From the Pastor Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, We are now more than half way through the season of Lent and hopefully keeping up with our spiritual practices of prayer, fasting, and good works. Lent is an extended retreat as we prepare ourselves for the great Feast of Easter. Of all the Church’s many Feasts Easter is the greatest and is remembered each Sunday throughout the whole Liturgical Year. Today the Church dons rose vestments because of the special joy we feel at the closeness of this great Feast of Easter. Let us pray for each other that the next two weeks will be lived even more wholeheartedly as we reflect upon the sufferings of Our Blessed Lord. This week is Spring Break and so there is no school and no religious education classes. During this week the Solemnity of St. Joseph falls on Thursday, March 19th. It is the Feast of St. Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. We have often prayed to St. Joseph here at the parish for the funds that we need for our little school. When we needed a new roof on the school and it was going to cost more than $75,000.00 we asked St. Joseph to help and were provided with the funds. When we needed a new heater for the Church and it was going to cost $120,000.00 we asked St. Joseph and the Warren Foundation gave us the money. Now we need funds to help us with our Chapel: $200,000.00. Please pray to St. Joseph so that the funds will be forthcoming. I am personally asking St. Joseph, St. Andre Boussett, and St. Toribio Romo to come to our assistance. It would be great if you could come to Mass on the Solemnity of St. Joseph to thank him for all he has done for us. Our Masses are as follows: 8:30 a.m. in English, 11:00 a.m. Latin sung Mass, 7:00 p.m. Spanish. Starting next weekend you will see all of the statues veiled with purple cloth. The veiling of the March 15, 2015 images reminds us that we are in a period of mourning as we reflect on the sufferings and death of Our Blessed Lord. Even the joy of seeing the beautiful statues of the saints is removed from our sight. We know, of course that the saints are still in our lives but the joy of seeing them represented is taken away from us. When we finish the Chapel of St. Toribio we will move the big statue of St. Toribio to a special place inside of that Chapel. We will also move the statues of Mary and Joseph that are in the little daily Mass Chapel and they will be placed on the special niches built for them in the new high altar of St. Toribio’s chapel. The statue of Our Sorrowful Mother will be placed in the daily Mass Chapel. All of these things will occur once we finish the construction of the Chapel. God’s blessings upon each of you during this Spring Break week and stay safe. Sincerely yours in Christ, Father Timothy Davison In April we will need to start paying the Lawn Care Company that we employ to do our huge lawn. They will cut the grass each week and trim and blow off the sidewalks. But, to pay them we will need your help. Each year we ask for donations to cover the expense. If each of us contributes just $50.00 we should have enough for the entire season. Many people comment on how nice our property looks and we would like to keep it looking good. Your help in doing so would be very much appreciated. If you write a check just note on the memo that it is for “lawn care”. If you give cash place it in an envelope and drop it in the collection or bring it by the parish office. Be sure to put “lawn care” on the envelope. Fr. Tim Rice Bowl We journey with CRS Rice Bowl to Lebanon to be present to a people who themselves are on a journey. Here we meet a family of Syrian refugees, a family perhaps not so unlike our own. We are challenged through almsgiving this week to reach out to those who are forced to flee their homes, who are seeking shelter in a land of peace. Christ is waiting for your visit at Saint John Medical Center Adoration Chapel of Peace in Tulsa. We need adorers. Only one hour per week. Call Rosemary at 918-949-6155 or Tony at 918-742-3593. God will bless you and your family. St. Gregory’s University St. Gregory’s is hosting the Saints and Sinners Tour featuring Matt Maher and I AM THEY on Sunday, April 12, at 6:30 pm.
