And a voice coming from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” Mt. 3:16-17 The message of the Baptism of Jesus is mercy and the path to mercy is humility. Jesus who is God humbled Himself to show us the way. Blessed Teresa of Calcutta emphasized to her community the great desire of Jesus to be real in their lives. She said, “I worry some of you still have not really met Jesus-one to one -you and Jesus alone. We may spend time in chapel, but have you seen with the eyes of your soul how He looks at you with love? Do you really know the living Jesus, not from books but from being with Him in your hearts?” Jesus wants to be real for us, He wants to speak to each of us an individual and unique message from the depths of His love. Come Lord Jesus. Come to my unworthy heart, clear the cobwebs in my soul present there because of my sins. I am sorry that I hurt you Lord. Shower me with your mercy, show me Your face. I desire nothing as great as your mercy. “Jesus wants you each to hear Him-speaking in the silence of your heart.” Bl. Teresa of Calcutta. Vienen a mi indigno corazón. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
