We celebrate our oneness with the Risen Christ, with each other and the entire Church, through the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist. We accept the direction given us by the Second Vatican Council. We are committed to this mission by our worship, education, fellowship, and outreach to the needy. We enter into the season of Advent and recall that the darkness covering our earth at this time of the year gives us an opportunity to reflect on the darkness of the world because of our sin, our misdirected notions of who God is and our selfishness. As the light of the Advent wreath begins and slowly grows, we are reminded, too, that the light of Christ breaks through this darkness and shines on each of us so that we can reflect that light...making the world brighter in his love and grace. Happy Advent! May this season where we reflect on the end of things also give us hope for new beginnings as well. Saturday evening, December 6, the community gathers to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Guadeloupe at the 7:00 PM Mass (en Español) with processions, Mass, food and a musical celebration. So much work went in to prepare for this celebration and I am grateful for all of those who participated. The actual feast is December 12. "Google" Mary under this title and read the amazing story of Guadeloupe: how love and faith could win out over oppression. This coming Sunday afternoon our parish choirs along with the choirs from Holy Comforter Lutheran Church will offer their annual Cantata in the Cardinal Gibbons Chapel at Sacred Heart Convent. It is always a beautiful opportunity for song and reflection and this year is so much more exciting since we are sharing this annual opportunity with our Lutheran brothers and sisters. Come out and celebrate with us! There will be one final opportunity at the doors to purchase raffle tickets for the quilt. The winner will be drawn at the Cantata and afterwards, there is a reception back here in the MAK Family Life Center. The Cantata begins at 4:00 PM. Check the handout from the bulletin for parking details. On Monday, December 8, in the churches of the United States we celebrate the patronal feast of the Immaculate Conception. Our country is dedicated to Mary under this title. It is a Holy day of Obligation and there are two Masses scheduled: 12:15 PM and 7:15 PM. We hope you will come to keep the feast with us! I am also grateful for your continued generosity to our outreach opportunities for the Christmas season. Our ability to help families with presents, food and other support is a testament to the life of faith lived and shared here at Queen of the Apostles. Thank you for being bold witnesses of that in your generosity to strangers! Be blessed this week. - Father Frank T V{Ü|áàÅtá VtÇàtàt presented by the music ministries of: Queen of the Apostles & Holy Comforter Lutheran Church 4:00pm ~ Sunday, December 7, 2014 Sisters of Mercy Cardinal Gibbons Chapel 101 Mercy Drive, Belmont, NC RECEPTION FOLLOWING: MAK Family Life Center Queen of the Apostles Church 503 North Main Street, Belmont, NC Quilt Raffle Sponsored by the Homebound Ministers of Queen of the Apostles Church A beautiful queen size quilt, crafted by women of the homebound ministry will be raffled on Sunday, December 7 at the Christmas Cantata.
