Message from Our Pastor

Dear Family of Our Lady of Lourdes,
This weekend we welcome back our sisters of the Council of Catholic
Women who were in Tallahassee for Catholic Days at the Capitol. If
this were the only thing the Council of Catholic Women did in the year
(And it isn’t!) it would be well worth the time of every Catholic woman
to join them.
Catholic Days at the Capitol is a very effective event where Catholics
from throughout the State of Florida gather in Tallahassee at the start of
the legislative session to meet with our State Senators and
Representatives to share with them our insight on matters of concern to
the people of the State and to ask their support for particular legislative
efforts that are important to us.
On Tuesday everyone met for an overview of the event and a
presentation on legislative priorities. Wednesday begins with pictures
with our Bishops and lunch with the Bishops and Legislators. Then
small groups visit with each of our Senators and Representatives in
their
offices. Finally the Annual Votive Mass of the Holy Spirit is celebrated
at the Co-Cathedral of St. Thomas More asking God’s blessing on the
work of our elected officials and those who serve the people of Florida.
Many of our Senators and Representatives have commented on how
well prepared we are for these days and how important they are to
them. This is an essential part of our offering the distilled wisdom of a
life lived in Christ to those whom have accepted the responsibility to
lead and care for the people of Florida. Theirs is a big responsibility
and they need our help and prayers if they are to be successful public
servants.
I thank and congratulate the Our Lady of Lourdes Council of Catholic
Women for being such an important part of this important day! God
bless you and your good work.

Mi Querida Familia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes,
Este fin de semana damos la bienvenida a nuestras hermanas del
Consejo de Mujeres Católicas que estaban en Tallahassee para Días
Católicos en el Capitolio. Si esto fuera lo único que el Consejo de
Mujeres Católicas hace en el año (¡y no lo es!) sería de buen provecho el
tiempo de cada mujer católica al unirse a ellas.
Días Católicos en el Capitolio es un evento muy eficaz donde los
católicos de todo el Estado de Florida se reúnen en Tallahassee en el
inicio de la sesión legislativa para reunirse con nuestros senadores y
representantes estatales y compartir con ellos nuestra visión sobre
asuntos de interés para la gente del Estado y pedir su apoyo en
determinados esfuerzos legislativos que son importantes para nosotros.
El martes todos se reúnen para una visión general del evento y una
presentación sobre las prioridades legislativas. El miércoles comienzan
con fotos con nuestros obispos y almuerzo con los obispos y
legisladores. Entonces pequeños grupos visitan a cada uno de nuestros
Senadores y Representantes en sus oficinas. Finalmente la Misa votiva
Anual del Espíritu Santo se celebra en la Co-Catedral de San Tomás
More pidiendo la bendición de Dios sobre el trabajo de nuestros
funcionarios electos y los que sirven a la gente de Florida.
Muchos de nuestros senadores y representantes han comentado lo bien
preparados que estamos para estos días y lo importante que son para
ellos. Esta es una parte esencial de nuestra oferta de la sabiduría
destilada en una vida vivida en Cristo a aquellos a quienes han aceptado
la responsabilidad de dirigir y cuidar a la gente de Florida. La
responsabilidad de ellos es grande y necesitan nuestra ayuda y oraciones
si han de ser servidores públicos exitosos.
¡Doy las gracias y felicito al Consejo de Mujeres Católicas de Nuestra
Señora de Lourdes por ser una parte tan importante de este día tan
importante! Dios las bendiga y bendiga su buen trabajo.

Why Catholic?
Our Journey Through the Catechism
Why Catholic? provides us with a way to deepen our faith and expand our knowledge of the faith as we work and
study together in small groups. Sessions are held in the Parish Hall on scheduled Wednesdays from
8:00 P. M. until 9:45 P. M.
Our next Why Catholic? session will explore various “Guides for Prayer” on
Wednesday, March 11, 2015 in English and on March 18, 2015 in Spanish.
In Matthew’s Gospel (Mt 18: 20), Jesus tells us “where two or three or more are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” The
Catechism of the Catholic Church (paragraph 2697) reminds us “Prayer is the life of the new heart.” We pray in our homes, in our cars,
in sacred spaces. We pray wherever we are at the time. We pray the formal prayers of the Church, we pray the popular prayers of the
people, and we pray quietly in the depths of our hearts. We pray constantly, confident that God hears us and is with us.

Un Viaje Través Del Catecismo
El programa de Porqué ser Católico? nos muestra un camino para profundizar y expandir nuestro conocimiento de
la fe porque trabajamos y estudiamos juntos en pequeños grupos. Las sesiones se llevan a cabo en el Salón
Parroquial y se han programado para los días Miércoles de 8:00 p.m. hasta las 9:45 p.m.
En nuestra próxima sesión de Porqué ser Católico? exploraremos las “Guías para la oración”. Se dará en
Inglés el Miércoles Marzo 11, 2015 y en Español el día Marzo 18
En el Evangelio de Mateo (Mt 18:20), Jesús nos dice “donde dos o tres están reunidos en mi nombre, Yo estoy con ellos.” El Catecismo
de la Iglesia Católica (#2697) nos recuerda que “orar es la vida del corazón nuevo”. Oramos en nuestras casas, en el carro, en lugares
sagrados. Oramos donde sea que estemos. Rezamos las oraciones básicas de la Iglesia, y las oraciones populares de nuestra gente,
oramos calladamente en lo profundo de nuestros corazones. Rezamos constantemente, confiados en que Dios nos escucha y está con
nosotros.
