Apreciados colegas
Como presidenta de la Asociación de Bacteriólogos Javerianos, es de gran orgullo presentar el número más reciente
(47) de la Revista Laboratorio Actual / Current Laboratory Journal, a toda la comunidad científica.
La revista comenzó a divulgar los trabajos de investigación de la comunidad a los lectores en 1983 cuando el Dr. José
Forero, su primer director, consciente de la necesidad de comunicar a los colegas temas de actualidad, le dió vida a un
magazín que se llamó Concepto, que más tarde cambiaría su nombre a como hoy en día se conoce. Estos 32 años de
historia han sido posibles gracias al empeño y el aporte desinteresado de tantos colegas que con su esfuerzo y tesón
adelantaron exitosamente el proyecto.
Con el trabajo desarrollado durante el último año ha sido posible generar un cambio trascendental para nuestra
publicación. Contamos con el aporte del Doctor Raúl A. Poutou-Piñales como nuevo editor, quien ha guiado la revista
en su reciente proceso de reingeniería por un camino diferente. Como han podido observar desde el número 46, hemos
tenido cambios importantes en el estilo de presentación de los artículos, la diagramación y en general una presentación
ajustada al rigor científico de las publicaciones internacionales. Este nuevo perfil permitirá recibir artículos en idioma
inglés con lo aumentará la visibilidad internacionalmente.
Con todas éstas reformas y algunas otras que iremos asumiendo paulatinamente esperamos entregar en este número 47
una revista de alta calidad científica, que sirva en futuros estudios científicos y que se constituya a la divulgación de la
producción científica que tanto necesita el país para crecer y desarrollarse.
Pensando en estar acorde con los momentos que vive nuestro medio ambiente, hemos dispuesto que la revista esté
disponible para todo el público y sea de acceso abierto, a través de la página web http://www.abj.org.co/web3/revistalaboratorio-actual.html ; en la cual se podrán consultar y descargar en formato PDF los contenidos de todos los
números editados hasta la fecha (aun estamos subiendo los números anteriores).
Es indispensable que nuestro país produzca ciencia en busca de un mejor futuro, que nuestros profesionales se
involucren en los problemas y mejor aún en las soluciones. Necesitamos jóvenes investigadores, dedicados a encontrar
soluciones a las diversas problemáticas colombianas, ávidos de curiosidad, con todo el empuje puesto en trabajar por
la ciencia como herramienta para el progreso.
Alineados con estas necesidades nuestro objetivo es poner a su disposición la Revista Laboratorio Actual / Current
Laboratory Journal como un medio cientifico de difusión de la información para los profesionales de la Bacteriología
que se desenvuelven en los diversos campos. Es una publicación abierta, por lo que tenemos el placer y el honor de
invitarlos a someter sus contribuciones, seguros de que llenaremos sus más altas expectativas.

Dear colleagues
As the president of the Bacteriologos Javerianos Association, I am proud to present the latest issue (47) of the Current
Laboratory Journal / Revista Laboratorio Actual, to the entire scientific community.
The journal began to disseminate the research work to the community readers in 1983 when Dr. José Forero, its
first director, aware of the need to communicate current issues to colleagues, gave life to a magazine that was called
Concept, which later changed its name as known today. These 32 years of history have been possible thanks to the
commitment and selfless contribution of many colleagues whom with their effort and determination successfully
advanced the project.
With the work done during the past year it has been possible to generate a major shift for our publication. We count
with the contribution of Dr. Raul A. Poutou-Piñales as the new editor, who has led the magazine in its recent process
reengineering a different path. As you have been able to see from the number 46, we have had significant changes in
the style we present articles, layout and overall presentation adjusted to the scientific rigor of international publications.
This new profile will allow you to receive articles in English language, which will increase the visibility internationally.
With all these reforms and some others that we will be taking over gradually, we hope to deliver in this issue 47 a
journal of high scientific quality, to serve in future scientific studies and that helps the dissemination of scientific
production that is needed in this country for self-growth and self-development.
Thinking on keeping with the times that the environment is facing, we have arranged the journal to be available to the
public and to have open access, via the website http://www.abj.org.co/web3/revista-laboratorio-actual.html; contents
of all issues published up to date (we are still raising the numbers above) in PDF format could be reviewed and
downloaded in this website.
It is essential for our country to produce science for a better future, that our professionals get involved in the problems
and even better that they get involved in the solutions. We need young researchers dedicated to finding solutions to the
various Colombian issues, avidly curious, with all the desire to work by science as a tool for progress.
Aligned with these needs, our objective is to make available the Current Laboratory Journal / Revista Laboratorio
Actual as the way of disseminating scientific information for professionals in Bacteriology that work in diverse fields.
It is an open publication, so we have the pleasure and honor of inviting you to submit your contributions, convinced
that we will exceed your highest expectations.
