DESCRIPTION
PERFORM PERFORM is a newly initiated festival which is dedicated to contemporary performative praxis and combines theoretical and practical aspects of performance
art. It will take place on two days in August 2016 in Düdingen (Fribourg, Switzerland).
The project was born from the initiative of the association PERFORM - founded by Léa
Marie d'Avigneau ( Lausanne-Bern ), Olivia Jaques ( Vienna / Zurich ), Manuela Luterbacher
( Fribourg / Bâle ), Elsa Piller ( Fribourg ) and Nathalie Stirnimann ( Fribourg / Zurich ). The idyllic Bad Bonn in Düdingen will provide its premises ( stage, bar and outside ambience ).
The aim of the festival PERFORM PERFORM is to create a platform for experimentation
and exchange for the local performance scene, and to think - by using an interdisciplinary
approach - performative art afresh. Hence, on the one hand, the possibility of exchange
between experts and emerging artists is being created, on the other hand the limits of
the medium performance are being tested. Within PERFORM PERFORM performance
will be understood as a contemporary medium of expression and a bridge between different disciplines ( performance / music, performance / language, performance / theater,
performance / dance, performance / theory ). The heterogeneous approaches towards performance of each artistic work as well as the focus on interdisciplinarity are contributing
to the festivals character.
The festival consists of two parts: During the first day there will be shown a total of ten
performances. The program consists of already established, emerging, local, and experimental positions. The second day of the festival is devoted to discourse, exchange and
collaborative learning. The day starts with brunch & discussion and feedback between
and exclusive for the performers of the previous day. In the afternoon, again open for the
public, there will take place a workshop, followed by a round table on “Interdisciplinary
and Performance“. Experts will thus deal with the fluid boundaries towards dance, theater,
music and the visual arts.

- An opportunity for national and international artists to
present their work to a wider audience in an unique setting
- CHF 300.- per performance ( + max CHF 200.- for production and travelling costs )
- Accommodation in Guin / Düdingen ( 27th - 28th of August 2016 ), as well as 3 drinks and 2 meals for free

- PERFORM PERFORM will cover as many technical requirements as possible

The festival takes place in an idyllic and diverse environment, which can be used by the artists as inspiration or
even as an invitation to work site-specific. The wide fields,
the woods, the lake and various beaches are available for
the performances. Furthermore Bad Bonn is offering its
stage as well as the bar itself.
The performances will take place between 5pm and
10pm in order to make use of the different possibilities of
the day / night atmosphere.
Visiting the place previously is possible on Saturday
26th of March 2016, 4pm -7pm.
WHAT WE EXPECT :
SELECTION OF ARTISTS
- Creation of a new performance / performative project
( short as well as long duration performances possible )
- Description of the performance, 2’000 - 4’000 characters
( including necessary facts about duration, desired location, technical needs etc )
- Evt. photography / video / sketches...
- CV ( short biography, 500 characters )
- Portfolio / website
The final selection of artists arrives as follows: The committee invites five (local and international) artistic positions ( artists / projects ). Another five artistic positions are
elicited through an open call.
