FORGIVENES: A GIFT FROM GOD
I invite you on this eleventh Sunday of Ordinary time to reflect about the love and Mercy of Jesus. Who is this Lord that doesn’t reject the concerns of people that have bad behavior? Who is
this Jesus that accepts invitations and courtesies from the people that have bad reputations?
Imagine the sinful women in the house of Simon, the Pharisee (another public sinner), whom
Jesus completely forgives, even though her sins are public, one of the most beautiful divine gestures of Jesus. The anonymous woman in the story of the Gospel today, her face could be one of
our own faces. Although a sinner, she welcomes the forgiving grace of God, by her gestures of
gratitude, humility and love; weeping before Christ, anointing, kissing and cleaning Christ’s
feet with her hair that shows us the desire to leave her own mistakes, her old life and become a
servant of the Lord.
It is only God that knows and sees through our hiddenness! Forgiveness is a gratuity, a gift
from God. It is a mystery of God’s love which anticipates our response and repentance. It urges
us to love and pushes us to live not for ourselves, but for Christ, through our charitably relationship with our neighbors.
As people forgiven by Christ, set free by his love, may we faithfully go out there and love, and
forgive those who may have offended us.
Love and be happy!!
Fr. Alfonso Cely
Back in February, we started the 2016 Our Catholic Appeal’s Campaign. Our goal was almost $121,000.00. Thanks to your help and generosity we have raised $122,975.52 in pledges. We have actually had $84,062.92 paid in full towards our total goal amount.
OCA 2016 GOAL for St. Ann Catholic Church, Haines City: $122,975.52
Over/Under Goal: $2,047.52
Please continue to honor your pledge.
Having come from two very large parishes prior to arriving at Saint Ann and all their
preparations for the Kick Off Weekend, Fr. Alfonso was very anxious over the Office
Staff’s rather easy-going approach to OCA. Nothing we could say made him feel better about our
tactics. After many, many discussions along that
line, Fr. Alfonso told our business manager that if
he was right, and we didn’t make our goal, she
would have to cut her hair (pony-tail) off. But if
he was wrong and we did make our goal, then he
would shave his head. You have all seen the results! Our Staff motto is “You have to have
Faith!” We did.
YEAH SAINT ANN! WELL DONE!!

St. Vincent de Paul: As we hear the gospel today we
realize that sometimes we are like Simon, as it’s far easier to see what is wrong in another, than it is to see what is
wrong in ourselves. But Jesus, who accepts the poor
woman without judging or blaming her, shows us what
Christian love is all about. Through your almsgiving you
are performing a good work; far greater than you
think. The coins placed in the Poor boxes at St. Ann
bring Christ’s love and compassion to the needy
through the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Perhaps you
would be able to help the poor by volunteering with the
Society of St. Vincent de Paul. For information, call Judy
at 863-427-3040. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul
(behind St. Ann’s) is open to help the needy on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday from 12—2:30 PM. (863-4194819) Food donations can be brought to the Narthex.
If you have baptized your child at Saint Ann and
not received a Baptismal Certificate, please come

A PRAYER FOR THE YEAR OF MERCY
Lord Jesus Christ, you have taught us to be merciful
like the heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees God. Show us your face and we
will be saved. You are the visible face of the invisible Father, of the god who manifests his power
above all by forgiveness and mercy: let the Church
be your visible face in the world. Send your Spirit
and consecrate every one of us with its anointing,
so that the Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace
from the Lord, and your church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the poor, proclaim liberty to captives and the oppressed, and restore sight to the blind. Amen
- Pope Francis

generosidad, hemos llegado a nuestra meta.

Buena Santa Ana, especialmente favorecida
A través de su donación estamos realizando un buen trabajo;
