Aída Carolina Medina Díaz

Dr. Medina holds the position of Full Professor (tenured) in the Peadiatric Dentistry and Orthodontics
Department at Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) School of Dentistry. After receiving her degree in
Dentistry in 1995, and her degree in Paediatric Dentistry in 1999 at Universidad Central de Venezuela, Dr.
Medina began working for the Paediatric Dentistry Postgraduate Program at UCV. She completed the
Masters in Dentistry program in 2012 and was appointed Chief of the program. In 2009 she was appointed
Sub-Director and in 2015 Director of the Postgraduate Sudies Department. Her main interests within
Paediatric Dentistry are Dentofacial Orthopaedics and dental development. Currently she is working
towards her PhD degree with research on dental age and modifying factors for Venezuelan populations. She
has been involved in teaching in Interceptive Orthodontics for the Graduate and Postgraduate programs at
UCV. She has published articles in several journals and given lectures in Venezuela an abroad.
Dr. Medina has been actively involved with local and international Paediatric Dentistry associations since
2009, having held positions as Secretary General and President of the SVOP Venezuelan Society of
Paediatric Dentistry and Secretary General of the Latin American Association of Paediatric Dentistry (ALOP)
and Member of the Membership Committee International Association of Pædiatric Dentistry (IAPD). Dr.
Medina also works in a hospital based private practice at Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad, in Caracas.
