Fast and Abstinence during Lent:
All Fridays in Lent are days of abstinence. Good
Friday requires fast and abstinence.
Canon 1252 states: All persons who have
completed their fourteenth year are bound by the law
of abstinence; all adults are bound by the law of fast up to the
beginning of their sixtieth year.
The rule of fasting states that only one full meal may be taken per
day. Two small meals, “sufficient to maintain strength,” are allowed
but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between
meals breaks the fast but drinking liquids does not.
Abstinence refers to the eating of meat of warm blooded animals
(e.g. beef, lamb, chicken, pork). Under the present law, it does not
include egg or milk products, meat broth or gravies.

MARRIAGES: Please contact the Parish Office six months in
advance to schedule an appointment with Fr. Blaise.
QUINCEAÑERAS: Register at the Parish Office 6 months in
advance. A deposit is required at the time of registration.
Quinceañeras are held on Saturdays at 12Noon. The young woman
and her parents are required to meet with the Priest or Deacon one
month prior to the celebration.
FUNERAL MASS: Contact the Parish Office for a date and time if
not already arranged through the mortuary. You will then be
contacted by our Funeral Mass Coordinator to arrange music and
readings.
MINISTRY TO THE SICK/HOMEBOUND: To arrange
Communion to the sick or homebound or to receive the Sacrament of
the Anointing of the Sick for someone on Hospice, seriously ill, the
elderly or anyone scheduled for surgery call the Parish Office.
SACRAMENT SPONSORSHIP
If you require a letter of permission to sponsor someone for a
Sacrament outside our parish contact the Parish Office.
WELCOME! If new to our parish fill out a Parish Registration form
located on the wall in the vestibule and drop it in the Drop Box.

El Día de San Valentín celebramos el día del amor y de la
amistad. Es una buena oportunidad para detenernos a pensar
en lo que verdaderamente es el amor.
Amor es una palabra llena de significado. Amor es caridad.
Es también sinónimo de misericordia, bondad, generosidad.
Todas estas palabras inspiran sentimientos de compasión, de
humanidad. Trate de ver al amor desde el punto de vista de
algunos de estos significados.
Especialmente en este año jubilar de misericordia, tratemos
de abrir de par en par la puerta de nuestro corazón al amor,
para que entre en nosotros y pueda salir de nosotros a los
demás. Empiece con los miembros de su familia, los compañeros de trabajo, los miembros de su comunidad parroquial.
Si lo convertimos en una costumbre, nuestras vidas pueden
cambiar.

Ayuno y abstinencia durante la Cuaresma:
Todos los viernes de Cuaresma son días de
abstinencia. el Viernes Santo requiere ayuno y
abstinencia.
El Canon 1252 afirma: Todas las personas
que han cumplido sus catorce años se ven obligados por la ley de abstinencia; todos los adultos están obligados
por la ley del ayuno hasta el comienzo de sus sesenta años.
La regla del ayuno declara que sólo se puede comer una
comida completa al día. Se permiten dos comidas pequeñas,
“suficientes para mantener la fortaleza,” pero, juntas, no deben ser
igual a otra comida completa. El comer entre comidas quiebra el
ayuno, pero el beber líquidos no lo hace.
Abstinencia se refiere al comer la carne de animales de sangre
caliente (e.g. carne de res, cordero, pollo, cerdo). Conforme a la
ley presente, eso no incluye productos lácteos o huevos, consomé
o salsas de carne.
Las reuniones son el segundo miércoles de cada mes
en el salón social de la iglesia, a las 6:00pm.
La reunión del gremio del 10 de febrero se ha cambiado para el
miércoles 24 de febrero a las 6pm. La reunión combinará las reuniones de febrero y marzo.
En el sitio web del gremio hay listas para firmar para ayudar
durante el servicio de Biblia de los martes y con la sopa y el pan.
