Corporal Works of Mercy (February):
Heal the Sick ─ We need Jesus’ merciful love to
heal us, and the corporal work of mercy to comfort
the sick is a way to reflect that healing love to others.
Visiting the sick can literally be to go and visit a sick person
in the hospital or tend to the needs of someone who is feeling lonely and forgotten. It may certainly also be interpreted as a way to revisit sickness in our own lives ─ whether
physical, mental or spiritual that prevent us from being the
truly healthy Christians that God calls us to be.

A HUGE thank you to all the IFF families who brought
items for the theme of January’s Corporal Works of
Mercy, which was “Clothe the Naked.” The items will go
to “The Hive”, which is a room at Preble High School
where students go confiden ally, to pick up items they
may need, but can’t afford or because they are homeless. Other items will go to St. John’s Homeless Shelter.

offering two mes for faith sharing in the St. Philip room:

1st Sunday of Lent
“I have now brought you the first fruits of the products
of the soil which you, O Lord, have given me.”
Deuteronomy 26:10
This line from the Old Testament offers two challenges.
First, do you give to God from your “first fruits”, the
best that you have to offer, or do you give from what
is leftover? Second, do you remember that everything
you have has been given to you by God? Ask God for a
grateful and generous heart, every day.
Pope Francis’ Five Finger Prayer
1. The thumb is the closest finger to
you. Start praying for those who are
closest to you. They are the persons
easiest to remember. To pray for our
dear ones is a “sweet obligation.”
2. The index (or pointer) finger reminds us to pray for
those who teach you, instruct you and heal you. They
need the support and wisdom to show direction to
others. Always keep them in your prayers.
3. The tallest finger reminds us of our leaders, the
governor, mayor and those who have authority. They
need God’s guidance.
4. The ring finger is our weakest finger. It should remind
us to pray for the weakest, the sick or those plagued by
problems. They need our prayers.
5. The smallest finger is the smallest of all. Your pinkie
should remind you to pray for yourself when you are
done praying for the other four groups. You will be able
to see your own needs but in the proper perspective.

Obras de Misericordia Corporales (febrero):
Sanar al enfermo ─ Necesitamos que el amor
misericordioso de Jesús nos sane, y la obra corporal de
la misericordia para consolar a los enfermos es una
forma de reflejar ese amor curativo a los demás. Visitar a
los enfermos puede significar literalmente ir a visitar a un
enfermo en el hospital o atender a las necesidades de
alguna persona que se siente sola y olvidada.
Ciertamente también puede interpretarse como una manera de
volver a visitar alguna enfermedad en nuestras propias vidas, ya sea
física, mental o espiritual que nos impide ser los cristianos realmente
saludables que Dios nos llama a ser.

CUARESMA
Como Católicos es nuestro deber cumplir
con las penitencias de la Cuaresma cual
comienza el día Miércoles de Ceniza.
1.Jóvenes de 14 años en adelante deben
abstenerse de comer carne el Miércoles
de Ceniza, todos los viernes de Cuaresma y el Viernes
Santo.
2.De los 18 hasta los 59 años de edad debemos ayunar
obligatoriamente el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes
Santo. El ayuno consiste en no comer nada entre comidas y solo consumir una comida fuerte al día.
3.Estas penitencias son para ayudarnos a crecer
espiritualmente.
Este año, el Triduo Pascual es el 24, 25, 26 de marzo,
y Domingo de Pascua es el 27 de marzo.
Cajitas para la Colecta Rice Bowl y están disponibles en la parte posterior de la Iglesia. Favor de
entregar su cajita en la Misa de Jueves Santo o Viernes
Santo. Recuerde cambiar sus monedas por billetes y
colocarlos en un sobre marcado RICE BOWL. También,
asegúrese de escribir su nombre y dirección en el sobre.

Esta línea del Antiguo Testamento nos ofrece dos
retos. Primero, ¿Le das a Dios tus “primeros frutos”, lo
mejor que puedes ofrecer, o simplemente le das las
sobras? Segundo, ¿recuerdas que todo lo que tienes
Dios te ha dado? Pídele a Dios cada día, un corazón
agradecido y generoso.
Oración de Cinco Dedos
del Papa Francisco
1. El pulgar es el dedo más cercano a
usted. Empiece a orar por aquellos que
están más cercanos a usted. Son las personas más fáciles de recordar. Orar por nuestros seres queridos es una "dulce obligación".
2. El índice nos recuerda a orar por los que enseñan, instruyen
y sanan. Ellos necesitan el apoyo y la sabiduría para dirigir
a los demás. Manténgalos siempre en sus oraciones.
3. El dedo más alto nos recuerda a nuestros líderes, al gobernador y los que tienen autoridad. Ellos necesitan orientación
de Dios.
4. El anular es el dedo más débil. Nos recuerda orar por los
más débiles, los enfermos o agobiados por problemas. Ellos

los otros cuatro grupos. Usted podrá ver sus propias necesidades en la perspectiva adecuada. También, podrá orar por
sus propias necesidades de una mejor manera.
