8th February, 2015 St JoSEPH’S CAtHoLIC PArISH, NAMBoUr 5th SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME—cycle B “Building a community of Jesus’ disciples” We welcome you—We are one family Readings: Job 7:1-4, 6-7; 1 Cor 9:16-19, 22-23; Mk 1:29-39 Next Weekend: 6th SUNDAY in ORDINARY TIME Readings: Lev 13:1-2, 44-46; 1 Cor 10:31—11:1; Mk 1:40-45 Saint Scholastica—February 10th When will it be day?…. Job, in this dramatic poem is in a dark depression. His life seems drudgery: dull, hopeless, without purpose and short. Sometimes we all feel like that. But God is the restorer. He heals our broken hearts. Creator of the serene and orderly stars, he is all-powerful, all-understanding. We can find joy in forgetting ourselves, as Paul did, spreading the gospel. Christ, our master, was at the beck and call of all; preaching, healing, finding time to pray only during the night. May he lift up our littleness and give us his joy. From March 15th St Joseph's Parish will have pastoral responsibility for that Church. For the past 30 years Kenilworth has been looked after by Caloundra Parish. As Caloundra Parish is trying to make the best use of the available priests, we have been asked to take over. Originally, the people of the Mary Valley were cared for by the priest from Gympie visiting the various communities on horseback. Kenilworth became part of the new Parish of Nambour 1921 until 1984. St John Bosco Church was built in 1938 when Fr Edward Doody (later Bishop of Armidale) was Parish Priest in Nambour. Parish Secretary: Cecilia Denny Admin. Assistant: Julia Quinn Music Co-ordinator: Darlene Malone Finance Manager: Michael Randall Consequently, we will be providing Mass at Kenilworth on the third Sunday of each month at 11am. This will mean that I will have to leave Nambour immediately after Mass on those Sundays. I ask that you consider who will take care of ensuring that the Church and Centre are closed after everyone leaves. Father, look with tenderness upon your daughters gathered here; give them love, grace and peace. May they always follow the example of the holy women whose praises are sung in the scriptures. Bless your sons gathered in your name; may they always have the strength and compassion which comes from the Gospel. Together, may each couple continue to both praise you in their gladness and turn to you in their troubles so that you may fill them with the joy of salvation. Keep them faithful in their marriages, and let them be living examples of Christian love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. It is organised and sponsored by the Queensland Catholic Diocesan Youth Coordinators. Movers and Shakers has been running for 20 years and in that time it has developed into a key strategy in the development of young leaders within the Catholic Church in Queensland and beyond. It plays an important role in youth ministry training as it addresses the Christian leadership training needs of many parishes and schools. Over a thousand young people have come through the program developing leadership skills and building confidence to use back in their parishes, schools and communities. The Parish has a policy to support young people who wish to take part. Please see the Movers and Shakers site for details of the week: www.moversandshakers.org.au COMMUNITY CENTRE NOTICE: Please consider the incoming functions for the centre and those responsible from day to day.
