latest sign of Libya’s descent into chaos, gunmen stormed a luxury hotel used by diplomats and businessmen in the capital Tuesday, killing 10 people, including an American, a French citizen and three people from Asia. Two attackers were killed following an hourslong standoff that included a car bomb that exploded in the parking lot of the seaside Corinthia Hotel. It was unclear if other gunmen were involved in the attack, which also killed five Libyan guards. Twitter posts and a statement on social media purported to say a Tripoli affiliate of the Islamic State group was behind the attack. However, there was little evidence outside of that to back up the claims in a country awash in armed extremist groups who would be equally suspect. The SITE Intelligence Group, a USbased militant monitoring group, reported that the two dead gunmen were identified online as sympathizers of the Islamic State group and said they targeted the hotel because it houses diplomatic missions and “crusader” security companies. 11 ubZ fnYyh] 2 Crime/Education iQjojh] ls 8 iQjojh 2015 CRISP India inked an MOU with Symbiosis University Pune cnp bureau Pune: CRISP Bhopal & Symbiosis University Pune has joined hands for offering Academic, Professional & Skill Development Programme & Consultancy. Supreme Court to hear Financial Technologies plea on February 6 MUMBAI: Technologies Financial (India) recently filed a special leave petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court after the Bombay High Court rejected the company's plea for a stay against a regulatory order declaring it not "fit and proper" to own shares in, or run a recognised commodity exchange. The hearing in the apex court is slated to come up on February 6. Confirming the development, an FTIL spokesperson said, "Yes. The special leave petition filed in the Supreme Court by FTIL challenging the 'fit and proper' order by the Forward Markets Commission (FMC) was listed for January 30, which got adjourned to February 6." Commodity futures market regulator FMC had declared FTIL unfit to run a recognised commodity exchange in December 2013, months after its subsidiary National Spot Exchange Ltd (NSEL) failed to meet payout obligations to over 13,000 investors, resulting in a Rs 5,600 crore scam. FTIL held 99.99% of NSEL and controlled and directed it, along with its key managerial persons, according to the government. Forget rate cut, watch out for views on rupee, food inflation, revised GDP The Reserve Bank of India's monetary and credit policy review tomorrow ought to be uneventful in terms of action but very important in terms of stance and guidance. After the quarter percentage point rate cut on 15 January, there is little reason to cut yet again. While cutting it policy rate to 7.75 percent, the RBI had said it would watch the future course of inflation and the quality of fiscal deficit as also supply enhancing steps. No new inflation data has come the RBI's way. Only the April-Dec fiscal data is out in the last 15 days and that hardly counts towards healthy fiscal consolidation. While it did show the government's intent to stick to the 4.1% fiscal deficit, it has also come from a cut in plan expenditure. Not quite high quality fiscal consolidation. Hence a rate cut, if any, can only be explained by inordinate political pressure. The market and the business community will hence focus more on the RBI's stance in the statement and in the governor's press conference. I see three major areas of interest: For one, the market would want to know the RBI's inflation trajectory. ReutersReuters The December 3 fan chart indicated the RBI saw inflation at 6 percent by March 2015. In the Jan 2015 statement, the RBI admitted inflation is likely to be below 6 percent by January 2016. So its trajectory for March 2015 and for Jan 2016 will be important forecasts as it will give an idea of how much the RBI may cut rates in coming policies. The film should have been called ‘Hawe me zyada’, because it takes a ton of creative liberties to dole out a completely fictional story using a real person. That is still p e r missib l e , because historical movies seldom follow facts in a bid to make the story more entertaining. What isn’t acceptable is that Hawaizaada is the most excruciatingly boring movie we’ve seen in recent times. Directed by Vibhu Puri and star- ring Ayushmann Khurrana as Talpade, Hawaizaada is well intentioned – it’s a simple crowd-pleasing love story, set against the backdrop of colonial India. Boy meets girl, girl loves and leaves guy, guy invents the airplane. No foreseeable harm, except for one thing: the film’s treatment. Here’s a sample: There are British officers yelling “Bloody Indians!” every few minutes. A clerk, who wants to help build the plane, musters up all his dramatic range and bellows, “Ye Britishers hamare pair baandh ke rakhenge, humein rokenge nahi udne se.” Khurana’s Talpade madly bellows, “Mi khooni ahe!” (I’m a killer) over and over again in a bout of guilt.
