What’s going on?
Al hacer girar la varilla en una trayectoria circular,
se configur una forma tridimensional llamada
hiperboloide. A una línea trazada desde la parte
superior de la hiperboloide hasta abajo a lo largo
del borde curvo se le llama hipérbola. La curva
cortada en este panel también es una hipérbola.

As you spin the rod around, it sweeps out a
three-dimensional shape called a hyperboloid.
A line drawn from the top of the hyperboloid to
the bottom of the hyperboloid along the curved
edge is called a hyperbola. The curve cut into
this panel is also a hyperbola. In fact, it’s the
exact hyperbola that fits into the side of the
hyperboloid swept out by the rod, which is why
the rod fits so neatly through it.
