«Follow me»
Today’s Gospel invites us to ponder over our following Christ. It does matter to follow him as He expects us to.
James and John had not yet learned his message of love and forgiveness: «Lord, do you want us to call down fire from
Heaven to reduce them to ashes?» (Lk 9:54). There were others also called by the Lord but they were not yet ready to
completely part with their family bonds. To follow Christ and accomplish our mission, we must do it free from any tie:
«Whoever (...) looks back is not fit for the Kingdom of God» (Lk 9:62).
At a World Missionary Journey, John Paul II made an appeal to all Catholics to become missionaries of the
Gospel of Christ through dialogue and forgiveness. The motto was: «The mission is an announcement of forgiveness».
His Holiness said that only our love for God can unite men of every race and culture by making disappear the painful
divisions, the ideological contrasts, the economic inequalities and the violent abuse humans are still subject to. Through
evangelization, we believers may help men to recognize one another as brothers.
If we truly feel like brothers, we may start by understanding each other and debating always with respect. His
Holiness has emphasized that our determination for an attentive and respectful dialogue is a necessary condition for the
true testimony of God’s saving love, because who forgives is already opening his heart to his fellowmen and is able to
feel love. In the Last Supper the Lord said it too: «A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you
(...). By this all men will know that you are my disciples» (Jn 13:34-35).
To evangelize is a task for all of us, although in different ways. For some of us, it will mean going to countries
where Christ is still unknown. Others will be called to evangelize in their own environment. Let us ask ourselves whether
those around us know how to live the fundamental truths of our faith; and whether we are already doing something to
remedy this situation. We all can and must support the missionary tasks with our prayers, sacrifice and behaviour, in addition to the testimony of our forgiveness and understanding towards the rest of our fellowmen.

“JUNTOS CONSTRUYENDO EL REINO DE DIOS”

Hoy, el Evangelio nos invita a reflexionar sobre nuestro seguimiento de Cristo. Importa saber seguirlo como
Él lo espera. Santiago y Juan aún no habían aprendido el mensaje de amor y de perdón: «Señor, ¿quieres que digamos
que baje fuego del cielo y los consuma?» (Lc 9,54). Los otros convocados aún no se desprendían realmente de sus lazos
familiares. Para seguir a Jesucristo y cumplir con nuestra misión, hay que hacerlo libres de toda atadura: «Nadie que (...)
mira hacia atrás es apto para el Reino de Dios» (Lc 9,62).
Con motivo de una Jornada Misionera Mundial, Juan Pablo II hizo un llamamiento a los católicos a ser misioneros
del Evangelio de Cristo a través del diálogo y el perdón. El lema había sido: «La misión es anuncio de perdón». Dijo el
Papa que sólo el amor de Dios es capaz de hermanar a los hombres de toda raza y cultura, y podrá hacer desaparecer las
dolorosas divisiones, los contrastes ideológicos, las desigualdades económicas y los violentos atropellos que oprimen
todavía a la Humanidad. Mediante la evangelización, los creyentes ayudan a los hombres a reconocerse como hermanos.
Si nos sentimos verdaderos hermanos, podremos comenzar a comprendernos y a dialogar con respeto. El Papa
ha subrayado que el empeño por un diálogo atento y respetuoso es una condición para un auténtico testimonio del amor
salvífico de Dios, porque quien perdona abre el corazón a los demás y se hace capaz de amar. El Señor nos lo dejó dicho
en la Última Cena: «Que os améis los unos a los otros, así como Yo os he amado (...). En esto reconocerán todos que sois
discípulos míos» (Jn 13,34-35).
Evangelizar es tarea de todos, aunque de modo diferente. Para algunos será acudir a muchos países donde aún no
conocen a Jesús. A otros, en cambio, les corresponde evangelizar a su alrededor. Preguntémonos, por ejemplo, si quienes
nos rodean saben y viven las verdades fundamentales de nuestra fe. Todos podemos y debemos apoyar, con nuestra oración,
sacrificio y acción, la labor misionera, además del testimonio de nuestro perdón y comprensión para con los demás.

ADORACIÓN. La adoración del Santísimo en la capilla de San
Miguel continúa el próximo martes 28 de junio de 7:00 a.m. a 6:00
p.m.
LA SEGUNDA COLECTA del próximo domingo 3 de julio será
para el programa del Catecismo. Gracias.
RECORDATORIO. Durante el verano, muchas personas se van
por un periodo de tiempo para renovarse y disfrutar. Por otro lado,
las obligaciones financieras de la parroquia las tenemos todo el año.
Les recordamos que usen sus sobres durante el verano. Su ayuda
es muy apreciada y necesitada.
La Escuela Superior de San José está teniendo ahora
la matrícula para el año escolar 2016-2017 en la oficina de lunes
a viernes de 8:00 a.m. a 12:00 p.m. Hay becas disponibles para

un año de gracia del Señor y tu Iglesia pueda, con

pobres, proclamar la libertad a los prisioneros y
oprimidos y restituir la vista a los ciegos.
