Estimados padres:
El primer trimestre de este curso académico ya está en marcha. Los niños se han adaptado a las rutinas de la vida
escolar y están trabajando bien. El objetivo del boletín de este mes es informaros de las fechas importantes para este
trimestre y centrarnos en cómo podemos mejorar la logística diaria del colegio.
UNIFORME
Gracias a todas las familias por aceptar los requisitos del uniforme escolar de forma positiva. Ahora mismo contamos
con la mayoría de todas las tallas de jerséis, chaquetas de punto y polos. A partir del lunes 23 de noviembre,
enviaremos una circular a casa de los alumnos que no vistan el uniforme correcto, con un recordatorio de cuál es el
uniforme apropiado para asistir al colegio, además del específico para las clases de Ed. Física.
TRANSPORTE
Cuando por la mañana llevéis a vuestros hijos a la parada del autobús, recordad que el horario que figura en vuestra
ruta es el de salida, no de llegada. Es importante que los niños estén listos para subirse al autobús a la hora correcta y,
si por cualquier motivo, no les da tiempo a llegar, recordad que podéis contactar con el monitor para que se suba en
otra parada. Los móviles de los monitores figuran en cada una de las rutas del transporte disponible en la página web
del colegio.
Los problemas habidos a principios de curso con la ruta C1 ya se han solucionado. Quisiera agradecer a todas las
familias de esta ruta la paciencia mostrada con los retrasos de principio de curso.
APARCAMIENTO
Recordad que la primera línea del aparcamiento está reservada exclusivamente para dejar a los niños por la mañana.
También es muy importante que todos los conductores respeten los sentidos de circulación para evitar atascos
innecesarios. Las flechas de la fotografía inferior indican el sentido correcto en el que se debe circular.

Independientemente de las indicaciones explicadas anteriormente, lo fundamental es la precaución de los
conductores mientras circulan por el aparcamiento. Recordad que es una zona de paso para niños pequeños (cuya
seguridad debe ser nuestra prioridad) y un área de continuo tránsito de vehículos, por lo que los niños siempre deben
estar supervisados y no utilizarla como zona de juegos.
CHARLAS EN EL COLEGIO
Hemos recibido la visita de una organización de Derechos Humanos de Américas (ISHR) que impartió una charla a los
niños de Year 6, mientras que los cursos de Y6, 7, 8 y 9 asistieron a una charla sobre la seguridad en Internet, a cargo
del grupo Cibervoluntarios. En cuanto a los alumnos de Bachillerato, recibieron información sobre las carreras que se
pueden cursar en la Universidad de Navarra y acudieron a UNITOUR (algunos de ellos también se desplazaron a la
organizada en Madrid).
Hoy hemos celebrado el tradicional Amagüestu asturiano, al mismo tiempo que realizamos la recogida de alimentos
no perecederos destinados a la Cocina Económica de Oviedo. Todos los alumnos de Infantil, Primaria y los tres
primeros cursos de Secundaria (Year 7-9) asistieron a una asamblea especial. Además se distribuyeron castañas y
zumo de manzana entre todos los alumnos del colegio. La fecha límite para la donación de alimentos no perecederos
se ha prorrogado hasta el miércoles, 11 de noviembre.
Dos grupos de primaria han representado dos asambleas muy profesionalmente: la clase 5B de Ms Farrugia nos
entretuvo con una representación sobre los evacuados durante la 2ª Guerra Mundia, mientras que la clase 6A de Mr
Hylton nos hipnotizó con música, baile y una intriga de un agente secreto. Celebraremos más asambleas en Primaria
(clase 6B y clase 5A) antes de diciembre y después de Navidad será el turno de Year 1 a Year 4.
También se celebró Hallowee’en en Infantil y Primaria. Los niños de Infantil se disfrazaron de espíritus, calabazas,
fantasmas y vampiros y bailaron con sus compañeros. Por otro lado, los alumnos de Primaria participaron en su ya
clásica discoteca de Hallowe’en para conseguir fondos (347. 55 €) destinados a las organizaciones benéficas con las
que colabora el colegio.
Recordad que, a partir de noviembre, ya existe un compromiso de asistir a las actividades extraescolares hasta finales
de curso por lo que los alumnos no podrán darse de baja.

Dear Parents,
The first term of the academic year is now well underway. Children have settled (back) into the routines of school life
and they are working well. The aim of this month’s newsletter is to inform you of key dates for the term and to focus
on ways in which the day to day logistics of the school can be even smoother.
UNIFORM
Thanks to all families for embracing the uniform requirements so positively. Almost all sizes of jumpers, cardigans and
polo shirts are in stock now. As of Monday 23rd November, a letter will be sent home to the families of children who
are not wearing correct uniform, with a reminder of the appropriate attire for attending school, as well as PE lessons.
TRANSPORT
When taking your child to the bus stop in the morning, please remember that the scheduled time on the bus timetable
is the time of the departure from the bus stop. It is essential that children are ready to get on to the bus at the correct
time, and if, for some reason, your child is not able to get to the stop at the appropriate time, please remember to
contact the bus monitor to arrange the pick up at a different stop. Bus monitors’ contact numbers can be found on the
school webpage, following the school transport link.
The problems at the beginning of the school year with the C1 bus have now been resolved. I wish to thank parents of
the children using this bus route for your patience during the late arrivals at the beginning of term.
PARKING
Please remember that the first line of the car park is exclusively for parents to drop off children in the mornings. It is
also very important that drivers respect the correct circulation of traffic in the carpark, to eliminate avoidable traffic
hold-ups. The arrows in the photograph below indicate the correct direction in which to travel.

Please remember that although respecting the circulation guidelines stated above, it is still essential that drivers use
extreme care and caution when driving through the car park. Please remember that this area is a crossing zone for
small children, and their safety is paramount. It is important to remember that the car park is an area where vehicles
are in frequent movement, hence parents must always supervise their children when they are in the car park and
ensure that children do not use it as a play area.
SCHOOL EVENTS
We have been visited by speakers from an American Human Rights Organisation ISHR talking to Year 6 children about
Human Rights, Years 6, 7, 8 and 9 had year group talks from the organisation Cibervoluntarios, raising awareness
about safety on the Internet. Sixth formers were visited by the University of Navarra to explain the nature of degree
courses. Some Sixth formers also travelled to Madrid for the University Exhibition Fair at the end of October and have
visited UNITOUR in Oviedo this week.
We have celebrated the Asturian Amagüestu today, at the same time as collecting non-perishable foods for the Oviedo
Soup Kitchen. Students across the Infant, Junior and Key Stage 3 (Years 7 – 9) attended a special assembly in school. All
children received chestnuts and apple juice to celebrate Amagüestu. The last day for sending in food for the Soup
Kitchen has been extended to Wednesday 11th November.
Two Junior classes have performed very professional assemblies: Ms Farrugia’s Class 5B entertained us with their
historical assembly about evacuees during the Second World War; Mr Hylton’s Class 6A hypnotised us with dance,
music and secret agent intrigue. There will be more class assemblies from Upper Juniors (Class 6B and Class 5A) before
December, and after Christmas there will be more assemblies from Year 1 to Year 4.
Hallowe’en was also celebrated by both Infant and Junior children. The Infant children came to school dressed up as
ghosts, pumpkins, spooks and vampires and celebrated the day with year group Hallowe’en Discos. The Junior children
took part in their classic Hallowe’en Disco, after school, raising 347.55€ for the school’s nominated charities.
Please remember that from November onwards, students are committed to attend their chosen afterschool activities
until the end of the school year.
