2015 Social Action Summer Institute

Cherishing Creation: Called To the Common Good
The 29th Annual Social Action Summer Institute offers participants
grounding in Catholic social teaching, biblical theology of justice,
and on Thursday, practical parish skills.
This conference is designed to gather and send and has options for
single-day participation. Sunday opens at 3:00pm with mass
celebrated by Archbishop Sample and closes with an Oregon
Catholic Brewers and Vintner Tasting.
Registration for Sunday only is $35. Registration for each other day is
$50, or $375 for the entire week including meals.

Adult Faith Formation
CRS Nepal Update
Thank you for your generous support:
 CRS has mobilized over $14.5 million in relief and recovery funding.
 CRS and Caritas Nepal have provided relief materials to
13,164 households in Gorkha, Lamjung, and Dhading districts.
 CRS/Caritas Nepal completed emergency distributions,
reaching 12,495 households with tarpaulins, ropes, and
sleeping materials.
 In the past week, CRS has provided a 3-month supply of
WASH materials to 1,282 households, and will reach an
additional 560 households next day.
 In central Gorkha District, CRS/Caritas Nepal have begun
distribution of transitional shelter materials, including
corrugated galvanized iron (CGI) sheeting, tool kits, nail kits
and sleeping materials. To date, 575 households have been
reached.
In the next 2-3 weeks, CRS is planning to reach a total of
6,250 households with cash or shelter materials in north,
central, and southern Gorkha District.

upstARTpdx
~Upcycled goods~
~Creative Opportunities~Transformed Lives~
upstARTpdx is a social enterprise on a mission to support
women at risk of sexual violence, exploitation and homelessness
through creative, income generating opportunities, while
promoting upcycling and environmental awareness.
upstARTpdx collects unwanted jewelry for resale and
upcycling. Women gain creative skills, friendship, fun and other
life-giving experiences while making new creations from
donated supplies by turning them into new jewelry pieces. The
women are employed through sales events around Portland.
Last year upstARTpdx hosted over 40 jewelry making
sessions and provided 112 hours of employment for women.
Bring your donations of jewelry, buttons, art supplies,
jewelery-making supplies. Bring your broken or unwanted
jewelry that you usually have to throw away. You provide the
raw materials needed to make new jewelry!
Look for the treasure box this summer in the vestibule to
add your contributions.

PRIMERA COMUNION 2016
Ya empezamos las registraciones para niños/as que
quieran hacer su Primera Comunión en Mayo del
2016.
Estamos en el salón de San Francisco después de la
Misa de 12:30pm.
Cuando venga a registrarlos se les pide que
traigan su Acta de Nacimiento y Fe de Bautizo.
El costo antes del 30 de junio es de:
$75.00 por cada niño.
Después del 1ero de julio el costo subirá a
$100.00.
También puede venir a registrarlos durante las horas de
oficina, recuerde que los viernes está cerrado.
MAESTRAS
Empezaremos el nuevo año para
las clases de Primera Comunión y necesitamos
maestras y maestros que nos ayuden con las clases
de catecismo. Si ustedes piensan que pueden dar un
servicio voluntario por un año, acuérdense que lo
están haciendo para Dios y él se los recompensara.
Nosotros les ayudamos y les damos el entrenamiento
que se requiere para aprender a como dar las clases.
Tenemos personas de la Arquidiócesis que las
preparan y les dan los temas que tienen que
enseñar. Pueden ponerse en contacto con la Señora
