Jesus speaks through the prophet Isaiah
in today's First Reading. He tells us of
the mission given to Him by the Father
from the womb: "'You are My servant,'
He said to Me." Servant and Son, our
Lord was sent to lead a new exodus —
to raise up the exiled tribes of Israel, to
gather and restore them to God. More
than that, He was to be a light to the
nations, that God's salvation may reach
to the ends of the earth. In the new exodus, Jesus is the "Lamb of God," as
John beholds Him in the Gospel today.
Our Lord sings of this in today's Psalm.
He has come, He says, to offer His
body to do the will of God . .
Only Jesus could make that perfect offering of himself. And through His sacrifice, He has given us ears open to obedience, made it possible for us to hear
the Father's call to holiness, as Paul
says in today's Epistle.
He has made us children of God, baptized in the blood of the Lamb
(see Revelation 7:14). And we are to
join our sacrifice to His, to offer our
bodies—our lives—as living sacrifices
in the spiritual worship of the Mass.

Jesús habla a través del profeta Isaías
en la Primera Lectura de hoy. Nos habla
de la misión que el Padre le desde el
vientre: " 'Mi siervo eres,' me ha dicho."
Siervo e Hijo, nuestro Señor fue enviado a dirigir un nuevo éxodo: para levantar las tribus exiliadas de Israel, para
reunir y restaurarlos a Dios. Más que
eso, Él iba a ser una luz para las
naciones, que la salvación de Dios
llegue hasta los confines de la tierra. En
el nuevo éxodo, Jesús es el "Cordero de
Dios", como Juan lo contempla en el
Evangelio de hoy. Nuestro Señor canta
esto en el Salmo de hoy. Él ha venido,
dice, para ofrecer a Su cuerpo para
hacer la voluntad de Dios. .
Sólo Jesús podía hacer esa perfecta ofrenda de sí mismo. Y por medio de Su
sacrificio nos ha dado oídos abiertos a
la obediencia, nos ha permitido escuchar el llamado del Padre a la santidad,
como dice Pablo en la Epístola de hoy.
Él nos ha hecho hijos de Dios, bautizados en la sangre del Cordero (ver
Apocalipsis 7:14). Y debemos unir
nuestro sacrificio a los suyos, ofrecer
nuestros cuerpos-nuestras vidas-como
sacrificios vivos en el culto espiritual de
la Misa

All forms and payment must be submitted to
the church office on or before March 10, 2017
so that bricks may be installed in time for
Easter.
Lector training and refresher, will be held
on Tuesday, January 24th from 6:30 - 8:00
pm. Current Lectors and those of you that
have an interest in becoming a Lector are encouraged to attend.
