The Conference Workgroup has aimed for the stars and carefully planned a conference weekend with topics for couples, breastfeeding helpers, professionals, and most importantly, mothers. Breastfeeding Under the Stars offers exciting new features while improving on all the usual star-studded conference elements. Your conference experience begins Friday afternoon with either a Communication Skills Workshop or a presentation about breastfeeding and infant mental health featuring national speaker Jill Wodnick. Then enjoy TGIF Dinner on Friday evening, followed by an interactive session with Linda Smith, co-writer of the newest book from LLLI, Sweet Sleep. Saturday is packed with sessions that will inspire you to follow your guiding star, increase your breastfeeding knowledge, and give you the tools to make your parenting skills shine. Wind down Saturday evening with a delicious buffet and Linda Smith’s talk about safe sleep, followed by a special astronomy presentation. Round out your weekend with an invigorating exercise session on Sunday morning, hearty breakfast, and a dip in the pool before checking out of the hotel. Leaders and Leader Applicants, just for you there will be a special time Sunday morning to socialize, expand your skills, and become a more radiant Leader. I’m looking forward to seeing you at this very special weekend in Somerset, New Jersey. Bring your family or room with friends! Warmly, Annmarie Fewkes Event Coordinator Continuing Education Topics An application for Continuing Education Recognition Points has been submitted to the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners; topics applied for are designated “CERP.” Continuing Education Units for LLL Leaders and Leader Applicants will be available from LLL Garden State. CEUs allow Leaders to document their breastfeeding and Leader education. Qualifying topics are designated “CEU.” Family-friendly LLL conferences provide a unique opportunity for professionals to interact with breastfeeding families. The highly technical nature of CERP topics requires both participant and speaker concentration. While quiet children are welcome, we ask mothers to promptly address any situation that may be distracting to others in the session. Professionals should be aware that the CERP experience here may differ significantly from purely professional conferences. La Leche League is not necessarily in agreement with nor responsible for the statements made by speakers at this conference. Unforeseen circumstances may require the replacement of a speaker or the cancellation of a topic. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause. 3 Friday, April 17 Beat the traffic!
