renovations in readiness for our previously
announced (Roof Dog) story that Super
Express convenience store is moving into
that location.
La Carreta Bar & Restaurant is under new
ownership (same as The Howler Bar). La
Carreta is on the corner opposite Henry's
Iguana Bar. We welcome both The Howler
and La Carreta to the new Weekly
Entertainment Guide in the Visitors Guide.
La Carreta is keeping the same menu and
format for now.

Murder Update - The girlfriend of the Canadian killed during a
robbery at his home known as Finca Azul in La Boquita remains in
custody along with four others including the cuidador (caretaker), a
welder and two other men. The female; Marbely del Socorro Palma
Cortés (aged 24) claims that during a robbery, the Canadian; Raja
Gill (aged 63) was beaten and killed and she was left bound and
gagged. Her mother was arrested but later released. The truck that
was stolen from the scene has now been recovered. Police are
continuing their investigation.
Police Chiefs Meet – The 21st Ordinary Meeting of the Committee
of Police Chiefs of Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean and
Colombia took place last Friday the 4th December in Managua. The
purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the bonds and exchange
information between the 14 police forces in the 12 member
countries (as well as eight observer countries) under the operational
plans that contribute to the Strategy of Public Safety established
within the Central American Integration System (SICA). The
committee is recognized as playing a huge part in combatting
crimes of a regional nature, such as; Vehicle Theft Rings, Human
Trafficking, Transnational Organized Crime and Drug Trafficking,
Trafficking in Firearms, as well as other crimes considered a threat
the region. With a unanimous decision, First Commissioner Aminta
Granera (Nicaragua's Police Chief) was elected as Chairman of the
Committee for the fourth time in a row.
First Livestock Expo – This exposition will run from the 10th to
the 13th of December with about 200 head of cattle on show and
about 40 commercial traders. The Cattlemen's Association of Rivas
(Asociación de Ganaderos de Rivas - ASOGARI) are behind this
event which will be held at the new three and a half block show
grounds in Rivas called the Parque de Ferias de Rivas “Joaquín
Reina” 200 meters south of the Yamil Ríos Baseball Stadium at
Kilometer 111.5 of the Pan American Highway. As well as the
cattle, there will be a presentation of agricultural machinery,
conferences, cultural activities, bullfights, children's games, food
and refreshments and parties with dancing in the evening. The
motto of the fair is “No Farms, No Food”. Entrance to the show is
only 30 Córdobas and children under 12 are free.
MUD-Slide in Venezuela Elections – The National Assembly
elections held last Sunday gave Nicolas Maduro a crushing blow
and provided the country with the biggest power shift since
President Hugo Chavez took office in 1999. A united opposition
called The Democratic Unity Roundtable (Mesa de la Unidad
Democrática or MUD by their acronym in Spanish) took 99 seats to
just 46 for the United Social Party of Venezuela (PSUV). Maduro
pledged to continue the work of the deceased Hugo Chavez to create
a socialist state and blamed the defeat on "the economic war" waged
by political interests inside and outside Venezuela. As we go to
press, 22 seats remain undecided as being “too close to call”. These
seats are extremely important as they could give the MUD a twothirds majority of 112 lawmakers. Such a “super majority” would
allow the new congress to fire Supreme Court justices, pass major
legislation and even convene a convention to rewrite Chavez's 1999
constitution. The new National Assembly takes power early January
2016 for a term of five years. Maduro has a mandate to govern until
2019, however during this National Assembly election, some
radical opponents promised a recall referendum to shorten that term.
More Cubans Coming – According to the Director of Immigration
for Costa Rica, Kathya Rodríguez, some 4,874 visas have been
granted to Cubans who entered Cost Rica through the border with
Panama up to December 7th (last Monday). The number of Cubans
that will be refused entry to Nicaragua and not permitted to continue
their trip to the United States will therefore reach 6,000 in the
coming days, just prior to the busy Christmas rush at Penas Blancas.
The “Extraordinary Transit Visas” given to these migrants by Costa
Rica have been extended from seven days, to 15 days and now 30
days. Belize is offering a glimmer of hope and could take some or all
of the migrants in an act to provide a solution to the humanitarian
crisis.
German Gone - Michael Sahm who was charged with the
abduction of his son has left Nicaragua and is believed to be back in
his home country. Sahm is alleged to have abducted his four year old
son from Nicaragua but was arrested in Mexico and the son is now
safe with his mother. Sahm left the country on November 27th
through the Augusto C. Sandino Airport on a flight to Panama. His
lawyer told the court that Sahm would not be appearing as he was in
Germany visiting his sick father.

Actualización del Asesinato - La novia del canadiense asesinado
durante un robo en su casa conocida como Finca Azul en La
Boquita permanece detenida junto con otras cuatro personas,
incluido el cuidador, un soldador y otros dos hombres. La mujer
Marbely del Socorro Palma Cortés (24 años) afirma que, durante el
robo, el canadiense; Raja Gill (63 años) que fue golpeado y
asesinado y ella fue atada y amordazada. Su madre fue detenida,
pero luego puesta en libertad. El vehículo que fue robado de la

Reunión de Jefes de Policía - La 21 Reunión Ordinaria del Comité
de Jefes de Policías de Centroamérica, México, el Caribe y
Colombia se llevó a cabo el pasado viernes 4 de diciembre en
Managua. El propósito de la reunión fue fortalecer los vínculos y el
intercambio de información entre las fuerzas policiales de 14 de los
12 países miembros (así como los ocho países observadores) bajo
los planes operativos que contribuyen a la Estrategia de Seguridad
Pública establecido en el Sistema de la Integración
Centroamericana (SICA). El comité está reconocido que ha jugado
un papel muy importante en la lucha contra los delitos de carácter
regional, como, por ejemplo; robos de vehículos, trata de personas,
la delincuencia organizada transnacional y el tráfico de drogas, el
tráfico de armas de fuego, así como otros delitos considerados una
amenaza a la región. Con una decisión unánime, la Primera
Comisionada Aminta Granera (jefe de la policía de Nicaragua) fue
elegida Presidente del Comité por cuarta vez consecutiva.
Primera Expo Ganadera - Esta exposición se desarrollará del 10
al 13 de diciembre con cerca de 200 cabezas de ganado en la feria y
cerca de 40 operadores comerciales. La Asociación de Ganaderos
de Rivas (ASOGARI) están detrás de este evento que se realizará en
las nuevas tierras de tres cuadras y media en Rivas llamado el
Parque de Ferias de Rivas "Joaquín Reina" a 200 metros al sur del
Estadio de béisbol Yamil Ríos en el kilómetro 111,5 de la carretera
Panamericana. Así como el ganado, habrá una presentación de la
maquinaria agrícola, conferencias, actividades culturales, corridas
de toros, juegos para niños, comida y refrescos y fiestas con baile
por la noche. El lema de la feria es "No granjas, no comida". La
entrada a la feria es de sólo 30 córdobas y los niños menores de 12
años entran gratis.

MUD Arraso las Elecciones en Venezuela - Las elecciones de la
Asamblea Nacional celebradas el pasado domingo dio a Nicolás
Maduro, un golpe aplastante y proporcionó el mayor cambio de
poder al país desde que el presidente Hugo Chávez asumió el poder
en 1999. Una oposición unida llamada Mesa de la Unidad
Democrática o MUD (por sus siglas en español) tomo 99 escaños a

se comprometió a continuar la obra del fallecido Hugo Chávez para
crear un estado socialista y culpó de la derrota a la "guerra

Más cubanos viniendo- De acuerdo con el Director de
Inmigración para Costa Rica, Kathya Rodríguez, unos 4.874

número de cubanos que se les negó la entrada a Nicaragua y no

carrera de Navidad en Peñas Blancas. Los "visados de tránsito
extraordinarios" dados a estos migrantes por Costa Rica se han

rayo de esperanza y podría tomar a algunos o a todos los migrantes
en un acto para dar una solución a la crisis humanitaria.
Se fue el alemán - Michael Sahm que fue acusado del secuestro de
su hijo se ha marchado de Nicaragua y se cree que estará de vuelta
en su país de origen. Sahm está acusado de haber secuestrado a su
hijo de cuatro años salió de Nicaragua, pero fue detenido en México
y el hijo está ahora a salvo con su madre. Sahm
abandonó el país el 27 de noviembre a través

vuelo a Panamá. Su abogado dijo a la corte
que Sahm no estaría desapareciendo, él fue a
Alemania a visitar a su padre enfermo.

BUSINESS IN 2016
CÓMO EL SACFI PUEDE AFECTAR SU
NEGOCIO EN 2016

SACFI (Authorization System for Printing Tax Receipts) is a new
control system that the DGI will implement next year which is
generating a lot of questions as to how it will affect everyone.
In recent weeks, the DGI has hosted seminars with the intention of
explaining what the system is, how it works, that they are still fine
tuning it and are open to suggestions from users. The specifics have
not been set in stone but the general idea and the framework for the
new way of doing things has already been decided.
SACFI (Sistema de Autorización de Comprobantes Fiscales e
Imprentas) es un nuevo sistema de control que la DGI
implementará el próximo año y que está generando un montón de
preguntas en cuanto a cómo va a afectar a todos.
How will it affect you? In future, under SACFI, all orders for
invoices, retention forms, receipts etc. will now be made within the
VET (Ventanilla Electronica Tributaria). Taxpayers will now have
to choose from a list of DGI certified and authorized printers. Your
order form (made through DGI) will be sent electronically to the
printer where you will collect it as usual when ready. You will then
have to check with VET to make sure that your documents have
been “activated” (once the printer has given you your documents
they must report through the VET that they have fulfilled your
order, if not then your documents are invalid).
As of 2016, all of your fiscal documents will now have an
expiration date of 1 calendar year from issue. You will now have to
order invoices taking into consideration how many sales you make
because if you don't use all of your invoices they will expire,
become voided and you literally will be throwing money away. The
idea behind this is to have stricter control on the printers themselves
and to reduce the use of fraudulent invoices.
Also your reporting to the DGI will also change. Once this system
has been established and is fully functional, not only will you be
ordering your fiscal documents through the VET, but also you'll
report monthly on which invoices you used and which ones you
have voided. In a completely separate declaration you will now
have to include invoice by invoice; if it was used, voided, who was
the customer (if you didn't get the name it can be left blank), and
date used. This is essentially doubling the work to be done.

En las últimas semanas, la DGI ha impartido seminarios con la

dejan de ser puestas en el punto y están abiertos a las sugerencias de
los usuarios. Los detalles no se han escrito en piedra, pero la idea
general y el marco para la nueva forma ya se ha decidido.
¿Cómo te afecta? En el futuro, bajo el sistema SACFI, todos los
pedidos de facturas, formularios de retención, a continuación, se

Ahora tendrá que pedir facturas teniendo en cuenta la cantidad de
ventas que usted hace, porque si usted no utiliza todas sus facturas
van a expirar, convertidas en anuladas, literalmente, va a perder el
dinero. La idea detrás de esto es tener un control más estricto sobre
las imprentas y para reducir el uso de facturas fraudulentas.
También su presentación de informes a la DGI cambiará. Una vez
que este sistema ha sido establecido y sea totalmente funcional, no
sólo va a estar pidiendo sus documentos fiscales a través de la VET,
sino que también podrá hacer un informe mensual sobre las facturas
que utilizó y cuáles ha anulado. En una declaración totalmente
independiente en el futuro usted tendrá que incluir información de
cada factura, si se utilizó, si fue anulada, quien era el cliente (si
usted no recibió el nombre se puede dejarlo en blanco), y la fecha
utilizada. Esto duplica esencialmente el trabajo a realizar.

Los X Juegos Centroamericanos de Surf se
realizaron del 4 al 6 de diciembre en playa
Maderas, San Juan del Sur, donde
participaron 74 atletas de los países de El
Salvador, Panamá, Costa Rica y Nicaragua,
fue todo un éxito.
El gran esfuerzo de la Federación
Nicaragüense de Surf - FENISURF por
sacar el evento y a nuestro país Nicaragua
adelante en el deporte del Surf, ha dado
frutos ya que Nicaragua obtuvo el Segundo
Puesto como nación, detrás de los actuales
Campeones Mundiales de Surf Costa Rica y
por encima de las siempre fuertes
Delegaciones de Surf de Panamá y El
Salvador.
Este resultado como país se debe gracias a
los resultados individuales de varios atletas
que brillaron sobre los demás:
Las hermanas Valentina y Candelaria
Resano, originarias de Popoyo, Tola, con
tan sólo 11 años y 9 años obtuvieron las
medallas de Oro y Cobre en la categoría de
Juniors Sub-16 Femenino respectivamente,
Candelaria también obtuvo Bronce en la
categoría Juniors Sub-18 Femenino.
En la categoría Longboard el atleta José
Espinoza de San Juan del Sur se llevó el
título de Campeón Centroamericano por
segunda vez en esta categoría, y Norwin
Estrella, también de San Juan del Sur,
obtuvo la medalla de Cobre.
El joven Jackson Obando de playa Gigante,
Tola, alcanzó la medalla de Oro en la
categoría Juniors Sub-18 Masculino y
medalla de Cobre en la categoría Open
Masculino.
En SUP Race (Stand Up Paddle), los
granadinos de las Isletas Francisco Potoy
(masculino)y María Vanegas (femenino)
conquistaron la medalla de Plata en sus
respectivas categorías.
En todas las ediciones pasadas de los
Juegos Centroamericanos de Surf,
Nicaragua siempre había quedado en tercer
lugar detrás de Costa Rica y Panamá, pero
esta vez el Equipo Nica, aprovechando el
entrenamiento que obtuvo la selección en
preparación para el Mundial Open de Surf
realizado en Popoyo el pasado mes de junio,
y la ventaja que de conocer bien las olas de
playa Maderas, han hecho que Nicaragua
suba un escaño más dentro del ranking
Centroamericano al obtener el título de
Sub-Campeón del evento.

The X Central American Surfing Games
were held from the 4th to the 6th of
December at Playa Maderas, San Juan del
Sur. Seventy four athletes from El Salvador,
Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua
participated in the successful event.
Nicaraguan Federation of Surf - FENISURF
made a great effort to bring the event to our
country and advancing the sport of surfing in
Nicaragua. This action bore fruits as
Nicaragua placed second as a country behind
the current World Champions Costa Rica
and the always strong teams of Panama and
El Salvador.
This result as a country was thanks to the
individual efforts and results of several
athletes who shone above all others:
The sisters Valentina and Candelaria Resano
originating from Popoyo, Tola. Only 11 and
9 years old yet won gold and copper medals
respectively in the Category; Juniors U16.
Candelaria also won a Bronze in the
Category; Juniors Under 18 Female.
In the Longboard category, athlete José
Espinoza of San Juan del Sur won the
Central American Champion title for the
second time in this category. Norwin
Estrella, also of San Juan del Sur, won the
copper medal.
The young Jackson Obando from Playa
Gigante in Tola won the gold medal in the
Category; Juniors Under 18 and a copper
medal in the Category; Men's Open.
In the SUP (Stand Up Paddle) event,
Francisco Potoy (Mens) and María Vanegas
(Female) from the Islets of Granada won the
silver medal in their respective categories.
In all of the past events of the Central
American Surfing Games, Nicaragua had
always finished up in third place behind
Costa Rica and Panama. This time, however;
the Nicaraguan Team was better prepared by
using the training methods from the World
Open of Surfing held in Popoyo last June and
capitalized on the home advantage of
knowing the waves of Playa Maderas.
Nicaragua has gone up one more place in the
rankings in Central America in obtainng the
title of “Event Runner-Up”.

La Liga de Softbol A Federado este sábado 12 de
diciembre estará cumpliendo un mes de
inaugurado con 8 equipos participantes, el
equipo de La Cuesta y Enacal están en primer
lugar con 6 juegos ganados y 0 perdidos, La
planta 4 - 2, La Auxiliadora 2 - 2 , el equipo
Barberena y Los Junior con 2 - 4, Los Dantos con
0 – 4,y Los Piratas 0 y 6. Este sábado 12 de
diciembre los partidos son los siguientes: en el
campo El Oro el equipo La Cuesta recibe a Los
Piratas, en el campo El Valle el equipo Enacal vs
Barberena, en el estadio Miguel Arana el equipo
La Auxiliadora vs Los Junior, y en el campo
Zonsapote el equipo Los Dantos vs La Planta. En el Softbol Departamental el equipo de San
Juan del Sur que está en tercer lugar con balance de 13 ganados y 13 perdidos, este domingo 13
de diciembre jugará contra el equipo Ingenio Casur en Potosí desde las 10 am. Ven apoyar a tu
