Ontario College Highly Competitive Programs
Many college programs have more people applying to
them than there are spots available. These programs
are referred to as highly competitive, and often have
very specific admission requirements. The following
charts list the highly competitive programs at each
of Ontario’s colleges as well as their respective
admission requirements.
Deadline for Applying to Highly
Competitive Programs
If you’re interested in a highly competitive program,
make sure you apply before February 1- the Equal
Consideration Date - for your chance to get a spot.
Colleges will review each and every application
submitted before this date when making admissions
decisions. If you apply after February 1, your
application may not be considered, as programs
may be full.
For more information on highly competitive
programs, visit ontariocolleges.ca/competitive, or
use the link at the top of each page to visit individual
college websites. Links to all Ontario college websites
can also be found at ontariocolleges.ca/colleges.
Information in this document is provided by individual colleges, and

* Grade Differential: 10 additional marks for Advanced, OAC, U, U/C pre-requisite subjects.
** For other required documentation, contact the College.
1
Academic Strength Calculation: Academic strength is calculated by averaging the submitted senior-level high school marks of Required Subjects,
test results and relevant post-secondary marks or equivalent. If more than one grade is received for Required Subjects, the highest grade will
be used in the calculation. Applicants with the highest academic strength are considered for admission or further applicant assessment. The
minimum academic strength varies from year to year and is dependent on the number of applications received, the academic strength of the
applicants and the program capacity. During the selection process, Grade 12 marks may be reviewed on an individual basis and applicants with
low marks in the required Grade 12 subjects may not be considered.
If mid-term marks from relevant subjects are available at the time admission decisions are made, they will be used in the calculation of the
academic strength. Where the minimum subject requirement is Grade 12, Grade 11 marks in Required Subjects may be used in the calculation of
academic strength for those applicants currently enrolled in the Required Subjects. In such cases, any offers of admission would be conditional
upon the successful completion of the required Grade 12 course and the final grade in that course.
Many highly competitive programs are full after the first round of admission decisions are made. This means that admission decisions are based
on the marks available in early February. This may be a combination of final grades in required courses, mid-term grades in required courses,
or marks from relevant grade 11 courses. If the program is full prior to the college receiving second semester mid-term grades, we will NOT recalculate the academic strength based on the second semester grades. However, we will use available second semester grades to determine the
position on the wait list of applicants who have received a wait list offer.
NOTE: Applications received for the above programs after the February 1, 2015 (Equal Consideration Date) are normally not considered. Minimum
Grades provided above were used for Fall 2014 admissions and may vary from year to year.

NOTE 1: The cut off GPA for highly competitive programs is generally much higher than the Minimum Grades noted and this cut off grade changes
from year to year depending on the pool of applicants received. As a result of the competitiveness of the above programs, the college may use
Grade 11 grades and/or first semester grades to make their offers of admission.
NOTE 2: Applicants graduating from our Pre-Health Sciences program will require a 3.0 GPA to enter the BScN program.
