A Fundraising Campaign for Improvements to our Parish
We are asking each parish family to make a commitment towards
the Parish Improvement Project (PIP):
1. Make a Pledge. Pledge payments can be made
weekly or monthly.
2. Purchase an Engraved Tile. The tiles will be displayed in the
new courtyard outside the church’s east doors.
Pledge and tile forms are available at the Parish Center and/or

home and ask your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to
support the sustainability and the future of St. Genevieve.
Your support of the Parish Improvement Project (PIP) will
ensure that St. Genevieve continues to serve and minister to the
generations to come. Please pray for the success of this project. May
God continue to bless you and
your families!
Twenty-eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today’s Readings: Is 25:6-10a; Ps 23:1-6; Phil 4:12-14, 19-20; Mt 22:1-14 [1-10]
What wonderful images we have today of the reign of God! Isaiah
speaks to us of a great feast--a heavenly feast--a feast of abundance
with rich foods and choice wines. It is the Lord’s own affair, Isaiah
explains, when God will unite all nations, dry every tear, and destroy
death forever. Then, too, will the entire earth rejoice in the Lord
and bask in God’s saving grace. Jesus speaks of heaven in terms of
a feast as well. Here, the kingdom of heaven is likened to a king’s
wedding feast given for his son. This is a feast of abundance also,
with the fattened cattle prepared just so. But many of the people
invited don’t want to come, so the king invites anyone who would
honor his son by their presence there. And Paul tells us that
whether we live abundantly or in humble circumstances, we can do
all things in the Lord who strengthens us.
R.S.V.P.
Have you ever been invited to an event so big, so special that you
just had to go? What sort of thing could you imagine would keep
you from going once you accepted the invitation? Perhaps today’s
Gospel message is twofold: not only is the invitation to the heavenly
banquet extended to everyone, but we had better take a close look
at what could be so important about our other commitments before
turning away from the summons to attend. Our participation in
the heavenly banquet depends on our response as well as on God’s
gracious invitation.
Month of the Holy Rosary
The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary.
According to an account by fifteenth-century Dominican, Alan
de la Roch, Mary appeared to St. Dominic in 1206 after he had
been praying and doing severe penances because of his lack of
success in combating the Albigensian heresy. Mary praised him
for his valiant fight against the heretics and then gave him the
Rosary as a mighty weapon, explained its uses and efficacy, and
told him to preach it to others. (Source: www.catholicculture.org)
We will be singing Marian hymns at Mass throughout the
month of October.
In his parable to the chief priests and elders, Jesus tells a tale of
invitation and rejection. A king throws a wedding party for his son,
and the invited guests refuse to come. They have their reasons, of
course. Some are just too busy--the farm, the business. And others
are downright belligerent, grabbing the king’s messengers, abusing
them, and killing them in the end. All this in response to the king’s
invitation of love. No wonder the king was enraged!
COME ONE, COME ALL
But the party does go on anyway, and the king welcomes one and
all to the feast. Actually, he invites one and all, but not everyone
proves welcome. One man comes improperly dressed and ends up in
the darkness, prompting Jesus to conclude with the familiar words,
“Many are invited, but few are chosen.” It seems that even those
who accept the invitation still need to be properly prepared.
As we each examine our response to God’s gracious invitation, may
we dress in the proper attire for the feast that Isaiah tells us the
Lord will provide for all people, when gladness abounds and death is
no more. And until heaven’s feast, may we be secure in the feast that
the apostle Paul describes. God will fully supply our every need, and
certainly, this should be feast enough for us all.
Second Collection
World Mission Sunday
Next weekend our parish will celebrate World Mission Sunday.
This year we are invited to reach out and help build the Church in
Mongolia, the world’s youngest Catholic Church, as well as local
churches throughout the Missions, in the most remote areas across
our world. Through the work of these churches, and their witness
to Christ, the poor receive practical help and experience God’s love
and mercy, His hope and peace. Please keep the Missions in your
daily prayers. Please come prepared next weekend to give generously
in the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith.

Vigésimoctavo Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
Lecturas de hoy: Is 25:6-10a; Sal 23:1-6; Fil 4:12-14, 19-20; Mt 22:1-14 [1-10]
R.S.V.P.

Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Hope After Abortion
What is Project Rachel?
Without a doubt, abortion can be one of the most traumatic
experiences a person can have. Both before and after an abortion,
feelings of fear, anxiety, guilt, panic and depression are common not only for the woman who undergoes the procedure but also for
the father of the unborn child, the grandparents, close friends,
even medical personnel.
For Catholics, the pain of an abortion is intensified by a sense
of alienation from God and Church. If you are in this position,
we want you to know that your Church understands and cares.
We are a loving and forgiving church, reaching out to you in
compassion and concern.
Above all, we want to help you through the healing process.
Accordingly, the Archdiocese of Los Angeles invites you to
participate in Project Rachel, a post-abortion reconciliation
program. Through the Project priests and counselors have
received special training to fully understand the complexity of
the situation. A counselor will lead you through the steps to
healing and peace and a priest will administer the Sacrament of
Reconciliation.

Did you Know?
Know all the access routes to your children’s school in case of emergency
“Back-to-school does not have to mean back-to-worrying. Though safety inside school is ultimately the responsibility of the principal and
school staff, parents can take a few basic steps to ensure a safe school experience.” Know travel routes to and from the school. Make sure
you and your child know both primary and alternate routes. In an emergency, roads can be blocked and it’s important to have a backup
plan. For more information, please visit http://www.scholastic.com/parents/resources/article/parent-teacher-partnerships/6-rules-school-safety.

Twenty-Eighth Sunday in Ordinary Time

había estado orando y haciendo penitencias severas debido a
