With the hustle and bustle of this busy time we sometimes forget to spend time visiting Jesus. Consumed with thoughts of love and affection for our family and friends we forget to thank the One Who is the giver of life and all that we have. This Christmas let’s try to keep things in perspective. During this Holy Season of Advent let us strive to remember that Jesus is the Reason for the Season! THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE TODAY A Word from Fr. Rocks We have reached the fourth week of Advent! This past weekend was very busy for us here in the parish. Beside the normal scheduled events, we had an Advent Retreat, Bishop Sullivan came and installed me as your Pastor and we had the Guadalupe Celebration as well. Many thanks for to all those who helped in any way with these events. I appreciate all your work. In his talk Fr. Thomas, the main speaker for the retreat, stated that we are all rather comfortable in Church. We are familiar with the place, the people, the music and the parts of the Mass. Yet, how comfortable are we outside of Church to express our faith, even in the smallest of ways? As we celebrate Christmas Day let us recall Mary and St. Joseph. God asked each of them to go outside their comfort zones: Mary, a young virgin to be the Mother of God Incarnate and St. Joseph to care for both Mother and Child. God asked but did not fail to give them the grace they needed to accomplish these tasks. As God gave Mary and St. Joseph the grace to fulfill that which God had asked of them He will do the same for us. God will give us the counsel and the fortitude to bear witness to our faith in all we do. This is part of the great gift of Christmas: God's grace. As we open our presents Christmas morning and play with, wear or use the gift we have received may we do so as well with the gift of grace we receive in Holy Communion. Blessed Christmas to you all! Peace and joy, Fr.Rocks A s Mary and Joseph carried and protected their precious gift of the Savior of the world, the Christ Child, let us also journey through this new Christian year as protectors of God’s gift of unborn children carried in their mother’s womb, and of the disabled and elderly threatened by euthanasia. We will then be also bearers of Christ O ur Parish community extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Lorraine M. Crispaldi and Nickolas L. Smith. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. 3-636 O Jesus, little child, come into my heart on Christmas morn, to wash away my sins and remain there in eternally. O Mary Mother of my Savior, prepare for Jesus a cradle in my heart. Amen. T he joy of Christmas can turn into a time of painful loneliness and emptiness for those who have suffered a loss or who are going through a difficult time. But help is available. Our Stephen Ministers are ready to provide confidential, one-to-one Christian care. They will listen, encourage, pray with and for you, and support you through the holidays and as long as your need persists. If you or someone you know is hurting, find out more about Stephen Ministry by talking with our Stephen Leader, Carolyn Peterson 609-335-6202. Our Stephen Ministers are there to care! P lease let us keep in our prayers those who are not having an easy time these days, especially those who are in hospitals and those who are terminally ill. Stewardship Reflection Stewards are Comforted “Then the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary.’” (Luke 1:30a) I t can be a little scary to do as God asks to give Him the first fruits of our time, talent, and treasure. The comforting words the angel spoke to Mary can comfort us, too, when we strive to be good Christian Stewards “Do not be afraid.” Stewardship of Treasure O n behalf of all the members of our Parish we thank you for continuing to live faithful Stewardship and for using your Sunday envelopes. Our ability to prosper and grow as a parish is attributed to the sacrifices of our parishioners. We thank you very much for the sacrifices that you made and which are clearly shown by those “grateful portions” given back to the Lord through this parish. St. Gianna’s last weekend collection amounted to $9,924. The second collection for Retired Religious amounted $ 2,498. May God bless your generous hearts T he Sodality of St. Gianna Parish welcomes all infants into the Church and prays for all expectant mothers who request prayers for their babies who are soon to be born. All pregnant women are welcome to call Connie Canesi (609)665-0199 for further information. At this time we ask prayers for the following expectant mothers: Stephanie Corcoran and Katie Gerace Figlus. Forth Advent Candle The Candle of Love T he fourth and last purple candle, oftentimes called the "Angels Candle," represents peace and is lit on the fourth Sunday of Advent. Loving God, it is growing in my heart: An awareness and gratitude of your constant love for me; Like the sun rising in the East to warm and comfort my life and to bring new growth. Thank you for these weeks of prayer. In the spirit of the season my waiting, my patience, feels sacred. Bless my heart with generosity and make me ready to receive you. Come, Lord Jesus! Come! 4-636 FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT A s we await the happy event of Christmas, the birth of our Savior, we who serve you, thank your for your talents freely given, your financial sacrifices and your prayers. Thank you! T F irst Reading: II Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16 King David plans to build a temple to honor God. But God tells Nathan the Prophet that instead he will give David rest from his enemies, and ensure that both his house and community will be protected forever. S econd Reading: Romans 16:25-27 In this letter of Paul to the Romans, he explains that the gospel reveals the mystery that had been hidden for many ages. Now it has been made known to all, so that they may believe, obey, and give glory through Jesus Christ forever. G ospel: Luke 1:26-38 The Virgin Mary is approached by the angel Gabriel, who tells her that she has been chosen to bear the Son of God. Mary is first afraid, yet shows her unquestioning faith when she simply says, “Let it be done to me as you say.” he infant Jesus adored at Christmas was, like each of us, an unborn child who began and grew in his mother’s womb. God-made-man accepted each and every phase of our humanity to demonstrate the sacredness of human life at all stages. As we begin our journey toward a new year of pro-life work, let us remember the joy of Mary and Joseph at the birth of Jesus and their fearless dedication to his life during all the challenges and dangers they faced for his sake. 5-636 SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION Saturdays 3:30 PM thru 4:15 PM. Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes, Inc. Alicia C. Petrilli Alejandra L.
