It is composed of sixty-six shorter documents, also called books, written from the time of Moses (around 1300 B.C.) through the first generation after Jesus (around 100 A.D.). It is considered to be the word of God, along with Jesus Christ (the Word made flesh), and any words that God speaks. The Bible is an important part of our history as Christians. The accounts, songs, proverbs, letters, commands, prophecies and parables it contains are the family stories and records of our faith tradition. They tell us what God has done in the past. They convey our values as people of God. They assure us of God's care for us and for all creation. They help us understand how God has related to people in the past so that we can understand our relationship with God today. They tell us who we are and who God made us to be. Daily Bible reading is a beneficial practice for any Christian, but sometimes it is hard to sustain. Now there is a resource to help. Holy Trinity Church in Brompton, England (the people that brought you The Alpha Course), has a daily email that takes people through the Bible in the course of a year. Each day has three Bible passages, which you can read by clicking the link or looking them up in your own Bible. Along with these passages is engaging commentary by Nicky Gumbel and a closing thought by Pippa Gumbel. If you would like to try it, it is free. You can subscribe at www.bibleinoneyear.org, or find it through the link on our homepage at www.trinitylm.com. May God bless you and water your soul as you consider God's word! Blessings, Pastor Mark Page 2 Trinity Tidings Ash Wednesday & Holy Week Schedule This year, Ash Wednesday is March 5, 2014. We will be holding service that night at 6:15 pm. What’s Involved? Seven evenings of romantic dinners accompanied by seven sessions designed to offer practical tools to strengthen your marriage and draw you closer as a couple. Do couples with great marriages get there by luck? We don’t think so. We believe anyone can have a loving, healthy marriage. You just need certain tools. For over 20 years, THE MARRIAGE Course has been helping build strong marriages. You can deepen your relationship. You can move from dull to dynamic. Others have done it. You can do it, too. Feedback from our last Marriage Course: What was your favorite part of the Marriage Course? Time away as a couple with a chance to talk with each other. Love in action! Getting to sit down with my wife to a quiet dinner without kids. Having child care available. Wine and margaritas and awesome food and service.
