My name is
Mork and I’m not from Ork; I actually came
from the shelter in Pender County. I’m a
Hound and Labrador Retriever mix and
extremely smart. I’m in training at the New
Hanover Correctional Center and will graduate
early March. You can talk to the great folks
with Pawsitive Partners Prison Program at
910-259-7911 or [email protected]. Or,
better yet, stop in at the Pet Expo and they will
ALL tell you what a great pet and party animal I
am. No dogs allowed or I’d meet you there, but
I will be at Unleashed the following weekend.

Hi, my name is
Fudge and I
am a very
affectionate
Siamese girl
with beautiful
blue eyes.
My human
mommy went
to heaven and
a neighbor
lady found me
starving. She
started feeding
me and getting
me healthy
again. I am
spayed and
I’ve had my
rabies vaccination. I currently live in an outdoor cage, but
I'm an older girl and would really love to be a house kitty. I
deserve nothing less! I promise to keep your lap warm if
you will just give me a home. Worried about your furniture?
Well, I don't mind having my nails trimmed. I mean really,
what girl doesn’t love a manicure? If you’re smart and
would like to meet me, grab that smart phone of yours and
call Shay at 910-512-0652. You won't regret it!

My name is Dutch and I’m
a mature Boston Terrier
boy. My foster mom calls
me a “giant marshmallow”.
At 47 pounds, it’s a wonderful description for a boy
who is bigger than your
average Boston. I’m a very
happy-go-lucky yet laidback and quiet guy who
likes everyone. I’m housetrained, leash-trained and
crate-trained and I enjoy
playing a game of tug-owar followed by belly rubs.
I like going on car rides and
I know how to sit and lay
down on command. If you
would like a big, snuggly teddy bear to be your new best
friend, please fill out an adoption application. I will eagerly
be watching the inbox for yours to come through. For
more info, contact Coastal Carolina Boston Terrier Rescue
at [email protected] or call 252-633-0987. Visit us online
at www.ccbtr.org to find our adoption application.
I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of

We are
two very
charming
brothers
named
Mikey and
Peanut!
We get
along
great, as
you can
see from
our photo,
but we do
not have
Mikey
Peanut
to be
adopted
together. However, you might just decide ‘two’ is a magic
number when you see how we complement each other we’re so entertaining and so very sweet! We are young fellows who love playing with toys and cuddling with humans,
and we also get along with the other cats here. We are neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and in great health. We
do have a food allergy, but simply feed us Duck and Green
Pea cat food and the issue’s solved! Our former foster mom
wishes she could adopt us, but she can’t, so she is sponsoring the adoption fee for each of us. That should tell you how
much love we inspired in her while we were staying at her
place. So please, let’s meet! You’ll wonder how you ever got
along without us. For adoption information, call Pender
Humane Society at 910-259-7022.

Howdy, my
name is Rocky
and I’m a very
sweet 7-yearold Hound mix.
I have already
been neutered,
I weigh 35
pounds and I’m
house-trained.
I’m energetic
and playful, I’m
a good snuggler, and I’m
great with kids.
I would be a
great fit for an
active individual
or family who
loves running or walking. I need a fenced yard to play in,
sticks to catch and possibly a playful brother or sister. I
know basic commands and am not destructive around
the house. I am full of love and ready to meet you. I’m
looking for a new home because the other dogs that I live
with do not want me here. I am current on vaccinations
and tested negative for heartworms (and of course, I’m
taking monthly prevention to keep me that way). I’m
good on a leash, I love belly rubs and I have a cute habit
of sleeping under the covers. I’m really sweet and my
family wants to find me a home with furry brothers and/or
sisters who want to be my friend and play (but I could
also be happy being your one and only pet). Please call
828-206-9150 so that you can find out more about me
and how we can be together forever.

Tornado Survivors/Purring Lap Kittens Need Home Together!
We are Checkers and Ziggy, two loving girls looking for a family. (In the picture at
left, Ziggy is stretched out in the foreground while Checkers is in the back.) Our story
begins in Mississippi when a series of tornados hit our hometown. Buildings were
destroyed, people died, and we never saw our mom again. We were just 3-weeksold when we were taken into a shelter, then into a loving foster home. We thrived
there and now we are here in Oak Island in another foster home waiting for our forever family to come along. We are both very sweet kittens - laid-back, affectionate,
and playful. We are used to living with other cats, a big dog, teenagers and adults.
We enjoy sleeping with our folks and purring in their laps - Checkers especially loves
sleeping with humans at night. We get along great together, napping and playing
with each other. We know how
Napping... to use a kitty door and we like to
look out at the world from the
Playing...
screened-in porch. Unfortunately, after we were spayed and vaccinated, we tested positive for Feline Leukemia. We feel great now, and
this virus may not cause us to be ill for many, many years...or ever!
Some kittens do get rid of the virus entirely. We are looking for a home
where we can live
together, inside
Sunbathing...
only. (The virus
can be transmitted
to other kittens,
while adult cats
with vaccinations are at a very low risk of infection.) Could you find it
in your heart to give two tornado-survivors a loving home?
We promise we’ll give you lots of love and smiles in return!
Our foster mom would be happy to tell you all about us.
Please call her at 910-278-4437 and let’s meet one day soon!
We are sponsored by Blue Heaven in Key West. Thanks!

SOUTHERN REPTILE
SAVIORS RESCUE
My name is Little One and I’m
a green iguana. I’m not really
sure how old I am but I think I’m
around 2-years-old. This is the
third home I’ve been to already
so I don't immediately trust people, but with some patient handling and lots of love, I promise
to be a good pet. I like to climb and sit under my lights,
and I’m going to get really big one day. I have been
checked out by the vet and I’m in good health. Please call
Nicole at 910-470-6299 to learn more about me and all my
other iguana friends who are up for adoption. Please
check us out on Facebook or you can go to the iguana
blog to see all of us at www.thepamperediguana.com.
ALL 4 CATS
Hi, I'm Gemma.
I’m a sweet, loving
young lady who is
ready to settle down
in a forever home,
but I really want a
place where I can
be the only cat. I
enjoy (or at least
tolerate) dogs, but I
am really all the cat any human should ever need. I am
playful, adventurous, and loving - really, I have it all. I have
been spayed, I’m up to date on my vaccinations and I'm
microchipped. Please call 919-710-3872 to set an
appointment to visit with me or you could check out
www.facebook.com/all4catsrescue for upcoming
events where we can meet.
4 PAW LIFESAVER RESCUE
Hi, my name is Kingston. I
am a 2-year-old boy. When I
was just a puppy, I was left in
a field. Luckily, some nice
people saved me. I have
been in a great foster home
but really want to find a home
of my own. I LOVE other
dogs and want one to be part
of my new family. I can be a
little shy at first but once I get
to know you, I am your best
friend. I am house and cratetrained, do well in the car, and know basic commands. I
am neutered, vaccinated and on flea / heartworm prevention. I’ve been waiting for a home for almost 2-years and I
just know that the perfect home is out there somewhere. If
you think I may be the right dog for you, contact my rescue
at 252-531-0744 or email [email protected].

OPERATION TOPCAT
I’m Miss Ebony and I’m a
1½-year-old girl. I’m very
sweet and I’m looking for a
quiet, forever home. I probably wouldn’t be comfortable
around hyper dogs or small
children. I was recently
adopted but that home was a
hectic household and it
wasn’t a right match for me.
Easy-going, that’s how I like
it. I will need to be given
some time to adjust to my
new surroundings; however, with plenty of love and attention, I will be a nice companion kitty. If you would like to
adopt me, call 910-200-0612 or email [email protected].

many months and am finally back
with P.E.A.R. I went through many

thousands! Any donation, no matter how big or small, would really
help. It is tax-deductible and can

ONSLOW COUNTY
ANIMAL SERVICES
My name is Casey
(A079361) and I’ve
been homeless since
October! I have a lot of
things going for me: I’m
well-trained, loving,
good-mannered, obedient, gentle, kind, and
vaccinated. And I’m
one handsome dog, too. They tell me I’m what’s known as
a ‘Mutt-a-gree’ - a pedigree that’s a tad mixed up! But let
me tell you, with my loveable manner and intelligence, who
will know the difference? Does “paperwork” make a dog
smarter? I don’t think so! It’s what’s inside that counts!
So come on by the shelter - I’ll be waiting to meet you and
light up your life with my gorgeous self! The shelter is
located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville. If you
would like to adopt me, please call 910-455-0182.

Girls Just Want to Have
Fun and I am no exception. My name is Polly
and I’m looking for a good
time. Let’s see, I am into
sports = I like to chase golf
balls. I like to keep busy =
I like to chew things,
pounce on the unsuspecting, and hide your shoes
and socks. I like cats = we can be friends if they don’t beat
me up. I hang with my pack = I love to wrestle and nip and
annoy the older dogs in my house. I love to snuggle = I
want to get right up next to you on the couch while watching TV and then curl up next to you when you’re sleeping.

RESCUE LEAGUE
My name is Buttercup
and I'm 7-years-old. I’m
vaccinated, spayed,
heartworm-free, cratetrained and completely
house-trained. I'm in a
foster home with a baby
puppy and I love to cuddle and pretend to be his
mommy. My wish is for
someone to adopt me and give me a furever home. Just
because I'm an older dog, doesn’t mean that I don't
deserve a family. I love going on walks, riding in the car,
cuddling, visiting the beach, playing with squeaky toys and
hanging out in the house. If you would like to meet me,
please call or text Pat at 910-207-2071.
PET FRIENDS OF DUPLIN COUNTY
I'm Gray, a 15-year-old,
declawed girl and this is
my 10-year-old sister,
Cheeky (pictured below
me). We were the much
loved pets of a couple
who passed away within
one years time. We're
now looking for homes
and we can be adopted
together or separately.
We are heartbroken over
losing our parents and
are eager to start loving
on our new families.
We're affectionate, quiet
girls who are both spayed
and up to date on vaccinations. The vet has
given us thorough examinations and we’re very
healthy with no medical
conditions. We have a lot
of wonderful years ahead
of us. If you would like to
adopt one or both of us,

do well with
good dogs

but haven’t met a cat yet. They call me a true ambassador of my breed. I am house-trained, spayed, heartworm negative, low maintenance and calm, but I am a
strong dog. I will require a home visit, an application
and someone who has fallen in love with me. If you
would like to know more about me or would like to inquire about the adoption process, please give Adopt-AnANGEL a call at 910-392-0557.

who is 46

Sadly, I find
myself homeless again. I
was adopted
but returned
because
the family
decided it
was not the

am super
sweet and a
very good boy. I absolutely love children and other dogs
and have learned cuddling with a human is the best thing
in the world! I am house-trained, neutered, vaccinated,
obedient and walk well on a leash. Wow, I sound pretty
great and once you meet me, you will most definitely
agree. Please call Furever Friends Animal Rescue at
910-383-0287 or 910-383-2100 for more information on
me and how you can adopt the new love of your life.

dogs. I do need a patient, stable, quiet family
because of my rough

in and out. I like to carry tennis balls and hoard toys! I am
house-trained, fixed, vaccinated and heartworm negative.

for sure. I am really smart and
obedient, too. I already know
some basic obedience and I
live to please you. I enjoy
working with people. I am
house-trained, heartworm

to move in. I could be a Belgian Malinois mix or a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix - both
breeds not meant for the first
time dog parent. We are often smarter than our owners, so
experience will be helpful. I am an active dog and I like to
run. I would benefit if I were adopted by an active family.
►My name is Ellie and I
love going on walks. I
am a lot more adventurous with another dog
around, so I must go to a
home with another dog.
I have not soiled my
foster home, not even
once. I haven’t had one
reason to be crated. I
sleep in bed with my
foster mom every night.
I am very affectionate
and sweet. If you come
to adoption fairs, you will
find me trembling in my
crate, but that’s not the real me. Loud noises scare me so a
quiet, kid-free home would be ideal. I just need a little time
to trust and then I really come out of my shell. I am a smaller
Walker Hound who weighs about 35 pounds. I don’t have a
mean bone in my body and if you adopt me, you will get to
watch me blossom into something amazing.

Hi, my name is
Maggie! I am a
5-year-old Black
Lab/Mastiff mix. If
I could describe my
personality, I’d say
I have the calm personality of a Mastiff
and the loyal nature
of a Black Lab. I am
great with other
dogs, cats and kids.
I am spayed and
completely up to
date with vaccinations. I would love
a new home with
another doggie to
hang out with and a
new family to give
me some much appreciated cuddles. I really love to
please and will be a great addition to your family. I
promise I will be no trouble! Please call my friend Leanne
at 910-538-0106 to find out more about me and to set up a
time for us to meet. You won’t regret it! P.S. If you’re not
interested in adopting, please consider providing me a
foster home starting the middle of February. Thank you!

CAT: Cat Adoption Team
Please call 910-792-9014 to adopt us!
◄Hi, I'm Leela! I'm a
10-month-old Tabby who
is sweet and playful. I get
along well with the other
cats here and have had a
lot of fun playing with everyone, but I really want a
place that I can call home.
Please come to Petsmart
to meet me and show me
some love. Also, I'm attached to my buddy and
roommate, Matt (pictured
next to me), so it would
make me very happy if you
could adopt us together!
►I'm a curious
and sweet girl
named Caylie.
I love to play
with feather
toys and walk
around with
you. I can be
pretty shy at
first, but once I
know you, I'll
be your best
buddy! I'm a
very loving kitty
and I’m looking
for a forever home where I can settle down for good.
I've been here a while, so won't you please, please give
me a chance? I'm also spayed, vaccinated, and
litterbox-trained. Come meet me soon!
◄Are you
looking for two
sweet, brown
Tabby kittens?
If so, you ought to
come meet me
and my brother,
Neon, who looks
identical to me.
I'm Xenon, by
the way. We're
6-months-old,
neutered and
vaccinated.
We're really
sweet boys who
love to be petted,
but we're still a
little shy. Just be patient and give us some love, and we'll
come around. I sure do hope you can adopt us together!
Wilmington, NC
We’re at Petsmart 7 days a week.
◄Hey there! I'm
one cute kitty, aren't
I?! Everyone calls
me Matt. I'm a 10month-old black and
white boy. I'm really
sweet and love to be
petted, but I also like
to have fun by playing with toys. One of
my favorite things is
to play fetch! If
you're looking for a sweet yet playful cat, I'm your guy.
And if you can, please adopt me with my awesome
friend, Leela! That’s her pictured beside me.
◄Why, hello there! My
name is Maddie. I'm a
3½-year-old white and
brown Tabby. I'm extremely
sweet and would love snuggling with you on the couch.
I also love playing and lying
in the sunshine. I'm a little
shy at first, but I'll warm up
to you in no time! By the
way, I'm a little sensitive to
certain foods, so I'll need
you to pay a little extra attention to my diet. Just ask the
friendly people here, and I'm
sure they'll be glad to help. I hope to meet you soon!

FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!!
Call 910-792-9014 for more information.
◄Hi, I'm Maggie! I'm a
sweet and playful girl. I've
lived with cats and dogs
and have been around
children, but I'd do best in
a home with older children
and no other pets. I've
adjusted quite well to staying with fosters and appreciate my temporary home
at Petsmart, but I think it's
about time that I get my
forever home where I can
receive all the love and
attention I deserve!

Hi, my name is
Cello and I'm one
of the dogs in the
“musical instrument” group who
is being trained at
Pender Correctional with Monty's
Home. I'm only
8-months-old and
probably a mix of
Anatolian Shepherd. I will get
quite big so I’ll
need lots of space
in my new home.
I'm learning very
quickly how to
walk on a leash
and sit politely
when people come to pet me. If you want a big, handsome boy like me to make your home complete, just call
our band leader Monica at 910-297-1338, email

Hi, I'm
Ruby and
these
are my
siblings!
We were
abandoned on
Christmas
Eve on the
doorstep
of Porters
Neck Veterinary
Hospital.
There are
four of us two girl
and two
boys - and we’re estimated to be around 8-months-old. We
are all spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated and litterboxtrained. We are loveable, purry, playful kitties who enjoy
receiving attention from humans. One of us has already
been adopted and his new mom says she is already in love!
Please contact 910-686-6297 if you want to meet any of us!

◄No, I’m not a fish, just a
fishy name, Spot. Someone figured because I
have a gray spot on my
head, they should call me
Spot. How silly, I am a
beautiful pastel Calico
with everything going for
me and they call me
Spot? Please save me
from this humiliation! I
am a 1-year-old, sweet,
playful, kitty who gets
along with all the other
cats and I’m fixed and
vaccinated. Please take me home and change my name.
►I prefer to
pronounce it Ponce,
like the great explorer,
not Pounce. I am
always open for some
adventure. I am
mostly white with a
black stripe on my
head. Makes me
looks like I have a
Mohawk! Cool, huh?
I get along with all the
other cats, and with this cool looking Mohawk, how can I be
anything but laid-back? I am only 5-years-old so there is
plenty of exploring still left in me.
▲J2. That’s correct, double trouble, or whatever you want
to call us. We prefer J2. We are Joelle and Jenny,
5-month-old sisters, mostly white with Calico markings.
We are a little timid at first but believe us both, we’re well
worth it if you give us a chance. We will worm our way
into your heart. We don’t have to be adopted together,
but we’re just too (or two) cute for words as a set.
►Would you like to
play Dominos with
me? I would love to
play with you! As you
might guess, I am a
black and white,
6-month-old male. I
am very friendly and
guess what? I love to
ride on a shoulder, so
you can impress your
friends or maybe just
have me sit and watch
while you’re on the
computer or gaming.
How about this: a cat
and owner who game
together stay together!
►They named me
after this super nice
lady who rescued
me. Her name
was Norma, so I
became Norman.
It’s a great name
for a cat; I love it.
Just like I love attention and lots of
it. At first I was a
little nervous, but
now I have figured
out this gig and
‘man’ is it great to
be a cat! Did you
notice how I used part of my name in my description? I
must be really smart, too and only 9-months-old.
◄Boo, hope I
didn’t scare
you! I am the
friendliest male
kitty who just
loves to play
with everyone.
I run the other
cats in my room
crazy, so no
one should be
afraid, except
fear that you’ll
be exhausted.
I am a 1-yearold, black male
with the most
beautiful
orange eyes. You’ll be mesmerized when you look at me!

been
compared to
the Flying
Nun! So
I had to
go look
her up and you know, I do sort of see a resemblance. Anyway, as you can tell from my photo, I’m a beautiful girl and
a very friendly dog. I love kids, people and some of my
best friends are canines – like Dixie and Valentine, who live
at the shelter with me. If you have another dog, I’d love to
meet him or her at the shelter. I’m almost 3-years-old and I
would have thought that my perfect family would have arrived by now. I hope that happens before my next birthday. So don’t forget, ask for the dog who reminds you of
the Flying Nun! Paw’s Place is open every day from 9am

URGENT, URGENT!
My Time Is Running
Out!
Look at this gorgeous,
smiling face! How can
someone as handsome
and sweet as me be
running out of time?
My name is Klondike
(A015319) and I’m a
2-year-old Siberian
Husky mix boy who
would love to be someone’s new family member. If you ask the shelter workers about me,
they’ll tell you I’m the
kind of dog who wants to crawl into your lap even though I
might be a tad bit oversized. I love blankets and Iove being with people. It’s suspected that I may be house-trained
or crate-trained as I really try to wait until I’m outside before answering nature’s call. I’m such a beautiful boy and
it’s a shame that I’m sitting in a kennel day after day.
Won’t you come meet me and see if we’re a match? My
adoption fee includes Distemper/Parvo vaccine, Kennel
Cough vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, deworming, and 30 day
flea/tick treatment. The shelter is now open on Sundays,
from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week.
It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. For more
information, please call Pender County Animal Shelter at

My Time Is Running Out!
Everyone tells me how sweet,
loveable and well-trained I am
- so how can I be running out
of time? My name is Cookie
(A015354) and I was found
wandering lost and alone on
I-40. I must have once been
someone’s beloved companion
as I’m very well socialized and
obedient to commands. I’m
already spayed and most likely
house-trained as I do not like
to use the bathroom in my kennel. My personality is supersweet and affectionate - I love
everyone I meet. As for my size, I’m a perfect 32 pounds not too big and not too small. They say I’m a Border Collie
mix, about 5 to 6-years-old. I’m the kind of dog people
wish for, so please hurry over - dogs arrive at the shelter
every day and there is just not room enough for us all! My
adoption fee includes Distemper/Parvo vaccine, Kennel
Cough vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, deworming, and 30 day
flea/tick treatment. The shelter is now open on Sundays,
from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week.
It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. For info,

disposition had nothing to do

►On Christmas Eve,
someone found me wandering around the golf
course near the Echo
Farms clubhouse. My
name is Gabby
(A316751) and I’m looking
for a forever family. I’m a
fabulous conversationalist
and good listener, I love to
be rubbed, I’m very purry
and I’ll be friends with
anyone. At just 9-monthsold, I have developed a
legitimate affinity for cat
toys - especially peacock
feathers! I’ve already
been spayed and I’m current on vaccinations. Some folks
say that Tabby cat personalities are distinct from other felines in the sense that they are more like the personality of
dogs. That could explain why I love everyone. We’re also
known to love playing and exploring...yep, that’s me!
◄Talk about the softest
fur you’ve ever touched.
My fur is almost like rabbit hair and you just can’t
stop petting and rubbing
me - which is just fine
with me! I’ll just purr
away while you do so.
My name is Penny Lane
(A317513) and I’m a petite, 2-year-old, longhaired girl who was found
as a stray. I’m already
spayed and vaccinated
so I can go home with
you today!
► I’m a sweetheart with a
broken heart. My name is
Sugar (A317545) and even
though I’m just a baby, I’ve lived
a life without compassion. An
Animal Control Officer saw that
my brother and I weren’t being
cared for so she brought us
here to the shelter. My brother
has already been adopted and
I’m all by myself now. I hope
that you will adopt me and give
me lots of snuggles and TLC
and that you’ll help me forget all about what it was like to
live without love. If you have another dog or two in your
home, that would be wonderful for me. Seeing them feel
happy and safe will help me see the joy in life.

OPEN SATURDAYS!
◄My name is Midnight
(A317648) and I’m an
11-month-old Black Labrador Retriever. I know how
to sit on command, I’ve
been neutered and I’m
current on vaccinations.
I’m a playful, loving and
happy guy who just wants
a family to adore. Please
open your heart to a black
dog. Black dogs and cats
(like Fatty Boom Boom
pictured below) are the
most overlooked pets in
shelters.
►I’m a TV Star! Really,
I’ve already been seen on
lots of televisions across
our area when I was a
guest on WWAY’s Pet Pals.
My name is Fatty Boom
Boom (A317478) and I was
very much loved by my
family. Unfortunately, our
8-month-old family member
developed asthma and the
doctors recommended that
I move out. So, here I am
waiting for you to scoop me
up. I’m 4-years-old,
declawed, litter-trained,
good with kids and male
dogs and I have great
house manners. I’m an indoor only, treat loving,
affectionate guy who craves neck scratches, head rubs and
cuddling. I’ll even nuzzle right into your hand.
◄There are very few pooches
as adoring as me. My name is
Freddie (A317630) and I am
full of love. Not the crazy,
cuckoo kind of love - I’m pure,
genuine, unconditional love.
I’m a 5-year-old Beagle and
Dachshund mix who has short
legs and weighs about 18
pounds. I have a little bitty
nubbin’ tail that wags like mad.
It wiggles with breakneck
speed. I’m good on a leash, I
know how to sit on command,
I love attention and I’m ready
to be your new best bud. I will sit next to you and lean in for
a snuggle or better yet, invite me into your lap! A friendly,
happy guy like me shouldn’t be without a family.

Just take a look at me! Aren’t I the most gorgeous feline
you’ve ever seen! My name is Callie (A078170) and not
only am I gorgeous, but I come with great feline qualities.
I’m litterbox-trained, I am current on vaccinations and I’m a
pure treasure to hold on your lap. I keep my fur in great
shape with my sandpaper tongue and have no problem
helping you with your grooming needs as well. Initially, I’m
very shy and it takes me a while to warm up but once I get
to know you, I’m very congenial and loving. So come on
by the shelter to see me and I’m certain you’ll desire to
take me home with you on the spot! Onslow County Animal Services is located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville. To adopt me, please call 910-455-0182.
I am sponsored by Dan and Sue Tuman in honor of all
the cats who are waiting for homes at the shelter.
A Tiny, Bonded Pair, Sweet Lil and Grayson!
Sweet Lil tells their story: My buddy, Grayson, and I were
living a great life until our owner passed away. There
wasn't anyone in the family who could take care of us so
they took us to Animal Control. The nice folks at Carolina
Poodle Rescue heard about us and took us in. We are
doing well in our foster home. Grayson and I always stay
together in the same bed or walk outside or eat next to
each other. We have been together since we were both
very young pups, so we are lost without each other. Our
foster mom says we are truly a bonded pair and I would
be really sad without my pal. We are crate-trained, housetrained and real snuggle bunnies. We can't wait to find
our new forever homes! Please, no young children as we
are so small, we might get stepped on. I weigh just
5 pounds and I’m a Shih-Tzu and Poodle mix, and my
buddy, Grayson, is a Poodle and weighs 3.4 pounds. I
am the more gregarious one and I love everyone I meet!
When I first meet new people, I can be a little shy, but I
warm up very quickly. We are both 10-years-old and full
of life! If you have room in your heart and home for us,
please contact Carolina Poodle Rescue at 864-489-3559.
We are sponsored by Pine Valley Animal Hospital.
Thank you!

My Time Is Running
Out!
I hope my sweet brown
eyes are melting your
heart! My name is Koda
(A015287) and I’m a
1-year-old Boxer mix boy
who arrived at the shelter
as a stray. I was shy at
first, but the shelter workers took a great interest in
me and began walking
me outside and bringing
me into the office to hang
out with the people there.
Now my shy days are
behind me and I’m ready to find a loving family! I enjoyed
sitting for my photo and eating the treats they gave me.
Perhaps you’re the one I’ve been waiting for? If so, you’ll
be happy to know that I’m sponsored and my adoption
fee has already been paid! But please hurry, there are
so many dogs arriving at the shelter and not enough room
for us all. The shelter is open on Sundays, from 1pm to
4pm, in case you can’t come during the week. It’s also
open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. For more information, please call Pender County Animal Shelter at

how many dogs can brag

◄Being a puppy, I can

seconds - I didn’t know
my picture was being
taken, otherwise I would
have charged at the
camera! My name is
Diana and I am 1 of 3
Shepherd mix puppies
who were turned in
because our owner
couldn’t care for us. We
are all very playful and
love getting lots of TLC.
We are ready for adoption which means we‘re spayed/neutered and up to date
on puppy shots. Come on out to see us and fall in love!
◄Now it is my turn!
I’m Delilah and I
think I am the
cutest puppy here.
My snout is the
darkest and my
right ear flops over
in the most adorable way. All us
puppies love to play
together and we
especially enjoy
it when people
come to visit and
give us lots and lots
of attention. Everyone is guessing that we will be medium size when we are
fully grown. That sounds perfect, doesn’t it? Come see me
if you are looking for a puppy to grow with your family.
You’re bound to love me!
▲My name is Georgie! I’m a Redbone Hound, about
2-years-old. I was once on death row at the county
shelter and Paw’s Place came to the rescue. I had
been shot in the leg and was severely emaciated. It
took a while, but by mid-December I was well on my
way to recovery. Then, I had complications during
spay surgery and almost died! I pulled through,
though, because I know there are happy times ahead
for me with a loving family. I’m currently in a foster
home, but let’s make a date to meet!
◄Hi! I’m Honey and
pictured next to me is my
sister, Sugar. We were
found as day-old puppies
in the woods by an elderly gentleman. He took
us in and bottlefed us,
then called Paw’s Place
to ask for help. I’m a little
shy at first around other
dogs, but once I’m
around them for a bit,
I’m fine. I am now
7-months-old and 40
pounds. I love water and
playing in the pool, so I hope my new family does, too.
P.S. They call me Honey because I’m so sweet!
◄Hi there! I’m
Sugar and I am
Honey’s sister.
(She’s pictured next
to me.) We’ve only
been here a short
time and have
already had vet
visits, shots, spaying and microchipping. As you can
see, I’m lighter in
color than my sister. That’s why
they called me Sugar. if you look closely, I do have some
very faint spots of tan. I think it’s quite attractive. Just like
my sis, I love the water. I’m hoping that whoever adopts
me will take me for beach visits and swimming!

My name is Coco Bean

you to my big smile and
friendly expression. I was found as a stray and have been
living at the shelter since January 12. You might think that’s
not a long time, but there are so many dogs arriving every
day and not enough room for us all. That’s why I hope to
be adopted soon! I’m a playful Pit Bull mix girl, 8 to
12-months-old, and I enjoy treats, toys and cuddles. Won’t
you come to the shelter and see if we’re a match? My
adoption fee includes Distemper/Parvo vaccine, Kennel
Cough vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, deworming, and 30 day
flea/tick treatment. The shelter is now open on Sundays,
from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week.
It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to 4pm. For more
information, please call Pender County Animal Shelter at

►Siamese lovers, come
adopt me! I’ve even
got blue eyes to boot!
My name is Ting Ting
(A015226) and here are
some things I like to do:
cuddle, be petted and
take naps! Not necessarily in that order. I’m
a 2-year-old girl who
was found as a stray,
and it’s suspected that
I’m already spayed. I’m
laid-back and extremely
loveable. Meet me here
and your heart will melt!
◄So you’d like a cat
you can cuddle and play
with? I’d say that’s me,
Sophia (A015219)! I’m
a very friendly and loving girl who arrived at
the shelter as a stray
just before Christmas. I
sure do hope I’ll be in
my new home for Valentine’s Day! I’m social,
sweet and a fan of toys.
I’m the family cat you’ve
been dreaming of!

◄They call me Cheeky
(A015181) because I’ve
got chubby cheeks everyone loves to kiss!
And I welcome all the
attention because I’m a
super-affectionate and
friendly cat! I love to be
held and petted and
purr the entire time. I’m
a 2-year-old boy who
was found as a stray.
I’ve been living here
since early December.
Adopt me and I’ll make
you feel so loved!
►I’m a living work of
art with my beautiful
Tortoiseshell colors of
white, black and gold.
But the best thing is that
my personality is just as
lovely! My name is
Calypso ((A014992)

darling who was found
as a stray. I really enjoy
being held and cuddled.

looking for a loyal
and loving companion, I’ve got even
more good news:
here I am! My name
is Buddy ((A014944)
and I’ve been at the
shelter since December 2. That’s much
too long for a sweetheart like me to be
living without a family. I’m a 2-year-old
Terrier mix boy who
would prefer to be the only dog in the household. I adore
people and am very friendly. Let’s have a get-together!

My name is Bella and I
am a wonderful cat. I
am calm, low-key, and
will be a little shy until I
gain confidence in my
new home. I am playful
but don't demand to
play. I like to be petted
and to cuddle, but I
won’t demand your
attention. I like to
spend much of my day
in a comfortable spot
looking out of the window, especially on nice
days when there are
birds and lizards and
bugs to watch. For a while, there was another cat in my
foster home. He thought that we should play and roughhouse together. I was really happy when he found his forever family. Even though I would rather be an only cat, I do
OK with well-behaved dogs. It took me about 2-weeks to
get comfortable being around the two big dogs who live in
my foster home. Now I am pretty sure that I’m the boss of
them. If you would like to know more about me, give
Adopt-An-ANGEL a call at 910-392-0557.
I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful
foster mommies and daddies who care
for homeless animals.

◄My name is Levi and
I’m a very loving boy,
just 1-year-old. I weigh
in at a perfectly sized 45
pounds - not too big and
not too small - and they
tell me I’m a Shepherd/
Lab mix. I just know
that I will make you
happy because I’m
friendly, calm and I listen to commands, such
as ‘sit’. I play well with
other dogs, too! Please
come to the shelter and
meet me today. You’ll
be so glad you did!
►Talk about close
calls! I was rescued on
the very day I was
about to be euthanized
at an Animal Control in
another county. That
was a very happy day
for me, and now I’m
hoping for another
happy day, the one
where I meet my new
family! I’m Cinnamon
and I’m a very sweet
and friendly girl. I’d be
great in a home with
kids ages 10 and older
(since I’m playful like a
puppy) and I’m happy to be with other medium to large
dogs. I’m just 1-year-old and ready to start my new life!
►Looking
for a sweet
cuddle
partner?
Ask for me,
Ruby! I’m a
2-year-old
spayed girl
who is up to
date on shots
and litterboxtrained. I just
adore people,
even though I
was abandoned by my owner. A great neighbor kept me fed
and warm until I could come to the shelter. I love to be petted
and enjoy meeting new people. Won’t you be my next visitor?
◄Hi! My name is
Phoebe and I’m a
2-year-old Walker Hound
girl who was rescued
from Animal Control. I
was found as a stray and
right now I’m very, very
shy. I’m not aggressive
at all and I do enjoy being
petted, but I still regard
the world with frightened
eyes. That will all
change once I find that
special person who will
bring me out of my shell
and teach me how wonderful a loving, nurturing
home can be. Could that compassionate person be you?

◄Eight pounds of pure
love! That’s me for sure.
My name is Jackson and
I’m a 1-year-old Chihuahua
who is simply a darling.
I’m shy at first, but not aggressive in any way, and
it’s obvious that I really
want cuddles and affection. I was found on Hwy
117, dodging traffic with
my best friend, Shelby,
pictured below. I feel safe
around her and would be
delighted if we were
adopted together, but it’s
okay if you can only adopt
me. Wouldn’t life be better with an adorable sidekick?
◄Hello there! I’m
Shelby, a laid-back,
loveable and friendly
girl. How did a fantastic
family dog like me end
up on Hwy 117? I was
dodging traffic with my
buddy, Jackson, pictured at top, when a kind
lady opened her car
door and we jumped in.
My two puppies were
also with us (pictured on
page 40). I’d love to be
adopted with Jackson as
he follows me wherever
I go, but it would be
okay to be adopted
separately. I’m a Spitz mix, just 2½-years-old, and a
perfect size at 40 pounds. Come meet me today!

Please call 910-579-0407 to adopt us!
◄Hi, my name is Polo
and I was abandoned. A
nice lady found me roaming the neighborhood and
brought me to R.A.C.E. I
am a 6-month-old Pitty
mix. I love living with my
foster mom who has cratetrained me, house-trained
me and taught me to sit. I
love other dogs, cats and
kids. My tail never stops
wagging and I just love
everyone. I am also very
submissive and sweet,
sweet, sweet!!! I have
never met a stranger.
►My name is Jax and
I’m a 7-year-old Yorkie. I
am perfect in the house
and have never met a
stranger. I get along
great with all dogs, cats
and children. And I’m just
so stinking adorable. I
am heartworm positive
but R.A.C.E. pays all expenses for the slow treatment method. I also have
a heart murmur. I love to
chase little balls, go for
quiet walks and ride in
the car. I’m completely
vetted and just had my
teeth cleaned.
◄Look into my eyes and
you can see how intelligent I am. My first name
is Columbo and my middle name is "LOVE." I am
a 10-month-old Labrador
Retriever and Australian
Shepherd mix. I weigh 70
pounds and my favorite
thing to do is hug you and
give you tons of kisses. I
also love playing with
other dogs. Since I am
only 10-months-old, I am
full of energy so taking
me to the dog park would
be awesome. All I really
want to do is be loved.
My owner became sick,
so I am now waiting for my forever home.
►My name is Max and I
am an 8-year-old Boxer
mix. I am just so loving
and I get along with
other dogs. I was found
in horrible shape. I still
look a little rough around
the edges but my time to
shine is just around the
corner. I need to gain a
little more weight but
none of that really matters though because it’s
what’s inside that
counts. I am very mellow so if you are looking
for a calm, cool and
collected boy then I'm
your man. If you give
me a chance, I will melt your heart. I am fully vetted and
weigh just under 60 pounds.
◄Check me out, my
name is Gunner and I
am a 17 pound Feist.
(Feist are Terriers.) I
was supposed to be a
squirrel hunter but I
am afraid of guns so
my previous owner
sent me to the shelter
where R.A.C.E. picked
me up. I am a little
shy at first but it only takes me a few minutes to warm
up. Man, I love living in the house for the first time in
2½-years. I am almost completely house-trained and I
am crate-trained. I get along great with other small dogs
but the big ones scare me. I love children, too. If you’re
looking for a funny little guy, then I’m waiting for you.
◄Hey there, I'm
Sal, short for Sally
Jo. I am a Labrador Retriever and
Shar Pei mix and if
I may say so myself, quite pretty. I
am 5-years-old and
find myself homeless because my
owner died. I do
fine with other dogs
but I had a bad
experience with a
cat, so I don't like
them. If you have another dog that is fine with me. I do
have heartworms but R.A.C.E. will pay for the slow treatment method. I really am a smart, sweet girl.

◄Talk about a
lovey dovey! My
name is Caesar
and I am such a
baby! I love to roll
around and show
off my belly. I also
love ear rubs. I’m
a neutered, orange
Tabby boy, and I
will be celebrating
my 5th birthday in
March. I would
dearly love to celebrate it at my new
home. Adopt me
and I’ll show you just how loving a cat can be!
►How cute am I? I'm
Benji and I seem to be
a Terrier/Shepherd mix
who weighs about 39
pounds. I'm around
2- years-old, neutered
and vaccinated.
I have lots of energy
and I'm friendly and
good with people! I’d
prefer not to be around
cats. I would be a
good fit for a family
with kids. They could
help me run off some
of my energy - so a
fenced in yard would
be great! I still need
some training so you will need to be patient with me. But I
will give you enough love to make it worth your while!!
▲Orange tabbies are the best!!! Let me prove it when
you take me home with you! I'm Nicole and I will be
3-years-old in March! I'm a little shy but I enjoy being
petted and am a true sweetie. All I need is a chance!!
◄My name is
Addison but my
friends call me
Addi! They say I
am a sweetheart! I
love to play ball but
I also love to snuggle. I'm a 4-yearold girl who weighs
about 55 to 60
pounds. I lived
mostly indoors, so I
was house-trained
when I came to
SOAR, but I also
love to play outside. I came from
a house with four other dogs so I get along fine with
other canines. I would love to be your new best friend!!
►You can't see my
beautiful green eyes, but
if you could, you would be
enchanted! I’m Cori, a
lovely Russian Blue who will
turn 3-years-old this month!
I would love to be in my furrever home for my birthday!
I should let you know that I
am FeLV positive - which
means I have Feline Leukemia. But don't worry - I'm
feeling fine and will continue
to feel fine with good food, a
warm, low-stress home and lots of love! I need to be your
only cat, since FeLV can be transferred between cats, and I
must live inside-only. Other than that I'm just like any other
cat. I'm very affectionate and love to be held!
►Happy Valentine’s
Day! I'm Sadie! And
if you are looking for a
true sweetheart, well,
you're looking at her!
I'm a Beagle/Hound
mix weighing around
30 pounds. I'm about
6-years-old but I have
a puppy soul. I can be
a little shy at first, but I
love to play ball, so
bring me a tennis ball
and I’m all yours! I
would prefer to be the
only puppy in your life.
So what do you think?
Are you ready to give
me your heart?

My name is Betty and I

pound, Corgi and Shepherd mix who is healthy,
spayed and vaccinated! I
am a sweet girl but I have
a couple of challenges. I
am blind in my right eye
and I have limited vision in
my left eye. I get a little nervous in new settings where
there are lots of other dogs or stairs. I do like hanging
out with my foster brother and little dogs, too! I really
want a home to call my own - would you consider allowing me to be part of your family? If you are interested in

I'm approximately
1½-years-old, I’ve

I’m current on my
vaccinations. I'm a

My name is Bella
and I am an
adorable little dog.
I am cute and
scruffy, but I am
super shy. I need a
quiet home where
people will let me
blossom into the
pet I was meant to
be. It needs to be
kid free since loud
noises frighten me.
I do wonderful with
cats and dogs. I am house-trained and super loving
once you earn my trust. You can come see me at
Petco on Saturdays from 11am to 5pm. For more info
or to adopt me, please call 910-392-0557.

It's me, Lady and I'm
looking for my forever
home. I'm a pretty,
black and white Lab and
Border Collie mix who is
between 3 to 4-yearsold. I was treated for
heartworms and am on
my monthly preventative
now. I'm also spayed
and up to date on my
vaccinations. I'm a
friendly girl who loves to
run and play and I especially like the water. I
would love an active
family to call my own.
I'm good with non-aggressive dogs, but cats get me a
little excited. To adopt me, call 910-271-3101.
My name is
Mama Kitty
and I was
found as a
stray with my 2
kittens. A nice
lady took us in
and got us all
spayed and
vaccinated. I
am a young
lady who is
litterbox-trained
and very sweet. I love attention and will keep your
lap warm during the winter! Could you please
make my Valentine’s Day very special by making
me part of your family? Please contact Leslie at

LITTLE DOG ALERT!
My name is Katie and
I am an adorable,
black Chihuahua mix.
I weigh less than 10
pounds and as you
can see from my picture, my Rabies tag is
too big for me. I am
very sweet, gentle and
dainty. I am not your
typical Chihuahua. I
do great with cats,
dogs and even kids. I
am house-trained and
just lovely. My foster mom says I am easy and undemanding. You can find me at Petco on Saturdays. For
more info, call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557.
URGENT,
URGENT!
My Time Is
Running Out!
Isn’t this the smiling,
happy face you’d like
to wake up to in the
mornings? I hope so!
My name is Hercules
(A015323) and I’m a
2-year-old Black
Mouth Cur/Beagle
mix. I’m a very
friendly and playful
boy - a perfect family
companion to hang
out with at the house
or take on trips to the
beach or park. My weight is just 38 pounds - a perfect
size as I’m not too big and not too small. I was found as a
stray in January and have been spending my days and
nights here at the shelter. It’s just not the place a familyfriendly boy like me should be. Dogs arrive every day,
and there’s not enough room for us all! Help me out by
coming to meet me. You’ll see what a loveable boy I am.
I can even sit on command! The shelter is now open on
Sundays, from 1pm to 4pm, in case you can’t come during the week. It’s also open on Saturdays from Noon to
4pm. For more info, call Pender County Animal Shelter at

Mandy and Cruise
YELLOW LAB PUPPIES ALERT! We are Mandy and
Cruise, a brother/sister pair who is ready to fulfill all the
duties of a loyal best friend to a couple of lucky families!
(Or one family might want to adopt us both!) We were
found dodging traffic on Hwy 117 with Shelby, our mom.
You can see her photo on page 33. A very nice lady
stopped her car to help us. Well, as soon as she
opened her door, we jumped right in. I guess that tells
you if we’re sociable and friendly, right? Now we’re
stealing hearts at the shelter and waiting for loving
homes. We are happy, healthy pups who love to play
and love to be cuddled. Won’t you come meet us in
person? Our friends at Pender Humane Society would
be happy to give you driving directions or more information. Just give them a call at 910-259-7022.

Hi, my name is
Banjo. I’m a 1-yearold Plott Hound mix
and just as sweet as I
can be. My owners
had to move and
brought me to a shelter where my stay
was up, but Monty’s
Home came just in
the nick of time and
rescued me. I’m in
training at the Pender
Correctional Facility
where I’m learning all
kinds of good things
to make me the perfect pet. I’ll graduate
early March and be
all set to go into my
forever home! For adoption information, visit us online at

My name is
Clarice and I am a
doll. I do well with
cats, dogs and
kids. Look at how
beautiful my markings are. Did you
see I like to play,
too? I am a young
adult so don't pass
me by to snatch up
little kittens. I am
healthy and playful, too. You can
find me at Petco
all week long. I
can outshine any
kitten any day. If
you would like to
know more about
me or would like to
inquire about the
adoption process,
give Adopt-An-ANGEL a call at 910-392-0557. You may

Emma & Jessie
make things
easier by adopting both of us!) My name is Emma and
I’m the brown Tabby on the left. My friends at Pender Humane Society are so glad they rescued me from Animal
Control because I’m one of the friendliest, most affectionate kittens ever. I love to be petted and held. Next to me
is my good friend, Jessie. She’s a white and brown Tabby
who was found as a stray. She loves to get her chin and
back scratched and she also loves bouncy balls. We’re
precious girls who are spayed, vaccinated and litterboxtrained. Won’t you come over to meet us? We will melt
your heart in two seconds flat! For directions or more information, call Pender Humane Society at 910-259-7022.
Sponsored in memory of Milo,
the big black dog who stole our hearts!
Mommy and Daddy miss you every day!
I’m Gator - the southern
gentleman’s Hound. I spent
the first 12-years of my life
with one dad. I was an outdoor, doghouse-in-fenced-in
-back-yard Bubba. That
was all I knew. I didn’t even
know my dad’s name since I
was always outside and he
was always in that building
that looked warm and cozy
at night. And then one day,
I never saw my dad again. Soon I found my way to Carolina Basset Hound Rescue (CBHR) where I would now and
always be allowed in the warm and cozy building. They
said I would need to change my ways to find a forever
home. I was so fat that it was easier to go over me than
around me. But here we are now – 15 pounds lighter! I
was fully house-trained quicker than a knife fight in a phone
booth. Full disclosure – I do have a penchant for hopping
up on the couch to take a nap. And just so you know, you
probably shouldn’t leave fried chicken unattended at the
edge of the dinner table. I am with new foster parents and
two Basset siblings now and I am very quickly learning their
ways - like sitting by the door when I am ready to go out,
without fail. Who said old dogs can’t learn new tricks? At
age 12, I don’t look or feel a day over 9! I am a gentle,
loving, laid-back yet relatively active Hound. I still jump in
and out of the car on my own and navigate stairs with ease.
I want to shadow my “furever home” parents and/or four
leggers around the house, lay next to you to take naps, and
enjoy those massaging shampoo baths that I have grown
to love so much. To adopt me, hurry up and call CBHR at
919-708-4247 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com.
I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in
Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!
I know you have not seen anything cuter than me - my foster
mommy tells me so all the time! I
am Poppy and I am 10-years-old.
I like to talk (I don't call it barking I converse if you will listen!), eat
treats, sleep in the sun, and run
around the house. My foster mom
recently found out I had congestive heart failure. I was put on
medication and have never felt
better. I have a new ‘leash on life’
and I will enjoy every moment
because I’m moving and shaking better than ever.
Okay, so maybe it wasn't the greatest news but I won't
let that get me down - and it shouldn't stop you from
meeting me! To adopt me, leave a message at
910-821-3504 or email to [email protected].
I am Peanut and I am 12-years
young! You may not be able to
count that on your paws, but let
me tell you, I have four and I hike
and run pretty fast! I’ve had my
senior blood-work panel and I’m
in tip top shape! My family had
some other dogs who picked on
me, so I came to Russell Rescue
where I run and play with a ton of
other Jacks. I am approximately
12 pounds, heartworm negative, fully vaccinated and
neutered. I LOVE treats, sleeping, and being with my
human. Did you say road trip? Beach day? Count me
in! I love being active, and if you like adventure, I am
looking for you! To adopt me, call 910-821-3504 and
leave a message or email [email protected].
My name is Fletcher. My dad was
unable to care for me any longer
and I needed to have a dental and
get all my vaccines. The rescue
got me all healthy and up to date
and I feel great! I am 10-years
young and a zippy, spirited and joyfilled boy! I love to run, run, run
and if it squeaks, it is mine! I love
my Kong, my chewies and my
treats. Yeah, I think I need to lose
a little weight. Can you take me for long walks and
snuggle? I love to snuggle! I do tricks to get my food,
and sit on command. I am a true Jack and just a lover
of life! To adopt me, leave a message at 910-821-3504
or email [email protected].
We are sponsored in loving memory of
Oscar and Madison Pour, two very special,
life changing Jack Russell Terriers.

Sounds like a win-win
to me! I’m an adorable 3-year-old, neutered Chow Chow mix
who weighs in at a
perfectly sized 40
pounds - not too big
and not too small, just
right. I'm a really good boy and I love to show off how
awesome I am, so hurry on over and adopt me! You’ll be
making an excellent choice. My adoption fee includes a
physical examination, heartworm test and rabies vaccination. For driving directions or more information, call

GREAT DANE
RESCUE ALLIANCE
CAROLINAS
RUSSELL RESCUE
My name is Mickey and I'm a
19-month-old Great Dane with a
gorgeous mantle coat! My foster
mom tells me I'm a very beautiful
girl and photos don’t do me justice.
I have done very well with housetraining and haven't had an accident
in quite some time. I love to chew
on antlers and dog bones and enjoy
playing with the male Dane in the
house. I'm very smart and I know
sit and stay, and will sit and wait for my food until you tell me
“go ahead.” I would love to have another furry brother to
play with. Do you have what I'm looking for? Contact
704-559-4121 or [email protected].
CAROLINA BASSET
HOUND RESCUE
My name is Sugar Pie
Honey Bunch, but you
can call me Honey, a
simply delightful middleaged lady from Eastern
NC. Despite my hard
knock past, I’m a consummate Basset optimist but I need to bend your ear for a second and discuss
my ear. Unfortunately, the doctors are going to have to
work on it a little bit but I promise when I’m all fixed up, I will
listen to you just as good as I would have with a perfect ear
– Basset’s honor! I’m looking to make up for lost time – I’m
talking belly rubs, treats, and the whole nine yards. I’ve got
plans – BIG plans! Don’t you want to be part of this happily
ever after? Ask for me – Honey! To make me a member of
your family, please call 919-708-4247 or visit our website at
www.cbhr.com.
COASTAL CAROLINA
BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE
I’m Stella and I’m an affectionate girl
who loves people. I like to communicate and "talk" with my people when
asked a question and I'm very wellbehaved. I know the commands: sit,
down, go to bed, and shake. I like to
chew on small plush toys and ride in
the car. I like other dogs, I'm indifferent with cats, I’m good on the leash
and I’m house-trained and cratetrained. My favorite thing is to snuggle with my people. All I need is a
forever home. If you think I'm right for your family, please
send an email to CCBTR at [email protected] or call
252-633-0987. Visit us online at www.ccbtr.org where
you can find our adoption application.
I am Einstein, an 11year-old male Jack Russell mix living in a foster
home with canine siblings. When my mother
lost her home (she had
cared for me since I was
a puppy), Russell Rescue took me in. I am diabetic but my
foster mom worked very hard to get my insulin reduced by
50%! I take an inexpensive insulin you can get at WalMart
and the 4Health canned food from Tractor Supply, a low
sugar option that I find YUMMY. I would love nothing more
than to find my forever home where I can run in the yard and
sun in the grass. Call 910-821-3504 and leave a message or
email [email protected] for more info.
CAROLINA
BOXER RESCUE
I’m Bianca, a 3-year-old
spayed girl who was
rescued after being hit
by a car. I had surgery
to repair my broken right
front leg and rehabbed
in foster care. I’m a
sweet girl who is eager
to please and loves to
be with humans. I get
along with most dogs - I
can be a bit jealous and am currently at odds with one of my
foster sisters because of this! I love to spend the evenings
snuggling in the chair on my human’s lap and napping! I’m a
very easy girl who is house-trained, vaccinated, and what
you’d call a pocket Boxer at 43 pounds! For more info, call
910-799-5638, email [email protected] or visit us
online at www.carolinaboxerrescue.org.
SCHNAUZER RESCUE
OF THE CAROLINAS
I’m Lucy, a 7-year-old miniSchnauzer girl in need of a
loving home where I can be
someone’s one and only
baby. I will reward you with
lots cuddle time! I am spayed,
vaccinated, on heartworm/flea
preventative and I’ll be microchipped. I love people, but
would prefer a home without
small children. I have plenty
of energy for daily walks and will love you with all my heart!

during February or March. To fill out an application, visit

Adoption Celebration
46 www.PawPrintsMagazine.com February 2015
Well - I was ready
to start the New
Year with my new
family, but nobody
ever came to get
me! Perhaps Valentine’s Day will be
the moment I greet
my new best friend
with this smiling
face! My name is
Fonzie and I am
one cool dude! I
may be a little short
- but don't hold that
against me! I am
about 5-years-old and I’m a Beagle mix. Laid-back and
very affectionate is how most of the volunteers describe
me! Oh - and of course ADORABLE! I love to play with
tennis balls and my other favorite thing is to be petted. I
am a very family-oriented dog who is smart and eager to
please. To meet me, please call SOAR at 910-457-6340.
They’ll be happy to tell you how we can get together!
I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all
their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the
Rainbow Bridge.
Wow, I spent my whole
life devoted to my mom
and thinking we’d be
together forever. Unfortunately after 15years in a committed
relationship with her,
she passed away. My
name is Brynn and I’m
totally heartbroken and
lonely. My mom’s
daughter could not
take me in because
she is allergic to cats,
so I’m hoping someone
will step forward and
give me the home and
security a loving senior
girl like me deserves. I
love to be petted and
will rub and snuggle up against you. I’m litter-trained,
spayed, vaccinated, and I’ve lived with a dog before. If you
would like to know more about me or would like to inquire
about the adoption process, give Adopt-An-ANGEL a call at
910-392-0557.
I am sponsored by Perry Davis. Thank you!
