It will be shaped with jewelry making tools. The scroll design will be flattened and stabilized by using a chasing hammer and bench block. Beads will be wired to the middle to make an elegant focal piece for the necklace. It will be finished off with chain. This marks the beginning of true locomotion skills. Students are able to move around independently in shallow water. Alternating arms and legs on their back and front to lay the foundation for future strokes. Flip turns on front and back are introduced. Saturdays: 11:45-12:30 p.m. Fee: R $55 NR $70 Adaptive Aquatics This class utilizes volunteers to work with students with special needs to master basic aquatic skills while having fun with peers. Saturdays: 12:35-1:20 p.m. Fee: R $55 NR $70 Level 1: Polliwog: Students in Level 1 are oriented to the aquatic environment. With the instructors support students are taught the following elementary aquatic skills: floating, basic swimming on front/back, submerging under water for the first time. Saturdays: 11:10-11:40 a.m. Fee: R $55 NR $70 10 pool Level 3: Minnow The objective of level 3 is to build on the skills in level 2 by providing guided practice in coordinating front and back crawl. Students should feel comfortable in the deep water. Introduction to treading water and kneeling dives are in the deep water. To move to level 4, students must swim 25 yards front and back crawl, plus additional skills. Saturdays: 10:15-11:00 a.m. Fee: R $55 NR $70 Level 4: Sunfish Students increase their endurance by swimming familiar strokes (front crawl, elementary back and back crawl) for greater distances. The breaststroke and sidestroke are introduced along with the basics of turning at the pool wall. Level 6 is designed with “menu” options. Each of these options focus on preparing students to participate in more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor and Lifeguard Training. These include: Personal Water Safety, Lifeguard Readiness, Fundamentals of Diving and Fitness Swimmer. These classes do not require drawing skills, and they are also NOT paint-by-number.
